I am not a felon. However I have various members of my family and friends who are. They are not repeat offenders. They just made a bad decision. Mostly when they were younger. Decisions that many people probably make and just happen to not get caught. After they have served their sentences and time has passed to show they are not repeat offenders they should have the same rights the rest of us have. We all have to have access to healthcare and be equal in all sorts of other ways. This should be one of those ways as well. -

The felony I received in 2003 (attempted-burglary) has caused me countless headaches... inability to get certain nice apartments, increased scrutiny in job related areas... anyhow, i have since finished 3 years of college and will soon get my B.I.S. -- hopefully this one mark on my record will not hinder me too much. This legislation would be a godsend to me, my wife, and three children, period.REPORT COMMENTS

15 years ago, when I was 19 years old, my boss cancelled my last paycheck because I quite. I made a bad choice and wrote another check to myself using a company checkbook. That check went out in the morning mail.. I was convicted of mail fraud. I paid restitution and was given probation. 15 years later and I am still being punished for that crime. I just want to be considered a normal citizen.REPORT COMMENTS

I was convicted 25 years ago. I did all that was asked of me & led an honest life going forward. Now my record is hindering me from being competitive in this tough job market. Soon I'll be living in my car with my dogs.REPORT COMMENTS

My full restitution, including court cost, was $40.28. I have been labeled and am being punished for the rest of my life for pocket change! I have paid my debt to society but continue to pay every day my mistake.REPORT COMMENTS
