A few of us who have worked diligently in both the public and private sectors have been shocked to learn exactly what WEP and GPO do to us. It really hurts to be sold down the river. Please pass the Social Security Fairness Act.REPORT COMMENTS

25 years federal government and 15 years in private industry paying much social security. I have diabetes and other health issues. Health premiums continue to rise so copays also rise. My portion of my meds are over $200 per month. If you are not willing to allow me to receive Social security when I am of age then STOP TAKING IT FROM ME! THAT IS STEALING. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO REGISTER WITH THE POLITICIANS THAT THIS IS A UNJUST PRACTICE AND WE ARE ALL HARD WORKING FOLKS THAT HAVE EARNED OUR WAY SO THAT WE COULD BE SOMEWHAT COMFORTABLE IN RETIREMENT. I WONDER HOW THEY WOULD FEEL IF THEY WORKED HARD ALL THEIR LIFE AND THEN HAD TO TELL THEIR GROWN CHILDREN THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TO LIVE ON AND WILL HAVE TO MOVE IN THEIR BASEMENT!REPORT COMMENTS

After 20 years of paying into SS here in USA and 27 years of hard and low pay work before in Poland my retirement benefits all together were $1,240. Because of WEP reduction $236 (80% of polish benefit) my current benefits together are $ 1,004.After 47 years of work I am poor, old man. I need to mention that SS benefit after reduction is much lower that SSI. As a legal US resident I have never used welfare or similar help because it is below my dignity and now what? How to exist for $ 1,004. WEP makes me a beggar!! When living under communism in Poland I had dreamed about freedom and justice in USA. Now I got it - freedom to go under bridge and justice for rich.REPORT COMMENTS

This in regards to the Social Security Windfall Elimination Provision I retired after 30 years of service in the Fire Department and receive a pension I do not expect to receive any benefits from Social Security base on any earnings from the department since we have a pension and did not contribute. I have work other jobs over the past 30 years and have paid into social security I am currently working and paying into social security I will be working till I reach retirement age I feel that it is unfair that my benefits will be cut because I worked outside the system while working for the city I only ask that we should all receive the benefits we earned. For most of us it is a small amount but in today ecommony it means a lot. Many others and I urge you and Congress or any Committee to repeal this rule and pass The Social Security Fairness Act Thank You Stephen Vidurek 4070 Chardonnay Drive Viera Florida 32955 e-mail bfdbc@hotmail.com My second issue is health care reform I just recently received an increase in my health care cost We have received an increase every year since retiring in 2002 we now pay out over a $1100 a month for health care when is this going to stop at some point in my retirement I will have to decide on either health care or paying my monthly bills I am all in favor of paying my share for health care but enough is enough when will the average working person receive some relief since retiring I have gone back to work in order to make ends meet Thank You Steve VidurekREPORT COMMENTS

My spouse and I both have worked as law enforcement officers. We have been retired now for over 20 years and we have worked throughout those years and for years before going on LAPD. We have more than earned our SS benefit, never abusing the SSI or disability parts of Social Security. We learned of the Windfall Provision Act when we applied for our SS. We now plan to continue working until we pass on. Between the two of us it was a cut of 1200$ a month. This is so absolutely unfair...once again it is redistribution of wealth...right some wealth....1200$ a month!!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I wonder if our politicians would like it if they invested money into a fund and didn't get any benefits from that fund. I know they would be extremely irate. Well, I am irate because I only receive about 30% of what I should receive from my investment in social security. It is very unfair.REPORT COMMENTS
