I have been in constant pain since 2002 because of a fall off of scaffolding at work. At first i was denied workers comp for almost a year, which in turn caused permanent nerve damage at the L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels due to nerves being impinged by herniated discs. I have endured a failed surgery, had a spinal cord stimulator implanted to no avail. I did these things in my wish return to work. I worked every day of my life until I got hurt. I was able to return for a while, but the stimulator stopped helping pain levels even with opioid prescription drugs. Now I am at a point where the doctors want do another surgery on my lower back, and then on my neck. If I didn't have the pain meds I am taking now, of should say was since my doctor told me he was being forced by the government to cut my meds back. This month when I go back to the i was told to expect even more cuts since I am still above the limits. I am already suffering a lot more because of being cut back last month. Now I am afraid of what's going to happen to me with the next round of cuts. Guess I'll be back in a wheelchair, or in bed all day and not being able to function as a human being. Let me also point out that i am a model patient. I take my meds as prescribed, I drink alcohol at all, and I don't use illicit drugs. Now I won't be able to help take care of my bedridden wife because I can't take care of myself. So I may now be forced to have my son's mother taken out of the house and put in a nursing home. Why? All because a bunch of politicians think that every one on these meds are criminal addicts. They also think Obamacare should not have to pay for these meds either. So I guess I'll have to use my entire disability payment to pay for just one script. Who gives them the right to destroy people's lives even more than they are now? This new law needs to be repeale immediately if not sooner. Then we need TERM LIMITS IN CONGRESS AND THE SENATE! And I hope one of these idiots who came up with this ridiculous law to become a victim of intense chronic pain, and told to take a couple of aspirins and go see a shrink because the pain is all in his/her head.

Dear Congressman / Congresslady, I am a 40 year old male, who has been a chronic pain patient since I was 20 years old. I have several issues causing my pain, however my primary issue is do to degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, and Spondylosis - both of which run the entire length of my spine. I also have several buldging, and herniated discs. It is thought these issues were partially caused by an automobile accident when I was 16 years old. I have been a model patient. I have been on the same doses of medication for well over 10 years. I am on the fentanyl patch, and 2 norco pills per day for breakthrough pain. I do not use any other substances than those prescribed by my physicians. I have been able to ink out a very decent living working as a Sr. Systems Engineer, and have owned and sold 2 successful businesses since 1994. The problem with my current condition is that it is very difficult for me to sit and work at a desk (even with pain management). Additionally, I do not sleep well because of constant pain when laying flat. Many nights I find myself in a recliner just to get a few good hours of sleep. Keep in mind this is with the assistance of Opoid therapy. I was told at the age of 20 years old, I should simply go on disability, as my condition would most definitely make me eligible. Here I am 20 years later, paying allot of money in taxes, and have been a very productive citizen. I was just informed by my PM Doctor that I would need to come off all of the medicines that have allowed me to live this normal, productive life, and fend for myself with Tylenol. To me this does not make sense. I have had to make monthly visits to the doctors, visits 2-3 days a week to Physiotherapy, given enough pee for drug tests to refill the Colorado river, and spent countless $$$.$$ out of my own pocket! I am also confused as to when Congress, or any other governing body of my beloved country became a specialist in pain management, and took a Hipocratic Oath? I believe government should not make decisions regarding ones healthcare, just as the government should not be making decisions about once religious belief! What's next? Is Congress going to rewrite the Bible, and Koran? Please take these thoughts deep in your heart. If you, or a family member is ever struck by chronic pain God Bless you, or them - as neither will have a way to control it (except a Tylenol). Final thought - I will be stepping off my pain medicines, I hope I can continue to function, however 20 years ago I could barely walk, and recent MRI shows more damage. I will continue to do my best to thrive, however, if I cannot, I will be happy to take all of the government freebies everyone else seems to enjoy.

I am completely disgusted about how our government is controlling doctors practices and pharmacys! My fiance is 62 and has RA and Ankylosing Spondylitis. He takes 2 norco a day and has for two years . He's never asked to increase the dose and the medicine allows him to continue to work. It was time for his monthly refill and his doctor is one of the few that is testing out a new electronic system. Jeff called the pharmacy on a Friday to pick up his prescription on Saturday and he was told they weren't in stock until Monday. This is a monthly occurrence and heaven forbid he's able to fill them a day early when they are in stock. The CVS down the street had them but now a new prescription from his doctor is required inorder to fill them at a different CVS. So now it's Saturday and the pharmacy called the doctors office but the doctor refused to write a new prescription and Jeff was told he had to wait until Monday! Somethings really wrong with this and the patients are the ones who are suffering! Why aren't the pharmacys allowed to have the stock they need to fill prescriptions? The street crimes which increase daily tells me the drugs are still available on the street and the new regulations are doing nothing but increasing crime and making hard working people suffer . I understand the need to have strict prescription guidelines but this is out of control and we need to figure out a happy median.

11 years ago, at 29 yrs old, I was diagnosed with grade 1 spondylolisthesis, DDD, bilateral stenosis at cauda equina, herniated L5-S1 disc with tare, and mild scoleosis with evidence of a childhood fractures in my L5 and S1. Needless to say i was in severe pain, at the time, in which doctors AZ wanted kept me comfortable. I never once took more of my pain meds then directed in fact my tolerance is so low even if I needed to take the perscribed 2 pill as needed I'd vomit inside of 30 mins. I worked, I lived, and I exercised. Fast forward to the last 5 years. I'm now 40 and the state of KS had so graciously refused any your of pain management even though I've humored through their hoops. This includes 14 epidural injections which are still not regulated or recommended by the FDA, 3 rounds of physical therapy, anti depressants (because the pain is in my head due to depression). I have 5 years with of MRIs and recently, a CT post discography. I'll tell you what it showed. It relays that I now have moderate to severe narrowing at cauda equina, aoritic calcification behind L5, fully ruptured disc that is "completely gone", facet joint degeneration (right s1 totally deteriorated, l5 95% gone, L4 40% gone, L3 10% gone), RETROlistehsis grade 2 which is bone on meds with both L4 and S1, mild scoleosis with rotation, and now it's in my neck triggering migraines. I was told to attend a pain group and take Tylenol for pain control. Studies are showing that acetomenophin does not help in pain control or inflammation from arthritis of any type and ibuprofen causes liver, stomach, and kidney damage that can have a negative impact on the immune system. It also had been reiterated to the DEA by both addiction experts and mental health professionals that there is a cigar and defined line between physical and mental addiction. Would I physically become addicted? Yes. Would I become mental addicted, as using a narcotic to escape reality out of the inability to cope with life? Not likely. The fact is that I've been coping with life that's hard to deal with at times. At 40, I need help getting out of bed, sometimes dressing or bathing, I can't properly clean my home, I can't even walk me than a block without laying myself up in bed for three days due to not being able to move and the pain overriding any instinct to live. I am now legally disabled and basically taking up space until I die from natural causes 20 years or so from now. Let me pose this to those that are reading and are making my life a living hell right now. Say you have the flu, you know those intense body aches you feel? Amplify that by 7 and extend the duration to years instead of days. I never know when I'm sick because my back pain masks anything resembling flu or pneumonia symptoms. Now, since you have an idea of just how much I ache every day, 24/7 let's get to the bad days. Have you ever cut yourself shaving or burned your hand? Now imagine pouring lemon on the cut and place that pain from

What I have gone through in the past few years since December 2014, has been nothing short of a nightmare. Being passed from dr to dr even having one claim I had seen them. When I had never done so. The last straw was being " referred " to texas pain consultants, by an ortho dr from Methodist of sugar land. For starters I attempted to make an appt with this DR Chang 5 days later I was able to talk to his comrad receptionist dr Chang didn't accept self pay patients and although the ottos dr nurse gave me a paper telling me to go to this dr. There were no orders n maybe I could try talking to the ortho at Methodist of sugar land. This is extrely incredible : after that conversation I went to my mailbox that evening AND I HAD A BILL FROM THIS DR CHANG AT TEXAS PAIN CONSULTANTS STATEING I OWED THEM MONEY . That's right I received a dr bill from a dr I had not seen July 26,2016 or July 27,2016 .... My APPT WITH DR MARK MAFFETT WAS JULY 28, 2016 what an under handed group of liars that hide behind phone machines for they can't answer their phone. To you folks at Methodist of sugar land and dr Chang at texas pain consultants. You are now outed my quality of life is forever gone my back my knees busted and the suffering I've gone through from dr s I have seen before you two worthless sack of shit. Consider your self on warning as well. Mark my words since you can't to******but take my money or bill me for what I don't owe., even a penny for your thoughts is to pricey when you bunch of scammers ****ed with me. For any of you who suffer from constant pain and have been treated like a drug seeking addict that is dr shopping . Id like to hear from you : All it's gonna take is one good lawyer to teach all of you Drs n mismanaged no phone answering 320.00 in advance before being even seen by physicians ALL ITS GOING TO TAKE IS ONE GOOD LAWYER. And by the way Methodist of sugar land changing your records system to go paperless . Will not be an excuse for loss of and or making your word better than mine . Just rember these things All it will take is one good lawyer. As I come to a closing,,,no quality of life for me., No livelihood for you . Your not being threatened. Or bullied. You've been put on notice . I have expressed my opinions and told the truth about my experiences. Your inability to do your job and be accountable, through freedom of speech I have now politely allerted others to your inability to be accountable capable of doing the right thing.

I've lived with chronic pain for over 33 yes due to being born with 4&5 of my vertbre in my neck being fused together. Then. Have dengentrive disk disease and bulging disk. I've been told surgery won't help me. Can't take injections due to diabetics and my Dr won't write anything but will give you a morphine opiod shot I can't take these.. Its so sad to live daily in pain and yet if you chose suicide you burn but if you suffer its still a sin cause your Dr refused to help. They can help these at pain management who sell theirs but won't help someone in actual pain. Its this type of folks that are killing us who do duffer from pain I just want it to end reckon smoking pot I'd better than hurting and I don't smoke but rather start than hurt!!!!!!!!

Migraines for 30 yrs. 15 yrs ago my " trigger" was identified as muscular/ brought on by " over-head traction unit" wrongly administered . Years of OTC meds/ prescription drugs/ alternative bodywork.. nothing made a difference. They ran my life..2-3 times amonth I would spend 2-3 days on the floor wrapped in ice/ not sleeping/ not eating/ barely able to speak / unable to be bright room and then it was suggested I try a muscle relaxer/pain med. Tylenol#3. I finally had a life back, they haven't gone away..but I am able to manage them quicker, the severity and the frequency has diminished. Recently I have had a great deal of dental work...which has always resulted in a migraine. Within the last 2 years i have found dentists who are reluctant to prescribe anything but a small prescription, or none at all. Dental pain AND a Migraine is the closest things to Hell I can imagine...and it has resulted in a great fear of going to the dentist..which has resulted in my having yet another 2 teeth extracted last week!! This is madness, torture., inhuman...and as a retired Social Worker I can tell you there are thousands of people suffering so much more than I .These people truly have no lives without pain management, and as the " boomers" grow older..there will be more suicides due to the inability to withstand pain. This is NOT about addiction, this is about sustaining a liveable life. The Heroin coming over our borders is the problem, and the lack of proper Mental Health Facilities to treat addiction and it's causes...is where we should be turning....not turning on the ill and elderly. These new " rules" must be reformed. Thank-you

I am a intractable pain patient who meds namely oxycodone is being cut back to the point where I'll no longer be able to normally function. I function rather normally with pain but severely reduced by the medication. Now their cutting it back to the point that I am no longer going to be able to function and will be bed bound or in a wheelchair. This must stop and must stop now. The Phycians oath is first " do no harm" well this is indeed doing harm. This law needs to be overturned or repealed as there are people who depend on these meds to have a relatively normal life and without will be significantly negatively effected. Who do we need to address our concerns to??

All of a sudden my dr of 4 years with zero hiccups labeled me a SEVERE OPIATE ABUSER...to covet his*****at kaiser San Marcos. You want to get serious about suicides vs overdoses...i NEVER EVER have abused anything period. Dont drink, smoke nothing. He has disrupted my life so badly i honestly have thought about suicide vs the alternative of trying to live with major neuropathy, Fibromialgia, failed lamenectomy, severe scar tissue and depression to top it off. Congress as well as Dr's will be standing BLOOD COVERED with suicides.

i have had a neck injury since 1994. I broke my leg in 2002. I was paralyzed for 10 months in 2010. And my right leg was amputated in 2011. Since that time I have been to one pain management physician. I have improved my standard of living profoundly. If the CDC guidelines become law I predict an increase in suicides. Not me, I'm made of stronger stuff. However, I can certainly understand why some would opt for the ultimate end to pain.

Received my last pain med prescription from my Dr. Now I must go to a pain clinic. I've gone that route before as was treated like a drug addict. I will now be drug tested, put through more tests that I will have to pay for. I don't drink alcohol, use illegal drugs but now considered to be almost a criminal by my own government. As with many other issues, the actions of those who abuse and break the law are taken out on those who follow the law. I'm tired of fools in Washington DC running my and everyone else's life.

Walk a mile in the shoes of someone who cannot sleep through the night due to back pain, who can't do house work without back spasms, who has no joy when life is pain filled and being a wife and mother is almost unbearable. You should be ashamed of yourselves for punishing the very backbone of our country for the wrong decisions of the few.

It sucks 6 or 7 years ago my PCP sent me to a pain mgt. the doctor, because the pharmacies wouldn't fill my scripts unless I got them from a PM doctor. Well let me tell you I was on so many pills I couldn't see straight, so with concern for my safety I went and asked my doctor to plz take back my pain mgt. care, after I told him what they put me on and how and how much I was prescribed to take he immediately agreed. I was so happy, he cut my doses in more then half slowly of course but WOW I got mk my life back, I could drive and my depression, suicidal thought getting a lot better, my family was very happy. To be continued hand is get really sore. Need to stop. Just 1 question when did the DEA go to medical degree? What gives the DEA the education it should have to dictate to our doctors what kind and how much we ws should be subscribed..what a joke this is...

I too am a responsible patient with no history of abusing my prescriptions. Today when I reminded the Dr. I needed refills (the reason for the visit) she said I made her feel like a drug dealer!! I am so offended!
