I am very frustrated with the powers that HOA's have, I don't know if they need to be dissolved completely (personally), under the condition that they are given less power over home owners and more governance as to what they are allowed to force upon home owners and how they can enforce it. Most HOA's are designed to try and benefit the whole of the community but based on my personal experience, they tend to have too much power about what a person can and can't do with their own property under the assumption they doing it for the better of the community, this can't be further from the truth, it's all about power. I lived in one that collected money but hardly ever did anything substantial for the community, and the projects they did seemed to be "beautification" projects, and they likely were hiring friends or family members to do the work. Another one told me I can't make repairs or upgrades to the inside of my home without their approval, as if it's their home, well it's not it is mine and it is my right to do with the interior as I please. The one that I currently live with has decided to put new roofs on all units because it saves money long term but has yet to provide me the break down of how as requested, and of course this work will require me and others paying more money which puts us under financial hardship, but the HOA is supposed to be non-profit. The point is that any entity should not have complete control over what a person is doing and shouldn't be allowed to force items without certain criteria being met from a due diligence stand point. I work a full time job and am working on starting a company, I don't have time to keep up or argue with any HOA over what they are doing and when I do, they just say they have the right to do so or they have the power to force me to do something I don't feel I should have to. It's not right, there should be boundaries. ------------------------------------------------------------ Transparency, Oversight, and Clarification of HOA's or END THEM.

I am posting a second time for my leaders in the state of Nevada. The HOAs (Bella vita) is operated and owned by the management company RMI. That should be a red flag. My HOA has lied to me in the past about repairs that I paid them to do and it was not completed. They are bullies and are not accountable. They continue to charge fees for every little thing and continue to raise dues. This 2016 my dues went up 17%! Can you imagine if every business did that? If you're a minute late with monthly dues, they charge you a $25 late fee. Also, if you sign up for auto pay, there's an additional monthly fee for that!!? They should not be allowed to do what they do. Please help. Set limits or simply do away with them.

My HOA (Bella Vita) has lied to me in the past about fixing damaged property and charged me for it. Nothing I can do. They continue to charge me more fees and raise the dues EVERY year. This year....17%???????? How or why are they allowed to do this. It's simply not justified. They are NOT policed or governed by anyone. I can not afford the property any longer. If you're late with payment by a minute, they charge you an additional $25!!!

HOAs charge you money so they can tell you what you cannot do. There are NO checks and balance in an HOA system. This is dangerous. You should be able to do what you want with what you own, if it isn't hurting anybody.

HOA's are out of control. Just yesterday i received a letter telling me to take down the "purple sheet" over the upstairs window behind the garage. First of all, its not a sheet, they're sheers and have been there for 8 years. Second of all, what are they doing snooping around my property. There's never been any trouble here. Who are they to tell me I can't have curtains of my choosing in my home?? I pay well over 250 a year for absolutely nothing. We have no pool, clubhouse, block parties(which money has been set aside for but no party ever happened in 8 years), no nature trails etc. And where do they get off saying they can foreclose on anyone's home if they don't make a payment?? This is exploitation and being a bully. What happened to the amercan dream of homeownership?? I am not a serf or a tenant. I own my home and pay my taxes etc. If they want to tell me what to do then by god they can pay my mortgage etc.

I have to pay my association about $500 a year for nothing! All they do is tell ppl that their screen door can't be white. It really should be an illegal practice. I know it was a choice to buy my house and I knew it was in a HOA neighborhood. But you can't find homes here that aren't !!! We have no options!!!

WHY I CANNOT VOTE FOR JEB BUSH AND MARCO RUBIO (EX-POLITICOS OF A CORRUPT FLORIDA) Alafaya Woods Homeowner?s Association (HOA) v. Charles E. Kuhn and Unknown Residents Seminole County Florida The case below (2015-CC-001604-20L-S) was settled out of court for something just shy of $5,000. While I was fighting Floridian greed and corruptness, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio were both trying to convince the great citizens of the United States, that they were, and are, the next best choice for President. I consider the idea of either man serving as President to be HOGWASH! Jeb and Marco were accomplices prior to the fact in an attempt to steal my house and my property in Florida. All over a $360 debt less than two years overdue. It cost me nearly $5,000 to get it back. The lobbying interests that created this scenario are indicative of what we will see if either is given serious consideration for our nation?s highest office. Please keep in mind that Florida will be key to the next Presidential election. I swear to the readers of this article that I will vote for Hillary Clinton and hide my face for the next 4 years, before I cast a vote for Jeb or Marco should they become the Republican nominee. When it comes to the Florida statutes on Homeowners Associations, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio knew (and know) of the atrocities being committed. As members of the Florida government, they either did not care, or had resigned themselves to not being able to fix the issue. To quote General Colin Powell ?either case is a failure of leadership.? Each politician would have done better to fight the homeowner genocide occurring in Florida, at the hands of extremist and radical law firms, rather than tout their thoughts on ISIS or Syrian extremism. Fight homeland genocide first. Why do these men, in fact ?Why would anyone?? think that either man is capable of leading this nation? Florida is now run by corrupt attorneys with the full blessing of the state government and legislature. I actually had a lawyer from Wisconsin apologize to me, on behalf of the occupation, for such actions taken by the law firm of Clayton and McCulloh. Yes, there are honest lawyers out there, you just have to come north to find them. Think that I?m kidding? Overreacting? Read on and let me know your thoughts when you finish. Maybe I am just a whiny homeowner who neglected his debts and that these attorneys and HOA are just displaying honest American values. The right to own a home is a basic tenet of this society. Jeb and Marco would rather give my house to the lawyers. By the way, HOAs are ?non-profit? which means you cannot win. If you fight and win, your dues go up. If you fight and lose you pay ?reasonable attorney fees for the HOA? (aka nearly $5,000 for a $360 debt). I swear all information contained below is true and accurate to the best of my memory of occurrences, concerning the property at 1061 Gwyn Circle Oviedo Florida. My statement was entered i

My former hoa family members have robbed our monies, mismanaged, hired organize crime to build foundation and structural damage homes, I have had fraud committed on me and other owners. This is in NJ.All 4 builders up to the last developer, few years ago filed bankrupt because of damages caused by retention basin, and building on wetlands.I have list all sales to my home refused engineer structural report. All of us have been fighting and finally removed corrupted land owners, treasurer, president, Realtor, Broker. Our accounts were left only with under 10,000 and financials were held till take over. I was advised by hoa attorney my home had too much damage along with neighbors and the State informed us to have town officials reevaluate for condemnation. Its been discovered in 2013 our financials books from certain years were burned. The hoa attorney my dues paid for on salary was afraid of the family and was in same office of prosecutor, whom owns Title Mortgage Co with Realtor family member that also was misappropriating funds and harassing threatening us .To not hire a management co. Today just shortly after 3 years we are behind dues 100,000 all bills paid and over 100, 000 has been saved.. As a hard working homeowner single parent how does the former board and attorney who told me I was not allowed to fix my home , and they had no money for repairs, and refused my settlement and potential buyers what I required at sale..Something has to be done and to top it off. The one who introduced me to the sale was the land owner who hired hitmen and crime members to build substandard and happen to have units and home built for contractor cost and lied and ran off with the monies..He laughed in my face fleeing that my home was damaged because of contractors and both family members knew of foundation and structural damages since the beginning. I am now disabled, carpenter, fighting this cause and plead for justice for all of us. This has been ignored by the NJ prosecutor's office and I have just returned from surgery and injuries to fight this battle..Our land was too wet and they were suppose to build on slabs, I stead 9 block deep 50ft from enlarged basin and retention that left us infested with mosquito s and chem sprayed, which hospitalized me following day. Help us innocent ppl stand up to these corrupted officials and municipalities that turned every head to help us.And inspectors were paid off to sign off.God please help all of us who deserve better, I would of rather lived in a tent, now being sued and taken of everything, costing over hundred of thousands. They cursed me and yelled at meetings and left my family sick from the mold and moisture levels over 50%. Thru my heat ducts and I have COPD because I had to leave to another State to work due to the angry hoa and lack of work to pay my mortgage and bought a hotel Can. Unit disaster that sellers had his among other things at settlement and were law official families who committed fraud. And th

Here in Florida it is common for homeowners who are dissatisfied with their HOA's to be told they will have to pay out of their own pocket to fight their HOA. Many HOA's (and even civic associations) are aware of this and know that an individual homeowner does not have the time, financial funding, or power (yes, an HOA as a whole number is considered its own sovereign nation here in Florida). It is time someone above the state level (which, by the way, once again, Florida refuses to regulate HOA's) step in and provide regulation and enforcement to prevent these HOA dictatorships from continuing to dominate and extort homeowners. (And by extort I only refer to payment for services not rendered, attorney / legal fees, and uncompensated / unpaid amounts of time arguing with no positive results).

They turn it into a nightmare. It's ine thing if everyone wants to throw in $$ to improve or maintain common areas of the neighborhood. It's another to dictate how others will live their lives. Don't like the color of MY house? You pay the mortgage and taxes.
