I so agree it's the best idea ever! Prison should be rehabilitating not caged like animals! This would be the best thing ever!! Having a family is what lifes about we should all have a choice to stay together not apart! It's punishment for the whole family being apart! Children need both parents regardless the situation! Early release and getting good people out back in society not keeping them years months is enough punishment unless they choose to be a non family type ! Peace love and happiness I pray everyone in prisions change and get out and stay out forever and the younger generation don't break laws and are all about doing right !! God bless America and absolutely yes to conjugal visits and overnights!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Its already hard enough on families that are affected by a prison sentence. The process for visitation, although is understandable, is tedious creating even more aggravation. Spouses should be allowed contact visitation, they are married. Most inmates incarcerated in the federal prison system are non-violent offenders. The reason the federal inmate population has tripled over the years. There are people who get more time for drug offenses than murderers, rapists, etc..To be thanked by the mass incarceration from the "war on drugs". If you have any kind of intelligence you would be aware that its a loss outdated cause. There will always be drugs in society. Violence is not coming from drugs, its happening because America fails to open their eyes to the real problem....people are released from prison guess what, they have families too, they cant find work even though they participated in training programs while in prison, no one wants to give them a second chance, therefore they return to a lifestyle they know just so they can provide for their families...it doesnt take a genuis to see this. The prison system is crap. Children are left behind, wives, husbands, etc with the financial burden of trying to continue providing. Believe me I know, its hard on me and I have 4 degrees and teach public school. I can barely afford food, I make too much money for assistance and not enough to make ends meet. The least the government could do is permit contact visits. The inmates are serving their time, why punish the whole family. These inmates are not just numbers they are husbands, brothers, fathers, uncles...they are human, and in the eyes of the Lord and Savior, they are sons and should be treated as the golden rule..do unto others as you would have done unto you.REPORT COMMENTS

Conjugal visits should be brought back for the happiness of inmates and their spouses. For whatever the reasons of the visits being removed, I think that a second chance of allowing these visits back to inmates should be taken into consideration to all qualified inmates.REPORT COMMENTS

I agree I think federal inmates should be given the chance to prove and earn a conjugal visit so not only the wife but the children know even though their away they still have a father or mother and to keep the relationship healthy going through a tough situation. BecUse in reality we are all suffering not only the prisoner but the children and wife too. I believe alot more inmates will do less trouble while incarcerated due to earning a privilege like this.REPORT COMMENTS

my husband is currently surviving a 10 year sentence. This is his only charge, before he went in he had his own business, he was in school to become a doctor. He has 3 kids, and has bent over backwards to give his family his all. Yes he knows what he did is wrong and that he is paying for it, but to not have conjugal's or "family visits" is not only a complication to any marriage on top of him already being incarcerated, but the children suffer the most. Them not being able to spend the quality time they need with there father while his in there for them to have a good relationship for when he gets is just heart breaking. For what ever reason fl doesn't have these kind of visit's is crazy to me, if its not having the funds to make these visits happen let us pay like we would pay to stay, i know that i would pay whatever the amount to get to have that bonding feeling with my family again. I don't know how far this petition will go, but i pray and hope that it gets into the hands of someone who can make a difference with this situation.REPORT COMMENTS

I think it is important for inmates to spend quality time with their family it is proven that inmates that get that extra time with their family ease back into society better so they don't go back to the choices they made. My kids miss their dad so much why do they have to be penalized?REPORT COMMENTS

It is my right as a wife of an inmate to be allowed Conjugal visits. I committed no crime , don't even have a record. Yet I am told that I can not have any contact physically with my husband. This law needs to change. The family get punished enough for their crimes. Don't deny us of our life ... yes they are paying their time, alot of time in most cases. But they and we are still human and have a right to love and be loved, including our intimate moments and have privacyREPORT COMMENTS

I agree!!! I think in this case inmates will do better and change if they were to get conjugal visits. I am married to an inmate and i must say it is pretty hard and he has trust issues and think im going to go to someone else because im out here and he's in there. I feel if the inmate and significant other are married they should be able to have conjugal visits. Maybe if the inmate is around the spouse more they will change for the better.REPORT COMMENTS

If ending a prisoners life were the intention to prisoners, then the death penalty would have been a rational punishment. In cases where the death penalty is inappropriate, so too is the slaughtering of families that did not commit the crime(s). It is unjust that innocent children and spouses become victims - overall only exponentiating the adverse affects of exactly what our government is trying to prevent. Prisoners, yes. Inhuman ? No. conjugal visits should absolutely be granted to all prisoners with an option of parole. The goal of our correctional system is to rehabilitate these men and women so that they are successful upon reentry. Ripping away their families is the most destructive and costly practice - again, victimizing those of us who pay for those costs. Families, children, taxpayers, and ultimately, humanity as a whole.REPORT COMMENTS

It's inhumane to deny human contact such as touch and love which would more effectively rehabilitate inmates as opposed to forcing many to adapt to there environment that promote homosexual tendencies to fullfill natural sexual desires you guys are creating sexual reformation.......sexuality should be a choice not forced environmental adaption......ijsREPORT COMMENTS

I think the same should be given to sex offenders in civil commitment. The whole point of sex offender treatment is to be able to have healthy sexual relationships. Besides that, the homosexuals are already having relations while locked up either in prison or civil commitment treatment facilities. Why shouldn't heterosexuals be able too?REPORT COMMENTS
