Diggy almost got taken from his loving home because he LOOKED like a pitbull when he was actually an American Bulldog. I think the powers that be should be required to take a DNA test to prove a dog is a pitbull. Why should a dog be convicted before proof has been shown?

Breeds aren't "vicious" - almost any dog can be trained to be aggressive and non-socialized. Contrarily almost any dog can be raised to be social and "safe". It's the owner's issues not the animal's.

BSL is just a waste of tax payers dollars.. in a world where money is becoming hard to come by & shelters are full of dogs dying every day just because of what they look like , this is an ancient law that needs to be banished..So the dogs don't have to be...

Breed Specific Legislation makes it harder to adopt these "being bullied breeds" because only rescues can get them from shelters, some don't adopt them out. Maybe the government should be trying to help these breeds instead of banish, abandon, and kill them (like shitty monster pet owners). Working on a tax relief for people who do spay & neuter, or find a way to gently encourage Spay & Neuter as well as licensing. Good people with families want dogs, cats and critters of all breeds.

Breed-specific bans are irrational and cruel; stop legislating out of unwarranted fear.

Many complexes forbid not only Pit Bulls, but also German Shepherds, Dobermans, etc. I think that's totally unfair. These animals, and I have known many, are loving and wonderful. It all depends on the owner how these animals, and all animals, behave. Show a dog love and you will receive love in return. Funds should be used to target puppy mills and close them forever!

It is not fair to discriminate against a breed. There are not bad dogs onky people that should not own dogs. I have been bit by a small dog and was told he is just high strung.

Judging a dog by its breed is like judging a person by their race. It is prejudice.

I have a Pit Bull and he is the most lovable dog ever. He wants hugs from everyone, and has never even attempted to be anything but a big love bug.

While I know there are people who have been seriously wounded or killed by pit bulls, I believe public funds would be put to better use by educating the public on puppy mills and shutting them down, and on spay/neuter programs.

It is not the breed that is the problem; it is the owners who make them turn out that way. Treat a dog with love, kindness and respect and they will turn out as a wonderful member of a family. (especially rescues, they will thank you every day for saving them)
