I would like to see the new law passed. I am a 37 year old woman who has three criminal things on my background that are non expungable but are 18 years old and yet it has prevented me from obtaining certain jobs. It hurts to know I have to limit myself to what I can apply for. I'm not asking for sympathy just a true second chance in life. I have not committed a criminal crime since then. My charges were theft less than $100, credit card of another, and forgery of a check. I was young and dumb! First time offense and I felt with the consequences. I just wish that after so many years of no criminal activity and or a number of years has gone by guilt or not it should be expungable. With either probation and if found guilty of another criminal act while on probation then your previous charges can reappear. Something has to give

I commited felonies in the state of Virginia before I turned 22. I've been a law abiding citizen since. I'll be 48 next month. I got my civil rights restored by Virginia's governor and my firearm rights restored by a Virginia circuit court judge. I've been a Maryland resident for the past 14 years. I hold 2 concealed carry non resident permits including one from Virginia. Because Virgina doesn't espunge felonies Maryland still sees them on my record and will not recognize the courts restoration of my gun right so I'm not allowed to purchase a handgun in Maryland. Because each state is allowed to do their on thing, I'm not sure if I can excerise my concealed carry permits without violating the law since my home state believes I'm not eligible to purchase a firearm. This is an example of how someone can do everything the law requires to become whole and it's still not good enough.

It is inhumane of the law to not expunge a simple hydrocodone possession record, which causes complications finding work and renting places to live! I am not a drug dealer, drug addict or dangerous person, nor do I need to be profiled for the rest of my life! I told the courts the truth, that I had the hydrocodone pills for my teeth because I could not afford a dentist! This needs to end! People's simple possession records need to be cleared! I did my time and it is over! You have no right to sit on my life! I am not your slave!

Was convicted of breaking & entering when 19, offense happened when 18, now I am almost 55 years old. I never left the car & it was NOT planned. I was told accomplices get charged with the SAME CRIME! How do you do a burglary from your car seat? I have over 22 years service as a STATE employee, received college degree & promoted into STATE office position. Rights restored! ALL rights INCLUDING the right to own a firearm should be restored, unless you were convicted of a VIOLENT Crime such as Rape, Murder, Child Molestation! POLICE have committed MANY violent crimes & they still have a job & their guns! WHO is dangerous with a gun? Police that think they have a right to beat or shoot someone running away from this. POWER corrupts! GOD complex & a gun, equals dead "no body, run of the mill working poor." Watch the Hunger Games - the capitol wants everyone working 70 hours a week, kept poor & powerless, while they live the lap of luxury!

This is messed up I'm still being punished for something I did when I was 19. I made a mistake I get it. I should be given a 2nd chance. I never hurt anyone. I have a baby and and so difficult to find a job. The law doesn't let you improve yourself. It holds you back.

It's ashame that an illegal immigrant can commit a felony by crossing the boarder and still get a better job than me and more rights than me, a person who is..and comes from several generations of ....'American Tax Paying Citizens'.

Non-violent felons who have completed their sentence and probation satisfactorily should be able to be pardoned and have their records sealed without paying ridiculously high attorney fees. Most are simply trying to become employable. Shame on us for punishing me hem for the rest of their lives!

I am a college-educated, well-adjusted mother. I had my rights restored in 2013. I became a Notary in 2014. My conviction is 8 years old. (non-violent, non-drug related, non-sex offender offense).I was sentenced to PROBATION ONLY. NO incarceration!! My probation ended in 2010. ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER CHARGES SINCE THAT TIME. Although my rights have been restored, I have been the victim of several lay offs, which makes me extremely vulnerable in the job market because of my felony conviction. With each resume that I email or mail, I pray that my education and vast experience will overshadow my conviction and that potential employers will see my true value and character. There is a huge misconception about convicted felons. Most people think that every felon has served time in prison or jail. This is NOT the case. Some non-violent offenders, like myself, have never spent a single day in confinement, yet we are all lumped together under the same stereotype. I understand that employers want to ensure that they're hiring the best person for the position. However if the "true" intention of the legal system is to rehabilitate, then non-violent offenders should have paid their debts to society should not continually be the victims of what I call "background discrimination".

Everyone deserves to start over like it never happened for many crimes. It has been 15 years since I took a plea deal to avoid possibility no jail time and now it keeps me from living up to my potitial in life.
