Being one who would benefit from said legislation, I feel a poor choice made in my early 20's should not haunt me for the rest of my life. After 30 years without any further criminal activities. One should be allowed to enter into full civil rights status.

I think it is time to give people a clear second chance and remove the obstacles for them to do so.

I have worked in higher education for many years. I have students who had a single misdemeanor conviction in their late teens early 20s. Fast forward 10, 20 plus years with no other issues with the law. It's unfair to not allow someone a second chance.

I am an attorney with two clients who are great citizens and would benefit immensely from this legislation and deserve its benefit. Both made their mistake years ago when then were new to this country and led astray by others trying to get by as best they could. Neither of them committed crimes of violence and neither went astray but once. Since their misdeed, they have led exemplary lives and made meaningful contributions to this country and mankind. They do not need a firearm nor do they desire one. They merely need the "felony" removed from their criminal history.

My crime was 12 years ago after moving there when I was forced to leave New orleans because of Hurricane Katrina , I lived in Virginia for 2 years as a result I made one mistake that ended in 6 months suspended time and 2 "minor" (non violent) felonie's that have ruined my life. I still live with my parents. I can't find steady work, even with a college degree.

I agree, young illegal immigrants should be allowed to apply for legal status and work permits, this will help individuals become law-abiding tax paying citizens in the United States. Records which have been pardoned should be sealed, and not visible to anyone unless and until that person commits another crime. The percentage for recidivism is low, once an individual has been granted a pardon, however, there is room for employer discrimination if the criminal history can still be viewed! Thank you

I too was convicted of felonies almost 20 years ago. I have had all my rights reinstated including my firearm rights and concealed carry permit. I have been denied a job because of something I did when I was 18. I agree there should be certain rules and stipulations to removing or sealing that bad mark on our record. I worked hard since I messed up to rectify my mistakes and have since gotten married have kids and a career in the electrical field in which I had to be granted permission to get my masters electrical license so I could move forward in my career. People don't take in consideration all the aspects this "Mark" has in ones life until you have to live it. Please make it right for for all the ones that has changed and done the right thing. Thank you for reading.

If we are a country that believes in second chances, we should give second chances which means that laws need to be enacted that expunge criminal activity to a specific level after a certain number of years. Maybe 10 years of clean living after completion of the entire sentence should be enough to wipe the slate clean. In this country once you commit a crime you will either be forced into low paying jobs or you need to be disciplined enough to be your own boss. This is the reason most criminals reoffend. They learn it is easier on the inside than on the outside where you can't get a good job or a decent place to live.

Got a felony in VA 30 years ago when just as I turned 19. I have spent the last 20 years working in banks. Now with the new finger printing requirements, I have been declined the same jobs at the same banks that I have been doing for the last 20 years. I have always been very proud to be the sole provider for my family, and my wife having the option to not work. Now they have taken that away from me. And they wonder why so many people end up back in jail. They strip away any dignity by not allowing you to make a living.

I WAS CONVICTED OF 1 EMBEZZLEMENT MISDEMEANOR in Virginia state IN 2014, SHOPLIFTING UNDER 200$ I WORKED HARD AFTER THAT, I RECEIVED MY BACHELOR DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND HOLD 7 CISCO AND COMPTIA, PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS. EVERY TIMES WHEN I GOT A JOB INTERVIEW AND THEY GIVE ME AN OFFER BUT AS SOON AS THEY CHECK MY BACKGROUND THEY SEE MY MISDEMEANOR AND THEY DENY ME. I TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT I DID I DONT BLAME NO ONE FOR IT. I JUST HOPE ONE DAY THEY WILL COME OUT WITH NEW LAW TO EXPUNGE IT. OTHERWISE I HAVE TO MOVE FROM THIS COUNTRY, STUDENT LOAN IS KILLING ME. TODAY WE SEE A FOREIGN WHO WORK FOR NICE COMPANY AND MAKE 6FIGURES. THE REASON WHY I DID THAT IS BECAUSE AT CERTAIN MOMENT I LOST MY FAITH AND HOPE,
