I have worked incredibly hard to evade the clutch of preconceived notions about character, and preclusion in the workplace, however Virginia's staunch position on felony expungement has made it incredibly difficult to advance in the enterprise space. This needs to change for everyone. How much time is adequate!? -

My father was a lawyer and his belief that everyone should have a second chance. To punish a one time non-violent felon who has been clear for 12 years in unconscionable. When are you going to finally get rid of this totally unfair law??!!!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

One who is innocent of a crime after the fact, should not have to file for anything to clear their name, It should be a automatic. Second, Sex Offender registry is ridiculous. A crime that doesn't involve the ACT OF SEX, should NOT be on the list. Secondly, the SOR list should not be made for public access via the web. What happened to protect all americans. Fraud, privacy ect should be considered. After all how many Gov., mayors, or Senators alogn with many high profile politicians could be on this list yet never make it cause they know who to buy the judges. Or create a law or change one to protect them from being humiliated as other are being done everyday. Murders get better protection. This country doesn believe in Second Chances, it believes in making money on the low class by putting folks in prison and pay for their mistakes forever!REPORT COMMENTS

Also, ones past and/or changes shouldn't be retroactive when a new law is set forth. Sex Offenders shouldn't be placed on the registery due to a crime or change that WASN'T A SEX ACT. IT IS WRONG! The Sex Registry should be reviewed. It is not right that ones personal information from work to home address is out for the public to see. Murders who have killed more than once get better protection than Sex offenders. This country says, its about bettering the lives of all American's. Its also sad to know how the system is set up to protect certain class of people who can buy the judges to protect high profile folks in government and their families.REPORT COMMENTS

I know people that have only had one conviction for a non-violent crime, and they cannot get it removed. They have been fine, law abiding citizens since then. They are now in their 50's and the theft was when they were in their early 20's. Not fair.REPORT COMMENTS

My nephew is a veteran of the Iraq War with PTSD. He blacked out, dressed in his fatigues and got in trouble with the law. He is out and doing well and trying to make a new life for himself. He deserves a 2nd chance as well as restoration of most of his rights. Please consider passing this legislation.REPORT COMMENTS

It was found in a court of law that the criminal charges I not have on my record are a result of my service in the U.S. Army (PTSD). I pulled my time, got a degree from college and have yet to obtain a job because of these charges. Where is the justice and reward of merit at in my case?REPORT COMMENTS

I was arrested for a non violent drug felony in 2007. served almost 4 years in federal prison and 3 years of supervised release. I didn't know that my conviction would be a life sentence. I was a kid when this happened, now I have a family, business which employees 10 people but I'm always in the shadow of my conviction. Im now 33 years old but my past is somehow always in front of me.REPORT COMMENTS
