Please issue a bill that will protect the shelter animals. Unfortunately most shelters in the US are not like the one in DC, they understand what it takes to adopt out a dog or cat and they do not put them down for space which NEEDS to stop in these shelters. I am fully behind this. Its not just southern states, it is everywhere and we need help. I am sure most of you in higher positions have pets. Go home and spend time with them. Acknowledge their intelligence and emotions. Then remeber all animals have this and imagine your pet in positons these animals are in. 1 of every 10 get homes. We need stronger laws for abuse. The senseless deaths of thousands of healthy animals daily in this country is appalling. There are MANY adopters and rescuers working AROUND THE CLOCK on Facebook and Twitter willing to save them. They need more TIME! NYC alone, a list is put out nightly, people have less than 24 hours to help them. Downey shelter in CA killed kittens and a mother cat, a rescue SPOKE for them and were given ONE HOUR. They KILLED them all. PLEASE, there needs to be a nationwide change in this lack of concern for life.REPORT COMMENTS

Please think about your favorite dog/cat or any pet you had. Imagine it got lost and you find out it as at your local shelter and because the time they have there is limited, your pet is euthanized, and not the way your vet does it, while you are on the way to the shelter to get them. Imagine you decide to look for a pet online and find one you just fall in love with. You go to the shelter to get it, and while you were on your way there, the shelter euthanized it. Imagine you are volunteering at a shelter and a worker there enjoys when it is time to put one of the animals down. Imagine the fear these poor animals feel when the see the look in the eyes of the person that is ending their life. It happens every day in this country. Over and over and over. It is heartbreaking seeing healthy animals killed hourly in this country! It is tragic learning of some new cruelty inflicted on an animal, almost every minute, in this country alone, not even to mention in others. But, we should know better, and should be ashamed of how we're treating animals, especially those in so-called "shelters"... I want to see laws changed, right away, so that there are enough homes for them, and there are fewer strays, and that time is allowed to find homes. People should not be allowed to just "dump" their pets in shelters. There is a SERIOUS problem with our shelters, it needs fixing... now! Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS
