It seems strange that we would convict, incarcerate and "rehabilitate" but refuse to forgive.

I was convicted of Theft of Interstate Commerce under $1000 17 years ago and it has negatively impacted my life to this day. Competitors in the marketplace use this against me on an ongoing basis.

This bill shows that there are 2 distinct groups of criminals. Those that are violent and can't be trusted and those that are non-violent and truely sorry for their mistake. They are the ones that deserve a second chance. Just as Obama said when Micheal Vick was given one by the Eagles.

I vote! Please sign this bill. It makes no since to sentence someone to life for a non-violent offense. Think about it.

I was convicted of a non-violent felony as a juvenile (theft >$250), and am suffering through this "civil death sentence". In the eyes of many employers, especially the federal gov't/military, I am in the same group as rapists and murders. And contrary to popular belief, juvenile convictions are NOT expunged nor are they off-limits to background checks. I graduated from college and have led an exemplary life since, yet I have been denied employment in public service jobs because of my one life mistake. I pray that this bill passes so that myself and others like me can finally begin to move on and fulfill our potential.

A person who has straightened out their life and paid for their wrongdoings should have a second chance

I feel any non violent crime felon should have a second chance provided they have been on the right path for atleast 10 years.
