I bought my house in 2008 and now it's not even worth half of what I still owe on my mortgage. Homebuyers in 2009 recieved lower house prices and better interest rates, which not only makes their payments lower than 2008 homebuyers, but they are also not as upside down in their mortgage as the 2008 homebuyers. So the people who pay more on their mortgages and their house isn't even worth anything have to spend even more money paying back the IRS. That makes a lot of sense. It just puts more people in debt in this country and more time that the country will spend in a depression. Do something congress!!!

Its outrageous that this "credit" which was supposed to stimulate the economy did nothing but put us all into more debt. If I am lucky enough to make any gains at all on my home in 2011, all of it will go right back to the government. At least let us continue the 15 year repayment plan. What creditor changes their payment plan mid stream?

As a homeowner whose house has depreciated nearly 20% from when I purchased in May 2008 I feel I should not have to repay the $7500 First Time Homebuyers Loan.

It really upsets me that my kin purchased a house in January and they dont have to pay it back. I am a single income family and it would greatly help out my financial situation if i didnt have to pay it back.

Not only is this so called tax credit unfair, it may be against the law. All citizens of the U.S. are entitled equal treatment under the law. (Including tax law) This is a type of discrimination that favors one group over another. To make this fair the government only has two options, either make the previous tax credit (from 2008) a true credit and not require it to be repaid, or require those that received a first time homeowner credit in 2009-10 to repay their credit at the same rate. How many of us rushed to buy our homes in 2008 because we were told the credit would end? I know I could have waited 3 weeks, but I didn?t have the insider information. This would make for an interesting class action suit, any lawyers out there?

Why did the U.S. Govt call it a "tax credit" if all along it was really just a "tax loan". If the 2008 law was amended and improved for 2009, it should reflect to those who purchased homes in 2008 also. Either all pay or no one pays. "We will give you $500 more and you don't have to pay it back" just doesn't make since.

As if the $8,000 not having to be repaid isn't enough, the $6,500 that they gave to people who upgraded their house was a real kick between the legs. I work with a guy that owns 23 rental properties and just sold his house to move into a $475,000 pad. Yeah he got a free and clear check from the gov for $6,500 for upgrading. Can somebody please tell me how they could get things more wrong than that? How do you take the people that are doing great and can afford to upgrade their house as opposed to lose their house, and give them free money? Hmm, I think there are a few others out there that could use the help a little more.

Why should we have to pay back when anyone 2009 up gets free money? I bought Dec 2008. Give us a break or make everyone repay, R.A. Fl.

Please act now... this is just putting more pressure on those of us who bought our homes in 2008 and are going more and more underwater each day.
