So first I was to say that maintaining family bonds and keeping families together is so so important! It helps with rehabilitation and reduces recidivism and keeps that connection between loves ones. Is is inaccurate though that stare prisons usually serve 50-65% of their times and receive conjugal visits. It is actually 85% and only 3 states currently still have conjugal visits. So please at least post the correct into. I believe all state and federal prisons should allow for conjugal visits. To maintain healthy relationships between husband and wife as well as the bond with children and a parent. -

I agree for conjugal visit family need to spend time with love one because i visit my husband and i see the wife's and kids crying because their love one can't spend the time with their love one meaning spending days with their father or mother that lock up .I worried about the children s kids sometimes not going to tell their hurt when their mom or dad lock up and they get angry they do bads things because their angry inside i know because i live with that and it made things harder on me because my son kept getting in trouble because his dad was lock up so we do need conjugal visit for the kids who parents marry that keep the kids out of trouble.REPORT COMMENTS

While I agree with the concept of this. Please for the love of God..if you expect to be taken seriously ..use proper grammar and punctuation. Also, research, not all states have conjugal visits so that is not a valid statement ( New York and California are the only 2) We should be lobbying for ALL prisons ( state and federal) to allow family visits. Long term relationships should be included also...not just married couples since not all had an opportunity to get married before going in and not all prisons allow inmates to get married. I do think paying for an overnite isnt a bad idea...something like a hotel system? X amount of $$ per night? Good luck and stay strong prison families!REPORT COMMENTS

I think this should go for more than just married spouse. Ive been with my guy for 8 years not married but just because im not married i shouldnt be entitled to this. Iowa were common law where hes at we are not. The states that still allow this have less offenders re-offending due to stronger family ties. There is also less violence and rapes in their prisons. Though I believe that the S.O. also need to be given this opportunity. Family ties are the number one prevention of S.O. re-offending. Though the number of S.O.s who re-offend is lower than any other type of offender to begin with so refusing them the means has no grounds.REPORT COMMENTS

Conjugal visits should be approved , sentencing our love ones for long prison time gives them enough time to change and become a better person, why not offer them the chance to built a family , which would actually help them avoid problems in prison, and look forward to earning good conduct time to be with their family. This is too much of a punishment families are being hurt, and we are all humans we make mistakes that help us learn. Why not give them a second chance in life and built a family which they would prefer looking out for them making the same mistake years without freedom do change inmates.
