I moved from a $1700 a month BAH to a $800 BAH where that is nowhere even close to what it costs to rent a halfway decent house. Forced to live on base unless I wanted to come out of pocket. Yet, my Child Support hasn't changed to factor the almost $11k annual pay reduction.

How can we provide for our children and be there for them when it is a struggle just for us to survive when this is considered. Yet our experience spouse will live comfortably with no worries and we look like dead beat fathers/mothers because of it.

This is right on time. When I got my divorce I was ordered to pay 900 in child support because my BAS and BAH. Well with my BAH my rent was 1100 and now they are taking that from me so I am forced to get another job to make ends meet.

I am one of the many who was affected by this situation when I was active duty. Now that I've a veteran, I still don't see any relief from the courts and I don't have any of the entitlements that are considered, however, I still have to pay child support based on my military income.

This issue has hurt my family for the last decade, no one will listen to include the judges. When you get orders to live in a high cost area there is NO consideration of what it actually cost you to live there. It's just more income to the courts. Specifically stationed in Los Angeles where i pay $2,200 a month in rent alone, the court looks at my high BAH and increased my income over $3k causing my child support for my children who don't live in LA to be increased.

This is so true, I was in Afghanistan when I was going through divorce, so the mom got everything she asked for and left me with once a month supervised visitations . I remarried with 3 kids and when I went to court to lower my 760 child support the judge only counted me responsible ,the mom doesn't have a job and takes child support from 2 different kids she had and lives in her grandmother's house ,so she has no bills to pay for . I am left with about 50 dollars every month after paying bills and everything else . I hope that this changes . I work so hard to provide for my family and it feels like I do nothing .
