Sad but true. We need regulated and humane resources for this here in the U.S. The alternatives are INHUMANE. -

When you leave people with no options, no relief and no to turn the results are dreadful. Take responsibility for horses back and allow owners to MAKE A CHOICE. Think....I can CHoose to have a baby but I cannot Choose to slaughter my horse. Is something wrong here?!REPORT COMMENTS

This is a travesty perpetrated against real horse people and horses by people who have no idea of the effects of their actions. The knee jerk reaction of those who mean well and are against horse slaughter has caused numerous horses to be starved, dumped or sent to Mexico where there are no restrictions.REPORT COMMENTS

We desperately need to bring back equine slaughter - with oversight and the assurance of humane methods. I am a horse lover and have witnessed firsthand the suffering and neglect brought on by elimination of a humane disposal solution for unusable and unwanted horses.REPORT COMMENTS

Horse slaughter is a necessary evil. Not only are the people at the packing houses out of work , but thousands of people at sale barns are also out of work, the sale barns that are still having horse sales are in the process of having their last sale, I heard of 3 this week, one sale barn owner said at his last sale there were over 50 horses just dropped off and left, now he has to feed them because there is nowhere to go with them. As much as some don't want to admit it, horses are livestock and need to be treated as such.REPORT COMMENTS

As usual, greed ruined a necessary evil in the horse-slaughter industry. If the laws had been enforced, we would not be in this predicament. I am a life-long horse lover, but we absolutely must have legal slaughterhouses in this country.REPORT COMMENTS

As a resident of rural Nevada and a horse owner I have seen the damage done by the lack of processing facilities in the U.S. My employees have seen and found numerous domestic horses that have been dumped on Nevada's public lands because their owners can no longer aford them and/or can't sell them.REPORT COMMENTS

The lack of FDA approved horse slaughter facilities in the US has resulted in the neglect and abuse of horses. This neglect and abuse is evident in the number of horses turned out on public and private lands and has caused an extreme burden on public entities, required by law, to gather, care and dispose of stray horses. Horse slaughter plants were closed based only on emotion and not on common sense nor the welfare of horses!REPORT COMMENTS

Now that we have pushed the horse population beyond controlable limits, the care & welfare of these animals have depleated, feed prices have risen and horses everywhere are suffering and falling victim to untimely deaths.. Is PETA and the other bleeding-heart orginizations going to realise their MAJOR F-UP???? What MORE do they need to see to be accountable for their EPIC FAILURE??????REPORT COMMENTS

Please restore horse processing, it allows for human use and a place for unuseable horses to go and it supplies a source of protien to those who choose to use it. A 1200 lb horse is not small and the waste is unconscienable, when so many humans are starving.REPORT COMMENTS
