This is just wrong and unfair. I am sure more of us would have waited just a few more months before purchasing our homes. I bought mine in October 2008 and just two months later this happens!!! Something needs to be done to fix this mess

While I understand the need to prop up home sales with the new and expanded tax credits, I do not understand why those who bought homes during some of the worst parts of the slide do not receive the same benefits as those buying now that the recovery is underway. I am not necessarily unhappy with a repayment, but I am unhappy with the inequitable treatment that I have been dealt. Please do the right thing by making the $7,5000 tax "loan" into a true tax credit.

Purchased a house to try to help the economy and since the $7500 tax credit was available was a little more of an incentive to go out and buy. Come to find out if I waited i could have gotten $8000 and not had to pay it back? That is ridiculous, we should not have to pay our $7500 back!

2 weeks and we could've gotten 8K free and clear. We took the credit available, hoping, it would become a true credit like the current credits.

I would have waited a few months had I known there would be an additional $500 without repayment

How do they get more money and don't have to pay it back at all. If I would of known that I would of held out on buying a place!

I am in a financial hardship and I would be so thankful not to have to pay this back.

Bought my first home in late 2008 at a time when it was not an easy thing to do. This is insanely unfair and needs to be corrected immediately.

The law should be the same for all who took advantage of this program. My understanding was that the original bill stipulated forgiveness of the 2008 $7500 credit, but that it was removed before being passed this Nov. This factored into our accountant's recommendations and our decision at the time.

This is unfair on so many levels. I am not ungrateful that the government is trying to help out homeowners, but I feel that it should be one uniform rule across the board. Why penalize some homeowners and not the rest? Are not we all in the same economic turmoil? Just make everything uniform. Either we all pay it back or nobody pays it back. A third grader is smart enough to see how this is unfair!

IF THEY DON'T FIX IT, YOU ARE INDIFFERENT BETWEEN SELLING YOUR HOUSE AT A PROFIT OR BREAKING EVEN. That is because if you break even, they forgive whatever is left to repay on your credit, but if you make any profit, that profit gets taken away until the credit is repaid. That will put negative pressure on home prices.

Unbelievable. Our house was bank owned and they wanted to close before the new year. We helped one of the financial institutions that received a bail out and this is the thanks we get from our government!

We helped stimulate the economy by buying a home and now stuggle to continue to stay above water. We could use the extra $500.00 at tax time just the same as those who buy a house in 2009. This is not fair!
