Everyone deserves a second chance especially if they are remorseful! Not every inmate convicted of a crime really deserved to be convicted!

I have been a volunteer spiritual advisor at two state prisons for the past year. I have seen first hand some of the remarkable changes that some inmates in my group have made. Some after being model prisoners have been denied time and again the opportunity even to have visits by their own spouse. There is much partiality and prejudice shown by some of the CO"s. and the Administration. As a result the inmates incentive and hope are crushed. How does this rehabilitate a prisoner that has truly had a change of personality? Often we read of persons that have committed heinous crimes that are given light sentences. What about prisoners that have served 25yrs and are now, much different (better) people than they were when they committed the crime? Shouldn't LWOP be reconsidered seriously by a nonpartisan entity to give the changed man or woman a fair hearing?

If these people are continued to be put off indefinitely, they start to lose hope. Without any hope of coming home, what do they have to look forward to? If they are given a release date, it will help them hold on to that hope and give them an incentive to make the changes needed to come home and STAY home.
