This tax credit is so unfair. How can the government give this so called credit to some and have to pay it back like myself then turn around a few months later and give an additional $500 to others and they don't have to pay it back. I was a single mother at that time trying to make it working 2 jobs and having this extra money would definitely help. It was definitely unfair to give to some and make others pay it back. I don't know how this was even allowed to happen and they need to make this credit right by treating everyone fairly. If some don't have to pay it back then we all shouldn't have too. We all work hard for our money and pay our taxes, so let's make this situation right for everyone involved. -

When i got this first time homebuyers. TAX CREDIT it was falsely introduce as a credit not a loan. If i would of known it was a loan not a credit, i would never ever had recieved it. Its not FAIR at all that all of us who recieved it first have to repay it. It put a huge burden on my financially. I hate when filing tax time comes. I stress to make sure i repay that loan(not tax credit). ITS JUST NOT RIGHT.REPORT COMMENTS

I just had someone tell me that several people in her immediate family got the $8000 tax credit and did not buy a house. And they were told for several years that they needed to reimburse this amount. Then, recently they were told the entire $8000 amount would be forgiven. She is angry and I am, too. Could this possibly be true that people scammed and lied to get the $8000 and now don't have to repay it?REPORT COMMENTS

This is totally unfair to have to repay the $7,500 first time home buyer credit. How can it be called a credit when it has to be repaid. 3 months later, I could have got more money and not had to repay. At the time, I did not know what my current situation would be. I am 69, now it is only me (there were 2 incomes at the time and I was in good health) and my social security is small, the repayment is really a financial hardship, I don't know how I am going to come up with the $500 for 2017. I am going to be forced to sell my home because I cannot afford the repayment. Please help us!REPORT COMMENTS

At this point, we have repaid over half, and it would be more helpful to keep that money within the economy. Let the money be spent to improve the economy which is a partial reason it was conceived in the first place.REPORT COMMENTS

Had we been informed of the change to go into effect 3 months later, we would have waited. How can this be OK to hold us to a credit we have to pay back when it was a free credit that was issued immediately after this that ran for 2 years?REPORT COMMENTS

Completely unfair. 2008 credit receivers should have been grandafathered in under the new rules. How can you call it a "Credit" when it has to be paid back?! More like a 15 year LOAN.REPORT COMMENTS

$7500 mistake. Wish my loan wouldn’t have gone thru for a few more days so I could have been included in first time homebuyers of 2009, and would have been given $8,000!!!! Not only was I upside down with my house once the effects of the market crash took place for several years, but repaying this loan is hurting my struggling family. PLEASE revise as it’s a hardship and is unfair.REPORT COMMENTS

FIX THIS PLEASE! As if it's not bad enough that in 2009 they gave $8,000 free and clear, they also gave $6,500 to anyone that "upgraded" their house. My friend bought a $500,000 house and received $6,500 that didn't have to be paid back. Explain to me how a person wealthy enough to buy up to a $750,000 house, which was the limit, should be given $6,500? I think that's about as backwards as things can get. The least that you could do is remove the repayment from the FTHB credit passed under Bush in 2008.REPORT COMMENTS
