This bill shows that there are 2 distinct groups of criminals. Those that are violent and can't be trusted and those that are non-violent and truely sorry for their mistake. I was convicted of a non-violent felony as a juvenile (theft >$250), and am suffering through this "civil death sentence". In the eyes of many employers, especially the federal gov't/military, I am in the same group as rapists and murders. And contrary to popular belief, juvenile convictions are NOT expunged nor are they off-limits to background checks. I graduated from college and have led an exemplary life since, yet I have been denied employment in public service jobs because of my one life mistake. I pray that this bill passes so that myself and others like me can finally begin to move on and fulfill our potential.REPORT COMMENTS
