The horse industry is in absolute crisis due to fringe elements pushing through laws against the slaughter of horses. People are actually turning horses loose that they can no longer sell or feed.Sep 2nd, 2011Someone from Gillette, WY signed.

The horse industry has been decimated. We have quarter horses that are well taken care of, but we see horses that people are just letting starve due to the value and the high price of feed. Please re-establish the killer horse plants in the US so that the price will rise for the horse people, its a shame and disgrace to see all the starving horses across our land.REPORT COMMENTS

Look at the big picture, I realize that animalrights activists were trying to do away with slauter of horses what they have done is 1. Caused horses to be shipped long distances to be slaughtered. 2. Caused values of horses to decline due to costs to ship to be slaughtered. 3. Caused Horses to be inhumanely slaughtered. 4. Caused burden on the tax payer due to the release of domestic horses to the wild that have to be taken care of by the government also breeding with wild herds. whether activists will admit it or not this is not good for the horse we need to open slaughter houses up again in the united states so that slaughter of horses can be humane and regulated.REPORT COMMENTS

Humane slaughter should be a priority when re-instating this. However, anything is better than the horrible conditions these horses go through being shipped to Mexico and Canada for slaughter. The horse industry has suffered tremendously since slaughter was banned. We NEED a bottom in this industry. Please bring slaughter back!REPORT COMMENTS

Too many horses will not save them. Use excess horses to benefit the hungry and the U.S. Treasury. Bring back humane slaughter.REPORT COMMENTS

This is something that is very needed for the US Equine industry. Horses are being starved and neglected all over the country. Our economy is in the tank with no relief in site. With the slaughter houses open it will give those owners a much better alternative than letting them starve to death. Slaughter can be done in a humane way with little stress to the animal. Again I am 100% for the reopening of the plants. This will be a huge step forward for the Equine industry as well as the economy, with new jobs opening up. Thank you for your time and consideration in this important matter.REPORT COMMENTS
