Please leave our American wild horses free on public lands. They are an American symbol of freedom and of our history. They are protected just as the American bald eagle!Aug 11th, 2015Someone from Cleveland, OH writes:
Please stop the removal of the West Douglas wild horse herd and the Piceance-East Douglas herd. These wild horses are a significant part of America's heritage. They represent our history, our freedom, and hopefully our future. Wild Horses evolved on the North American continent. They are considered a returned native species. Removing them from the range is both dangerous for the horses and detrimental to the Americans who love them. Horses are flight animals. Helicopters cause stress, fear, and panic which can lead to injuries and even death. It's inhumane. Horses have a very specific social structure and the unnatural manipulation of that by humans is devastating to the herds. If too many horses are removed, the genetic viability of the herd will drop which can lead to inbreeding. The Bureau of Land Management already has close to 50,000 wild horses in government holding facilities. Adding even more horses to these facilities is draining money from tax-payers and causing the horses to live in unnatural and often inhumane conditions. Please stop the roundup of both of these herds and give these horses the protection the deserve.REPORT COMMENTS

These horses have co-existed for nearly 500 years with other wild animals as well as people. LEAVE THEM ALONE! They adapt well to change, but change should not be elimination and eventual extinction. These horses belong to the PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES--Not the agencies and government. This is against the law. These are protected species that are to be PROTECTED not destroyed by the BLM. I do not want one penny of my taxes spent on eliminating MY resources--the wild horses or any other living creature.REPORT COMMENTS
