There is absolutely no point for HOAs to exist, they are a collective parasite that should be effectively eliminated.Oct 17th, 2013Someone from Tucson, AZ signed.

Our HOA picks out which part of the "covenant" they want to enforce. It's either all or nothing...Hired a violation committee w/out advising residents.REPORT COMMENTS

Our Homeowners Association doesn't mow our lawns or plow our streets, and yet they maintain that they need $6K for flowers for a small common area at the front of the subdivision.REPORT COMMENTS

I understand pet policies such as "must carry in hallways", "must be under 10 pounds", "must be on leash around property", etc. I cannot however, understand a ban on pets entirely. My neighbors and I own the building, if the majority of us believe pets should be allowed, who is the HOA to decide otherwise?REPORT COMMENTS

I belong to one HOA where the board changes the rules and regulations whenever they see fit. I did some maintenance on my yard while the HOA employees (yes, I said employees, paid with benefits) watched from the road. This work involved pouring some concrete to reinforce my ground level deck. A month later the rules had been changed to read that anyone pouring concrete must first purchase a permit from the HOA. This is just one example of abuse by this HOA. It's so bad that we purchased another home and moved out. There are rules controling how much they can raise the assesments, so to circumnavigate that the HOA just uses the words "special assessment" to fund their pet projects. Oh and did I mention the thousands of dollars that was embezzled by one of the "employees". So yes, do away with these crooked operations.REPORT COMMENTS

all kinds of initial documents I've found are flawed, as well as a 3-person board doing what the management company dictates and the Homeowners do not have any say so. And, just found out that for the past 5 years a home in our subdivison is in the HOA's name and no one can say how or who has been paying the tax bills annually and with what funds? HOAs need to go away...we only have 3 branches of government and this 4th quaisi branch needs to be amputated ASAPREPORT COMMENTS

I pay $372.00 a month for condo fees. The only return is trash disposal and lighting. The Common Area is a mess, the lawn are is a joke....weeds/ dirt over 75% of the complex. Requests for basic repairs go unanswered. Trustees should be held legally responsible for such atrocious behavior. It is a total scam and these " management" company are legal thieves. They rip off the owners blind and we have no recourse. It is simply beyond belief. I cannot even get a gutter replaced for my $372.00 a month. Flooding in my walkway and lower level. No response. Please reform or dissolve HOA. They are not there to do the job. They take your fees, assess you and are not held accountable. I will NEVER EVER live in an HOA " community" again. Buyer out there......BEWARE.REPORT COMMENTS

My HOA threatens me if I put in grass seed, at my own expense. The lawn care is a mess. Weeds, dirt. Disgraceful. I IMPROVE my property within guidelines and I am harassed and threatened. Please dissolve HOA. They are destructive and financially abuse and rip off owners. It is a legal scam.REPORT COMMENTS

HOA's need to be dissolved, nationally. There are much more efficient ways of making sure our neighborhoods are kept nice, like maybe rewriting some city ordinances. Putting a lien on someone's house for not edging their front lawn is hardly efficient, or effective.REPORT COMMENTS
