I don't think it is fair that the 7500 dollars has to be repaid and the 8000 does not.Apr 14th, 2010Someone from Concord, NC writes:

As a struggling first time home owner who has been out of full-time work for over a year, like many other Americans, I think it only fair that we are relieved of paying back this credit, when recent buyers are getting their money for free. Just because I bought my house earlier does not mean I should be accountable while others are not. Allowing me to forgo the repayment would be a substantial help to me financially in this tough economic state.REPORT COMMENTS

We helped jump start the housing market by taking this risk at a very bad time (I was happily renting an apartment at the time), in fact, we took the biggest risk of all doing it first - why shouldn't we get a break? If I had known about the 8000.00 credit NOT having to be repaid, we definitely would of waited, it wouldn't of been a problem.REPORT COMMENTS

Not only would I have not had to repay the 7500.00 if I had waited a few more months, but I also would have avoided paying 50K more than what my house was appraised at in 2009 after the market took a dive. I am being punished for taking a chance and buying in 2008! People who waited and bought in 2009 are taking advantage of not paying back the 8000.00 and extremely lower prices on properties.REPORT COMMENTS

I am greatful for the $7500 credit. I am a single income so I was very excited, however; had I known about the 8,000 credit that would not have to be paid back I would have waited a few more months. Does this really seem fair? Thank You for your time and allowing me to express my opinionREPORT COMMENTS

I purchased my first home at the end of Nov. 2008. The fact that I could have waited a little more than a month to receive 500 more dollars that doesn't have to be paid back, really makes me sick to my stomach. This is just ridiculous!REPORT COMMENTS

I closed on my first home Nov. 12, 2008. I pushed for a closing PRIOR to the end of 2008. Now I wished I had waited since I was only a month and a half from a $8,000 non-repayment credit.REPORT COMMENTS

I just wish that I did not have to pay the 7500 back when onlyn 3 months after buying my house people got 8000 to not repay. I took a chance in a risky market and I only want what is fair!REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a teacher who used the $7500 "loan" in August, 2008, in order to live in the community where I teach at the high school (North Port, FL). Several months later, the larger "credit" was available, and I don't think I should be penalized for taking advantage of the first opportunity to get assistance.REPORT COMMENTS

Please help those that were the first to restart the housing market during all of the uncertainty! Especially with all of the confusing news about the new housing credit. At least amend the repayment to not be accelerated if another home is purchased as the original home is sold.REPORT COMMENTS

The lesson the government is teaching us here is to never act in response to one of their stimulus programs, because there will be a better one available if you wait. Not a good message to be sending.REPORT COMMENTS
