If our children were given a "little" bit of homework it would be fine, but these kids have so much every night it is causing a stressful environment for them and the parents. The teachers are not the ones "teaching" them anymore, we as parents are, and then footing the bill for the lack of educating in the classsroom. You can't even plan a family event during the week anymore because the parents and child are all worried about making sure their homework is all done. Then they go to school and receive a "ticket" or bad remark if they didn't finish something, when the child sat an did homework for three or four hours. It's completely ridiculous. These kids don't enjoy school because they are on overload all the time and so stressed out. I have a 4th grade daughter and I speak to so many parents on a regular basis that feel the same way. This needs to end. Also, you put your child in an extra curricular activity and they don't even have enough time to focus on that due to the hours spent doing ridiculous common core math, or studying for the over abundant amounts of tests they have decided to give our kids these days. We are going in the wrong direction, and this needs to stop. Our children should have a chance to be a kid, and enjoy their childhood while learning in a positive stress free environment. They have way to much on their plate at such a young age. The expectations are a bit high for these young minds. There has to be a better solution. I'm fed up!REPORT COMMENTS

I have horrible focus. Homework does nothing for me. It doesn't help me at all academically, I end up just sitting there and worrying if I'll ever make it to college simply because I struggle to get my homework done. It's the reason my grades are lower than they should be. I do fine with lessons and tests and projects, but my homework grades make me out to be some big dumb-ass. I already have nine hours of school, I don't need it to take up more of my personal time. Homework is the devil.REPORT COMMENTS

I believe less homework or longer deadlines on homeowork for all or most grade levels will be able to reduce stress levels of students which have been increasing in the past years. Statistics also show homework hours spent at home have also increased over the past years.REPORT COMMENTS
