Let our Doctors be doctors!!! We are being undertreated or our pain doctors are losing their controlled substance license. I was told that Alabama government (corrupt as ever) wants all pain management clinics closed and then they plan to go after the patients which by the way we are Patients not addicts!!! -

I so agree. What we have been doing to the idea that if you take medication for pain then you are a second class citizen, trying to get your Dr. to hook you up with dope. What is going on is outrageously wrong. I want the DEA out of my medical history and life. They have no education in the medical feild and the politans are just playing head games. I do believe that. Of course the DEA wants to keep controling substances. They would all be out of a job. Think if the miney this Country coukd save. There is a huge crisis going on in our Country. We have soldiers coming home from war, baby boomers are getting older and we are not buying the DEA ripoff scam. Decriminalization is where we should be headed with majauna. Instead they are moving slowly. Trying to make criminals out of little old ladies and sick people. I have been soo tired of the political correctness, instead of scientific facts being heard. Not to mention, it's a violation, of our civil liberties, to pick and choose, which drug or medicine, we should take. I have taken certain medicine all my life for Bronchitis and all if the sudden, in the DEA decides, it's a narcotics and needs to be classified. My cough does not know that, it can't be heloed with anything ither than, the same cough syrup, that has been prescribed, all my life. I have chronic pain, as well. I vote the DEA take a permanent vacation far away, from my medical records.REPORT COMMENTS

I lived a great life until one day I "froze" my toes once again outside on a chilly morning. In the end this caused me to lose feeling in my toes preventing me from performing my job as a school bus driver because I was no longer able to feel the pedals along with having excruciating pain in my toes due to the Neuropathy. It was determined that the Small Fiber Nerves that sense feeling in general in my toes were dead. The irony is that even though those nerves are dead the PAIN that comes from them is 24/7. My Neurologist referred me to a Certified Nerve Pain Specialist who tried several ways of treating the pain with no success. Her final thoughts were to use Low Dose Methadone for the 24/7 Pain and Hydrocodone for the Breakthrough Pain. So far so good as long as the medication is in Low dosages. But it has become disturbing that there are those in the "Real World" who want to lump everyone into one basket when it comes to determine how 24/7 Chronic Intractable Pain is treated without remembering that many who are "Abusing" these medications needed help before they even began using the same Opiate Pain Medications? WHY would someone such as myself who is trying to live as normal a life as I had once been living before my Neuropathy want to abuse my opiate pain medications so I can only sit around and drool all day? Then you insult us further by starting programs to give Heroin Street Addicts CLEAN NEEDLES so that they can CONTINUE their addictions instead of HELP TO END their addictions but TAKE AWAY OUR PAIN MEDS SO THAT WE ARE IN IMMORAL PAIN because YOU think OUR MEDS CAUSED these Heroin Addicts to become Heroin Addicts??? Before you take away my 24/7 Chronic Intractable Opiate Pain Meds, WHY don't you determine just WHY the Heroin Addicts became addicts first and it IS NOT because they simply started taking PAIN PILLS! Addictions start for UNDERLYING PROBLEMS, the "pills" are just as "excuse" to "SOLVE" the problems and then when they aren't strong enough AND NEVER WILL BE, THAT is when the JUMP to Heroin begins!!! But since I don't have any letters after my name I will be determined to not be fit enough to proclaim what I just wrote become I am just a DUMB Opiate Pain Pill Taking Addict!!! Thank you!REPORT COMMENTS

I have severe Idiopathic Small Fiber Neuropathy, Autonomic Neuropathy and CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demeyelinating Polyneuropathy). Since January I've been receiving weekly IVig treatments (with weeks off here and there while my Neuro fights with my insurance to cover the cost). I also take Wellbutrin, Toprol ER, Florinef, Klonopin and Baclofen. From March - Sept. of 2015 I tried every antidepressant and anticonvulsant (not to mention creams and patches) to treat my unrelenting neuropathic pain. None of them helped in anyway (though the Neurontin and the Lyrica put 40lbs on me and the discontinuation syndrome was awful and lasted months). I cannot walk or stand for more than a minute because doing so causes an extreme ache all over and inside my feet (they feel as if they've been beaten with baseball bats). I cannot use my hands for anything because of the same reaction. I can no longer do everyday activities like cook, clean, laundry, food shopping, drying my hair, taking a walk, sewing, etc. On top of the debilitating and disabling pain that has killed my quality of life, every single day I have random pain that moves around my body. Sometimes the joints in my fingers and toes feel like they're burning and being electrocuted at the same time. Sometimes it's a shooting pain from the back of my knee down to my foot, or from my elbow to my hand, or from the back of my ear up my head. Sometimes it's a pinch-like feeling in my jaw, wrists, knees, ankles, hands, fingers, toes, feet. Sometimes it feels like my skin is being stretched. I never know what kind of random pain I'll face on a daily basis but I do know that if I try and be 'normal' (like trying to cook dinner for my husband and kids) I will suffer even more. NONE of my doctors are willing and/or able to prescribe me anything stronger than an antidepressant/anticonvulsant/muscle relaxant for my chronic pain even though it is a fact my conditions are known to cause debilitating and disabling pain and a poor quality of life (http://tinyurl.com/jgcjvd5, http://tinyurl.com/jzw65jq). So here I am 50 and bedridden, my life is essentially over. I have a question for whoever it is that made it impossible for me to get adequate pain relief, how do you sleep at night? Pain-free I am sure.REPORT COMMENTS

I have Systemic Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Degenerative Disc Disease LumbroSacro and both knees have zero cartilage. I am in pain 24/7 and the doctor just wants me off ALL pain medication. The statics show that 50% of chronic pain suffers commit suicide. I have NEVER ever taken more than prescribed I keep a notebook of the times/dates and my pain level when taking these medications. I cannot live without some relief. This is a bad situation I am concerned not just for me but for everyone. The DEA are not doctors and I am ashamed that I am "labeled" as a drug seeker or drug addict I AM NOT!!! I am severely depressed (ask my therapist) at 53 almost 54 in on week I use a cane and walker I cannot get out of bed most days. I have no support and if you saw my apt you would be so appalled at the way I live existing on peanut butter and jelly because I do not have enough energy to cook or clean I do not have the standard of care or living I need I do not want to go into a nursing home at my age. PLEASE I beg of you to help this cause. I believe God would not want me to kill myself and I will not however I think sometimes about it to end my suffering. I pray that this will somehow help. I want this suffering to stop now. I need the medication and without it I am not going to see my grandchildren. I have no quality of life. We treat our pets better than people. Just because of the celebrities abuse of medications and drinking partying and dying does not mean that the honest people should suffer. Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS

Please stop this unnecessary, cruelty, persecution and harassment of people living with chronic pain. I have degenerative back disease that causes constant nerve pain. It stopped me being able to enjoy life. I became a shut in. Before the rescheduling of hydrocodone my family doctor (who has treated three generations of my family and has been my doctor for more than 10 years) wrote me a prescription for hydrocodone. It wasn't a cure, I still had pain, but I could leave my house, I could walk. I could garden on good days. Everything changed after the rescheduling of hydrocodone. My family doctor who has known me and my family forever and knows that I am not a drug abuser was no longer writing prescriptions for hydrocodone. I was referred to a pain management doctor who treated me like a criminal from the moment I walked in the door. I was required to take a drug test at my own expense before he would even see me. That test was highly intrusive and included testing for, heroin, marijuana, barbiturates, cocaine and several other drugs I had never even heard of. It was degrading and let me know that I was already a suspected "drug seeker" before I had even seen the doctor. I also wondered who was collecting that data, since I have had to sign the damn privacy act form every single time I go to any doctor. I wondered what happened to people who came up positive for illegal substances. ( I knew that I would not) but I still wondered. Were those people denied medical care? Did the doctor refuse to treat them? I found it to be an extremely disturbing new invasion of privacy especially since the government intends to try to take over our health care. Will people who come up positive for illegal drugs be denied health care? I have not been treated humanely since the new scheduling. I have been treated like a criminal. My pain medication has been decreased with no valid reason. I have to ration my pain medicine now. Which means I have to ration my life. When I asked the doctor to increase my medication after he decreased it for no reason, he lectured me and told me that if I took more that I would become an addict. When I tried to reason with him he became angry with me. He berated me loud enough so that everyone in the waiting room heard him and the staff did too. I left his office in tears and contemplated if it was even worth going on living. Why should I have to ration my pain relief. I take 4 pills a day of hydrocodone 5-325. I take two in the morning and two in the afternoon and then around 5:00 it wears off. So my life stops at 5:00. After 5:00 I can't play with my grandson, I can't lift him to give him a hug if he falls, I can't change his diaper, etc... After 5:00 my back doesn't move without causing severe pain. I have been lied too, I have been accused of being a drug addict at the same time I have been accused of being someone who doesn't take their medication, but sells it instead, When I asked for an explanation from the PA aREPORT COMMENTS

Patients with chronic pain don't choose to have pain or a chronic illness. We really don't want to take pain meds but it gives us a more comfortable life. I won't be able to enjoy the things I used to do because I'll be in too much pain without my pain meds. Chronic illness patient don't deserve to suffer. There has to be a better plan. Since when do we allow the druggies to dictate our life. The druggies will still find a way to get their drugs. I know a lot of chronically ill patients will not want to live anymore. Let's figure out a different plan before you have a bigger problem on your hands. I take my pain meds exactly the way I'm suppose to...most patients do. Please rethink your plan because it's torture for the patients. Let doctors be doctors and put the people in jail if they break the law.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a widowed Mom to the most amazing young man whom has been in pain as long as we can remember with a rare, horrifically painful disease. He was first diagnosed at the age of 11, always being wrongfully diagnosed with what it could be rather than its name. Idiopathic Chronic Pancreatitis with Pancreas Divisum which had been determined he was born with. . As a parent your heart breaks knowing your child is inthe most imaginable pain and you are helpless to help other than to tell him as a parent does "Its going to be alright, we will find an answer" , day after painful day, hour after painful hour, minute after painful minute, second after every second. But there is NO answer , no solution in how to help stop the pain. There is not enough pages to try and make you understand our journey, but on top of the pain and heartbreak that I feel as not only his caregiver, advocate ,I am foremost his MOM. Now on top of all he has been through at age 30, 14yrs post Total Pancreatectomy with Islet cell transfer ,he is being labeled a drug seeker because of not one doctor but many pain doctors whom 1 voluntarily gave up his license to practice recently. Brandan has always followed what he has been told to do, the multitude of many different medications he has to take daily because he no longer can digest food properly, non narcotic for nerve pain, anti anxiety medications, along with opiod pain medications, along with daily supplements. Recently it broke my heart again to hear after 14 years of being prescribed a particular pain medications over the years he told his doctors repeatedly they did not work he had a DNA test showing they do NOT. He is the only one that knows how much pain he has, ontop of having this horrific illness he developed severe osteoporosis, and severe scoliosis and diabetes which only presented after his surgery. Truly as a parent watching my son suffer as he does, every second of every day and be labeled a drug seeker, liar, degraded and shamed by many and ridiculed by others. I question the compassion and the inhumane way we , HE has been and are treated. What happened to " Do no harm", when all we , HE has endured. When did the War on Herion become the War on Opiods. The one and only proven medication shown to not illiminate his CHRONIC PAIN but rather to try and function daily due to his Conditions. He has missed out on so much during his life, because of his pain, Brandan is the most compassionate, loving, caring, sensitive, smart, intelligent young man, but people only see is his illness. As a parent yourself if this was your son or daughter could you even imagine our journey? I suppose you couldn't for at times its hard for us. I certainly hope and pray that ONEDAY this will be another daily battle we and the others suffering will not have to fight, along with the battles we are fighting everyday. We are #PatientsNotAddicts there certainly is a big difference.REPORT COMMENTS

President Obama, Senator Menendez, Senator Booker, The hell I have been in suffering from debilitating incurable conditions for years and doing everything I can to lessen the pain and have a QUALITY OF LIFE,, is not only exhausting physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. If you do not suffer from intractable pain, you will never understand the hardships a chronic intractable pain sufferer goes thru. People who you thought were your friends, wind up no longer calling or inviting you out to eat or to see a movie, they get fed up with hearing you are in to much pain to leave the house. Family members such as siblings who you think you can count on to not pass judgement on you because you require opiod medication to lessen the pain, believe more in the propaganda ******** and hysteria the government, CDC, FDA, DEA,AND PROP continue to feed the public, rather than believing in their own family member, and degrade you and call you horrible names such as a f***ing drug addict, and turn thier back on you. Where does that leave the chronic pain person!?! ALL ALONE!! It's a difficult enough challenge just trying to get thru the day, we are not proud that our lifesaving medication happens to be opiods, we do not enjoy taking these med and we sure as hell do not get any euphoria or "high" from these medications, we get much needed pain relief. Opiods have been around for thousands of years, and helping the chronically ill to have some semblance of a QUALITY OF LIFE. In steps the corrupt government and your sidekicks the DEA, CDC, FDA AND PROP, and in a matter of one dr visit your QUALITY OF LIFE is taken away,WHY!? WHY ARE YOU CONTINUING THIS WITCHHUNT, WHEN YOU ALL KNOW DAM WELL THERE IS NO OPIOD EPIDEMIC!?!? You have turned family against the person who is suffering, You have forced innocent law abiding chronically ill citizens to turn to the streets for relief or worse SUICIDE! How many drug addicts have you saved by targeting our doctors, our Vets, who by the way, fight for your freedoms, our senior citizens who are living with crippling pain, people of all walks of life who are diagnosed with debilitating incurable conditions that cause severe pain!? The DEA has absolutely NO RIGHT to come between a patients care and the doctors who treat us, they have no medical degree, they have never once examined a patient, they sure as hell have no right to invade our privacy either, remember the HIPPA laws!? How about the ADA laws!? Everyday many more lives are lost to suicide from legitimate pain pts who were NEGLECTED, ABUSED, MISTREATED, DEGRADED AND DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, WHO HAVE HAD THIER LIFESAVING PAIN MEDICINE EITHER LOWERED TO INEFFECTIVE DOSES OR ABRUPLTY STOPPED AND THE PATIENT DISCHARGED THRU NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. Do any of you know what it's like to feel hopeless and abandoned, not only by the medical community but by our very own families!? TRUMP is right: We are truly a country of very hardworking people led by very stupid people (DEA). They go into pain clinics & dr.offices with those black bulletproof vests and guns, but won't stop the drugs at Mexican & Canadian borders. Too scared? Yes. Like so many with chronic pain due to multiple diagnoses stemming from Levaquin poisoning to several pelvic pain disorders as well as neuropathy from high corticosteroid treatments, my quality of life has diminished from wrongful and SUDDEN termination of opioid treatment. The medication gave me the ability to be independent as a home business owner, care for my children, provide a beautiful home life for my family. Now? My husband takes care of ME in our in-law's home. My life is totally dependant upon his help, including painful trips to use the bathroom because I can not walk from severe joint/nerve/arthritic pain throughout my body. I went through unnecessary withdrawals when my opioid meds were abruptly stopped and have been through hell trying to find a pain management doctor to take me. I used to do very well when the opiods cut my pain to a 4-5, but now it is at an 8-9 and I can't cope. Why are people like me made to suffer this torture when help is available? What law have I broken, that I shoild be inhumaneky punished?REPORT COMMENTS
