NYS child support laws are the worst! The income of the custodial parent was not even taken into consideration. She makes way more than me. My financial obligations for my other child was not even taken into consideration. NYS does not care about my other child and how I need to support both children equally. So my older child gets $700 a month and my youngest child gets nothing! I really have no money to help out financially after they take out child support for my oldest child. Also, I have very little money to maintain my own basic needs. So NYS is actually pushing my youngest child into poverty. I cry because I'm trying. If I get another part-time job, Im afraid she will take me back to court when she is eligible for COLA and take me back for more $$$. I'm getting the second job to help out with my youngest child. The second job will take time way from visiting my first child and only seeing my youngest child late at night leaving vey little time for play, interaction, etc. Now I know why some parents just say, I'm working off the books. The system is broken. And for the ppl living off child support as their primary income and collecting state aid, your day is coming. You need to get a damn job! This country is going to HELL! Please reform the system NOW.....

This system has forced me to father my kids only by phone calls. I can't afford to spend that much time with my children because my support so high I have to work 7 days a week to make ends meet. Meanwhile, their mother does the absolute least she can and only puts her own interests first.

While there is a clear societal interest in keeping those who are unfit to drive off the roads, broadly restricting licenses for violations unrelated to an individual?s ability to drive safely may do more harm than good. This is especially true in areas of the country that lack alternative means of transportation. For those individuals, a valid driver license can be a means to survive. Local communities, employers and, employees all experience negative consequences as a result of social non-conformity suspensions, including unemployment, lower wages, fewer employment opportunities and hiring choices, and increased insurance costs. People who are able to legally drive are more likely to have stable employment.

DNA testing should not have a time limit it isn't fair that people are taking care of other people children and being punished for not paying child support

The laws are totally outdated and ufair to the father. The state of SC told me that basically my other children do not matter to them,I pay child support to two different women, but they will not even consider my other children or their expenses, health coverage, clothing ,food, housing and family activities. It's a waste of time to go for a child support reduction, because they will not listen to you, look at your paper work or consider any other support outside the case,so you end up struggling.I don't get food stamps like the mothers do,or free health care,no kind of government assistance at all,the mothers get to claim the children also, and the great state if SC doesn't see anything wrong with that. They really need to change the laws.

I'm a mother who pays child support and I don't make a lot of money. Every two years my support gets increased without any concerns to my financial situation. I'm not allowed to even claim one of my children on my taxes even though I'm paying child support and supplying medical coverage that I'm paying for. I can't go back to school because I can't afford to pay bills and school. The courts don't care for the financial circumstances that I may be suffering at the time. I'm being treated like a dead beat parent even though I pay my child support religiously every week. I think when a child graduates from high school a child should go out and get a job and the parents should help the child with school but I shouldn't have to keep paying child support till the child is 25 cause they are in school full time. Them getting jobs builds character and teaches them how to pay there own way. New Jersey child support laws are horrible and they punish the person paying child support. I remarried and my husband also pays child support as well; while his ex-wife sits home all day getting a check for his daughter cause the mother claims his daughter has ADHD. Not mention she get welfare and disability for all three of her kids who supposedly have ADHD. Yet he can't catch a break either. Child support reform is a long over due need.

In my case. I have joint custody and I turn in w-2's. I work 50 hrs a week. My ex is self employed and couldn't verify her income and works 25 hrs a week by choice. I also have child care included in my child support which I recently got evidence of the daycare provider working at my ex's business while my kids grandmother watches them. My ex will not provide me with child care receipts and the daycare provider say she doesn't receive pay or claims any income on her taxes from child care or employment.

If one parent is self employed and cannot verify income ans there is joint custody, I believe no child support should be paid or at least weigh what 1 parent works for hours can the other parent.

In 2009, I applied for state assistance for my son and daughter and received Child Care Assistance and Food Stamps from the state of Missouri. I was out of work and teaching myself how to program in HTML, JavaScript and CSS. My kids mother worked full time at the time making 50k+ a year. We split the time with the kids evenly and I was still ordered to pay child support. I was receiving 250.00 a week in unemployment and they were taking that from me even though she made way more than I was making. The state of Missouri was giving me assistance. Weird huh? Fast forward 2 years later, I started a job as a web developer and all that time, the arrears were building up but no one in Jefferson City, Mo. would listen to me when I told them I had the kids with me most of the time and I was receiving benefits from the state. Till this day, I am still ordered to pay the child support and the mother is married and is a stay at home mom to their child. I make REALLY good money now as a front end mobile and web developer- through my hard work and need to support my kids especially my daughter, while she sits at home and spend more time Salsa Dancing in her spare time while she collects child support payments. Please tell me how that's fair? Please tell me why I work my butt off while she doesn't. I get that she has a 2 year old but Salsa dancing 20 hours a week but refuse to work with me to put our son in activities? She collects money for our mildly autistic daughter and money each month for child support. THANK YOU MISSOURI FOR ENABLING INSTITUTIONS LIKE THIS. Can't blame her when stuff like this is allowed.

I have custody of my 4 kids three less days a month than their mother. Yet, I still have the standard child support being taken out of my income. My x wife has recently remarried .. And their income surpasses my income with out my child support. There is no accountability in how she uses my support. She has taken all of the kids out of sports.. Because she says she can't afford it... Yet... In two years .. She and her new husband alone... Have been on 4 trips. Enough is enough.

I completely agree that child support is biased to the mother. There are tons of good father's that are manipulated by women using child support. I want to see child support be used for the child and it not considered as a source of income by the mother.

The system needs to be reformed to induce and encourage family unity. No two cases are the exact same and should be treated that way. I propose legislation that will remove "Jail" sentencing as it interferes and defeats the purpose of emotional and financial support for the child(ren). Child support should ONLY apply to 1) Recipients who are clearly below the income poverty line. Then once their income improves they are no longer eligible. 2) Those who willfully refuse to care for their own. 3) Those who put their child(ren) life/general welfare in danger. Just because a mother says "his financial and emotional assistance isn't enough, isn't enough for the courts to mandate a set payment for her. If you both work and they is giving the other financial assistance without a court order and retains proof of receipts...then child support should NOT be awarded/mandated as they are within their means taking care of the child(ren) and does not need to be made to pay child support.

AND! If your kids parent is a waiter/waitress that doesnt claim tips. That shouldnt be fair to the other parent when wages are based on how much to pay for support. My ex makes tips and works for cash and somehow that doesnt matter in the child support office. ITS BS!
