One simple mistake in life and I been paying the price for over 5 years. Middle class and lower class America are the ones who suffer the most, where upper class who are roughly not even 5%, get away with so much. Is this fair, for one mistake and I have to suffer for all my life.REPORT COMMENTS

9 yrs ago I was convicted for distribution of 1 single ounce of marijuana. I was young and dumb, but I did not hurt anyone and I am not a repeat offender. I finished probation with no issues what so ever. This charge has affected my life dramatically, and will continue to do so forever unless are government can find forgiveness with non violent offenses. I just today was reminded how this charge will forever hurt me. My son has his first big field trip coming up and I was going to be a volunteer parent. But found out this morning that I will never be able to chaperone any of my sons trips, nor volunteer in his school. This is devastating to me, and I don't know how to explain to my 8 yr old why mommy can't do these things with him. Please, please consider sealing non violent offense criminal history and offering expungments to those who truly deserve it.REPORT COMMENTS

Everyone makes mistakes in life. Everyone deserves a second chance. The unemployment rate is so high because people can't get jobs if there is anything on their record, or they end up limiting themselves to mediocre jobs that don't pay enough to survive. Instead of ban the box we need expungement to move ahead in life. We are branded for life in some states like VA while other states give people second chances.REPORT COMMENTS

I have gotten my rights restored in Virginia. Its been 7 years since my conviction and I can't get a job in my field that I went to college for. I don't understand how your rights can be restored, but not be able to compete in your career field due to your past. Being a felon makes it a death sentence for career growth in the United States. How is having your rights restored not the same as having your rights as a normal US citizen? I know every person that signed this petition understands what im going through and wants what we can't have, a second chance, a better career, and to have a clean slate. Please pass this bill we deserve to be citizens without any catches.REPORT COMMENTS

An individual granted a Pardon of any type, based upon the same factors that were used in awarding the Pardon; should be eligible to have their record sealed/expunged. The process involved in the Restoration of Rights and a favorable decision should be the determining factor.REPORT COMMENTS
