Please restore our horse industry and protect the welfare of our horses by allowing horse slaughter in the United States. It is the only way to protect our horses for the horriblie deaths out of the county. It is the right thing to do!!REPORT COMMENTS

I plead with the members of Congress to not believe the "animal rights activists" on this issue. Horses are starving to death all over this country or are being shipped to Mexico for far more inhumane treatment due to the closing of slaughter plants.REPORT COMMENTS

It is way past time that our gov quit allowing people outside of Animal agriculture make the rules. It has become quite obvious that the AR crowd does not know better than ag producers and vererinarians. Over regulation at its finest. Please put a stop to this madness before there is nothing left of our freedom and country.REPORT COMMENTS

PLEASE bring back HUMANE horse slaughter! So many are suffering when all of this could be managed with humane slaughter. Jobs would be created, horses wouldn't starve to death and it could be done humanely...otherwise they are going to Mexico. WE can choose- here in the U.S. with regulations or send 'em to Mexico...you decide!REPORT COMMENTS

Having been in the horse industry for over 50 years, I have never seen the market so terrible and so many skinny horses. It is all directly tied in to a lack of an equine market/slaughter to set a base margin for the price of horses. This industry needs horse slaughter.REPORT COMMENTS

Unwanted horses are turning up abandoned and starving across Arizona. Humane slaughter is the best alternative and provides a safe way to dispose of a carcass. There is a market overseas for horse meat and Americans have no moral right to impose on other societies and cultures by reducing their access to safe food that is slaughtered humanely. A humane death in a slaughterhouse is better than starvation any day.REPORT COMMENTS

At least make the humane, regulated slaughter legal in the US to keep our horses from being shipped to Mexico where they are not regulated. Turn the horses into pet food so we can feed our beloved pets something besides corn and waste products. I do not believe humans should be eating horses not raised as food animals. Too many toxins and drugs in our US horses, but they could sure be pet food.REPORT COMMENTS
