This is America. The primary language is ENGLISH! If you go to another country, you have to learn THEIR language to get a job. Every application I fill out now you have to put down your race and what languages you speak. Some are even asking for age. I never in my entire life had this much trouble finding a job! If theyre going to discriminate then these states need to raise the minimum wage so those of us who can no longer find a job with our skill set can at least still find a job and be able to make a living. I am getting to the end of my unemployment and cant find a job. On the ones that ask for age probably because of my age the ones that ask for race probably because Im white and the ones that ask for do you speak more than one language probably because I AM AN ENGLISH SPEAKING AMERICAN!!! Who when I was in school spanish was not offered!! If you ask me this is all DISCRIMINATION PERIOD!! Oh Id love to learn spanish but guess what. It cost money of WHICH I BARELY HAVE ENOUGH TO SURVIVE cause I dont speak spanish!! These people who come here get ENGLISH COURSES FOR FREE!! Why cause it is the primary language but are too lazy to learn it. Not because they cant afford it!! I am a 47 year old SINGLE white female born in AMERICA and I have a right to a good job for my skills. NOT FOR WHAT LANGUAGE I SPEAK OR WHAT COLOR MY SKIN IS!!!!!!!!!

This is America,we speak English here.Throughout history every other culture that we've blessed to call our great country home has assimilated into our culture. Why are we treating Mexican's differently? Everything is in both English and Spanish. I've even seen straight Spanish billboards,IN AMERICA! Would Hispanics be ok if I moved to Mexico and forced them to speak Spanish? Oh well,we'll be the minority(white American) in a few years anyway. It hurts my heart to see what our veterans have fought and died for go right down the crapper. Get ready for crooked politicians, bought cops and judges, and drug cartels ruining this country just like our neighbors to the south.

If I go and work in a Spanish I speaking country, I would be expected to speak Spanish, yes? Unless it's a job translating or working for the consulate of a Spanish-speaking country, or teaching Spanish...it's WRONG. I don't need to speak Spanish, you need to learn English!

This feels truly horrible to know all my time spent in school is going to waste because when they ask if I am fluent in Spanish I tell them no. I speak and understand a bit but still feels completely unfair when I busted my butt to attain the highest level of skill to be denied a job based on something that was not supposed to be a requirement for my job. Feels unlawful.

I feel very limited when considering applying for certain jobs that I would be capable of performing, however, the fact that I not Bilingual makes me feel left out and restricted. It saddens me!

Can't even get a job working in the orchard because I don't speak spanish. The mexicans own everything. Thanks Feds. I thought this was America, not mexico-America... You see how messed up their country is, and you let them pour in, what do you think happens next? Our country becomes great? No it gets worse, because you are letting in people who can't fix their own problems, and make us learn spanish to bend backwards for them, well frankly my back is starting to hurt. Thanks for ****ing us all Dream Act and Federal Government Pigs, trying to make a playing field for your tax brackets. Where's my full ride scholarship because I'm a caucasian english speaking american? I don't speak Spanish but I took four years of it, and passed with good grades. Didn't memorize much besides numbers and a few words. That's how ridiculous this country has become. Our own President doesn't speak spanish, but he got the job, WTF? We better do something about this, how about send the illegal immigrants from south of the border back. They don't go back unless we make them. It's like that "they-think-they-are-your-friend" that just shows up, that's not really your favorite friend, and they eat your food, talk your ear off about things you could care less to hear about, in a language you can't understand, and make a mess, and only leave when you physically shove them out the door. That's Mexicans in America, they are proud to be Mexicans from Mexico, not Mexican Americans. It's very obvious. Guess just wait for the revolution... Cause it's coming at the rate of things. I want the mexicans job in the orchard who drives around doing nothing all day, I see a lot of them, taking 3 lunch breaks, playing cards, and then when your neighbors are gone on vacation, those mexicans being paid to work in the orchard are robbing my neighbors house at the same time, but because I didn't see the specific license plate of the specific car, we can't pinpoint which" orchard workers" it was. But they come and stare at you like you're an art display everyday, making you feel uncomfortable to leave your own house to go to your job. These horrible people need to go home. But instead we give their kids full ride scholarships to be something other than an orchard worker, so we can bring more in from south of the border, it's becoming a vicious cycle here folks. The USA is quietly being taken over by Mexico, and it needs to stop. So I think the (fruit) companies bringing in the immigrants from Mexcio need to be held responsible for ruining the culture of America. Zirkle Fruit is the biggest offender in my area. But this has become little mexico now, so it's like, where do I go to find an all english speaking community in the USA? Apparently I can't now. OK I'm done, do I get an award?

Bi-lingual requirements are a discriminatory practice. And where is the official counter debate on how allowing undocumented and illegal aliens to live and work in our towns, affects legal residents and their ability to find jobs and affordable housing? And that our taxes go to educating their children, so even less jobs will be available in the future, is infuriating. If E Verify had been/was enforced, this wouldn't have even become an issue.

The city in which I live has become a haven for illegal immigrants. There are places in which I cannot do business because I only speak English. The fact that my family is American of Mexican descent doesn't help either. People get upset and I can only assume that they are speaking negatively because I don't speak their language. My family has been here for over a hundred years and I've never really needed another language until about 5 years ago when this all started.

I have a Bachelor's Degree and I've been on a job search for a few years now but it seems almost every job ad requires you to be bilingual. I am so tired of being overlooked because I "only" speak English. They might as well declare they want someone of Hispanic origin to apply because it seems like every company I go to, it's filled with "Spanish Speakers". I live in L.A. and LOVE the diversity BUT if all I'm hearing is Spanish everywhere I go, how am i supposed to feel? Now that the Powers That Be have decided to give all illegals driver's licenses, I expect for this to be much worse in the coming months and years. Somebody please help!

Im trying temporary Services in my time of need for cash in between Looking for a more permanent job. I get Sent to warehouses and they keep instructing me in Spanish, I politely say can you speak English they laugh and say sorry I forgot. Then I get asked why don't I speak it if i am Hispanic, also question me about parents. These are always the women giving me a hard time. This is a continuous Thing I go through. The education I pay for, certificates I earn have not helped me... I'm aware of the incentive the government gives to companies who employ legal immigants. Idk

I was laid off from my last emploer to DOD funding. I had found a new position for quality assurance at a company. So it went well for a week until it came to auditing the workers 95% of the production facility knew no English or very little. That's when they found out I don't speak Spanish and I can't audit or train these people if they don't understand me. The employer looked at me and probably assuming I did speak Spanish ( half white half filipino ) so I got let go. We're is the justice in that.

I have a college degree and suddenly cant get a job because I do not speak spanish. A person with less skills and education is getting my jobs becasue of this. Why do the lower level employees not have to be bi-lingual? This is by far not fair. And you want my vote?

How and why is fair that the kind of work I have been in for 15 years all of a sudden I cant find a job because I am an American Citizen and speak english! Plus when I was in high school learning other languages was not an option. The immigrants that come here get offered to learn english for FREE! I would love to learn spanish. But guess what I CANT AFFORD IT. ITS NOT FREE FOR AMERICANS TO LEARN ANOTHER LANGUAGE! Plus one above is right. There are those who clearly know english but will say you know spanish no english. Then you tell them Ill have someone call you back and it is funny they magically speak english. Well why didnt you speak english in the first place!!!!! They clained discrimination. Well what they are doing to American citizens is discrimination!! Why doesnt this country stand up for their citizens! And now trying to let them into the military and push Americans out of the military?? Feels like government is dicriminating cimpletely against their people. And their people just going to sit by and let it happen!

Although I was born in the United States and have earned a Degree in Spanish, I still find it unfair for employers to request bilingual speakers. Sadly to say the job only paid me 90 cents more a hour and Spanish was used only for interpreting purposes many years ago. Now I find that Spanish is spoken whenever they feel like speaking. I'm still trying to figure out why the Department of Motor Vehicles gives drivers examinations and learning material in other languages when all the street signs are posted in English? My mother was hit by a non-English speaker and she ask him didn't you see the sign and he replied "I can't read English! " Why are we continously awarding people who broke a federal law by entering the United States without inspection the right to receive amnesty? We have people who can't walk down the street without being harassed by the Police. We're supposed to remain law abiding citizens. And why do they keep telling us we need to be worried about terrorism when millions of people have entered the United States illegally? If you want to see how well our government is protecting the borders, go to YouTube and enter news reporter entering the United States dresses as Taliban.

Absolutely ridiculous that almost every job requires you to be bilingual in Spanish. If this is going to be the case, all schools MUST teach two languages at the rate in which this is all happening now because numbers in the Spanish speaking population are expected to double within the next few decades. Essentially , America is turning into Mexico which is NOT what my family signed up for when we migrated to the U.S. Somehow we all managed to learn how to speak English and assimilate within one generation but apparently other people cannot make such adaptions. Government does not care to intervene , so its either teach your children and future generations Spanish , or sadly move out of the country.
