Many prisoners get out of prison and have lasting mental problems due to confinement and being cut off from their families with not conjugal visits. That creates an even bigger burden for our society. I'm all for conjugal visits, especially for the protection of the mind of those that will one day get out and mingle with the rest of us in society.Oct 19th, 2016Janelle E. from Fresno, CA signed.

This should be allowed. It would help everyone. Then when most married offenders get out and back into society it helps them feel still arpart of there family and it can go smoother. Just not allowed to be out in society commiting more crimes is all I think that is a win win plus MEN don have to be so pint up and angry just a thought lol.REPORT COMMENTS

the well-being of inmates would increase dramatically with conjugal visits allowing a safer environment for employees at state prisons and longer lasting marriages not needing to have divorce it's a healthy way to keep a family together wives that are married to men and that are incarcerated should not have to suffer and be alone why their husbands are doing time they should be able to have what they consummated during marriage no matter what happens till death do them part right?REPORT COMMENTS

My fiance is possibly facing up to 10 years in Prison and not only will a conjugal visit be beneficial to him but myself as well. This would help with the separation and angst that we are going through and prisoners deserve the chance to reconnect and rehabilitate. This will Help.REPORT COMMENTS

My husband took a plea bargain, first, by being threatened, then, out of fear of loosing his case, and getting possibly life. My husband IS innocent, without a doubt. We just don't have funds available to hire a lawyer that isn't afraid to fight against corruption in the system. We are fighting though. So our family was ruined in the blink of an eye, and he did nothing wrong. Let alone my husband was taken away from me, and my family, and we are getting punished just as harshly as my husband. Conjugal visits are only rehabilitative, and give families something to hold on to. So, you have an innocent man ripped from his family, then tell him he can't touch his wife for only a breif moment, can only be a hug, and he can only have an hr or so to be with his family. Not only is that degrading to my husband, but how is that rehabilitative to other inmates, and their families!REPORT COMMENTS

My husband has been in Federal for almost 9 years, since then the only contact me have is hug a small kiss. I strongly believe that if there are Prisons that allow conjugal visits that all Prisoners should have the same rights. No one should be told if they're married that they're not allowed to spend time with their family and spouses. If this were to pass, the rules would need to be strict. If the rules are not followed visits can be suspended or just cancelled for a certain amount of time. Also, this will help the inmates and the family come closer together. Every inmate deserves a chance to have family time with their kids and spouses at least once a month or twice in 6 months. Please give this a chance.REPORT COMMENTS

Studies and evidence shows that criminals in America are repeat offenders. This is evidence to show that policies and procedures in place are not effective. While Norway relies on a concept called "restorative justice," which aims to repair the harm caused by crime rather than punish people. This system focuses on rehabilitating prisoners. Many individuals who go to prison there only go once. The system obviously is doing something right and America should adapt their system to an approach that is similar.REPORT COMMENTS

Please let my family have conjugal visits in Virginia. 12 years after a crime, staying out of trouble and never getting out of Prison. Ever. Someone has a family or friends who will support them through Life in Prison and give them the strength to continue seeking therapy, spirituality, restitution, and positive work ethics to be a non dangerous inmate. Is that what we want as a Society, instead of Inmates just wanting to give up and die? This is a young guy, his whole life ahead. Why could he not have a bit of support through the long Journey? Even if Inmates are never being released, we should be focused on Rehabilitation. This can be done cost efficiently and will improve overall health and safety for workers and prisoners.REPORT COMMENTS

What wouldn't I give to cuddle with my love, I miss him terribly and it's affecting the family not just the prisoners. Please consider us as well, as we're already struggling with everything else out here, without the husbands help. I know a lot of prisoners whom took a plea deal for fear to lose the case and be given double the time. They are family people and should be able to spend more alone time with their spouses and family.REPORT COMMENTS

It's understandable that they've committed a crime and have to face some type of punishment, but by not allowing married offenders to have conjugal visits is in a sense contributing to the further breakdown of families in society. Intimacy is as necessary in marriage as oxygen is to breathe, there is absolute death without it. Keeping marriages together should be a high priority, being that offenders who have families and support systems to return to are less likely to return to prison and isn't that most important? It should definitely be used as a way to reward good behavior and that would decrease offenses commited by offenders. I sincerely hope that the advantages of this are recognized and considered.REPORT COMMENTS
