This is an outrage! As a sufferer from MS, RA, Fibromalgia, degenerative disc disease and now SHINGLES, I am in constant pain. I avoid pain medicines when I can, but there is not much else I can do because I already take NSAIDS!

Physicians are supposed to help their patients, not judge them. Don't be bullied by lawyers, the AMA or the government. Please have compassion and take your patients seriously. Too many are being left to simply suffer and die. What does this say about our culture?

I have chronic daily headache & intractable migraine. Fioricet is all that works. Hopefully I don't ever have to go stronger....but Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen are useless to me.

I't's about t ime that doctors get educated about chronic pain & how to treat it. As a chronic pain patient with rsd/crps & educator for rsd 25 yrs I personally have been exposed to a lot of them and living in MA there is no need for it.. Massachusetts is one of the leading states in the country on treating chronic pain. With over 5 hospitals involved.in Boston, But lets face it why doin't they treat us.correctly...,I feel it's because they are afraid of loosing their licence..One of the answers is PPL GETTING INVOLED WITH BILLS LIKE THIS,. There is a lot of work to be done yet,.to educating them. .Lets get Congress involed so we can get Quality Medical Treatment Tks to all who haved signed it.

The first 12+ I felt that's Doctor treat people with chronic pain and Autoimmune disease very unfairly, from the knowledge I gained for myself is because Doctors just have no glue and have a very lack of knowledge and that's why it seems they treat us all like this. I suffer under Autoimmune diseases for 18+ years. Autoimmune diseases are very tricky because symptoms change . You might can have the same conditions over 10 years and new ones added on your list but they do change and symptoms rotate.that is why Doctor misdiagnose so often. The best thing to do is to your own research and see which testing you need. Doctors just don't know that I do know thats everybody with pain and conditions has Mecury and has Heavy metal toxicity in their body. I also learned from my own that's testing is useless (Blood, Urine, Hair) for autoimmune diseases because once Mercury or Heavy Metal enters into your Bloodstream and it is settled in your tissue it's non diagnostic. You can do a chealing injection and other alternative testing but they can be very dangerous. That is why only a small number of Doctors can't figure it out (the good and special onces) . Alternative or Holistic doctors just reduce some of your symptoms and surden Herbs can be due to your condition very harmfull. The reason why I do not take any medication for its I researched many clinical studies and people with more autoimmune disases usally get over Time cancer because you can't feed chemicals to a Body which is already Toxis. I never met one person who takes a prescibtion drug and gotten any better just worse. I still have it in my body but highly suggest to do your own reseach online with the symptoms you have. Most Doctors do not know and don't make the right testing . I highly suggesst thats anyone who has issues takes this test When you got many teste done and the Doctors just cant find it please research these tests and see if your symptoms apply and tell your Doctor to get them done for you which are e Organic Acids Test (OAT) , IgG (immunoglobulin G) ,The IgG Food Allergy Test w/ Candida , Comprehensive Stool Analysis, C-Reactive Protein Metal Fecal Test and Vitamin D Test. All test are related with Autoimmune diseases and severe chronic conditions. I spend so much time to reseach everthing which test I had to get done for myself. My Doctor did some of them last week and once the results come back and do the rest of the testing. Be Persistent with your Doctor and anything what is valueable what you find out from your own research print this out and give that to your Doctor and put every conditons on a piece of paper and give that to your Doctor too. Once the Doctor figures out form the test result what's not right find a doctor who practice functional and intergrated medicine who can put you on the right treatment and treat you body as a whole to treat the rootcause of your problems. Good luck to all of you

I have chronic back pain. I have Ankylosing spondylitis that caused Thoratic compression and spinal stenosis in my lumbar spine. I just had my 2nd surgery in my thoratic. I have lived with horrible back pain for more than 10 years. I also have spinal cord damage. I would probably already have committed suicide if the baclofen my Pain doctor prescribes did not help with the electrical jolts and muscle spasms in my legs. I deserve not to suffer. Anyone that 'rules' on decisions relating to pain meds should only be people that have experienced the same pain as those of us that need the pain meds. If a member of the DEA experienced my daily pain they would be begging someone to help them with the pain.

For those of us who have debilitating diseases such as Arachinoiditis and Tarlov Cyst Diseas, to take away our medication is to add more pain to what we already go through! We have lost our Jobs, friends, spouses and independence because of these diseases. Those of you who take Walking, sitting, riding, bending or lifting for granted every day, causes us sever pain to do these simple acts. We suffer with every breath we take because of our disease. We can not go a day without our medication! So instead of taking our medication, try finding a way to fix us! Help us! Don't make us suffer more than what we already do.

I don't even HAVE chronic pain but I know people who do, who are wonderful, creative human beings. Reading these comments is not only heartbreaking but frightening. It speaks to the FEAR mentality that has been pervading society and creating cowards out of those who should be standing tall. So I had to sign.

So much to say...but not enough space or time to go there, cause in the end you know it doesn't matter what you say it is what they think/believe. I will say that I am a Chronic Pain Sufferer w/no rights...I have tried all the other methods of pain control the Doctors have literally made me try...it was either go there or live with no pain control...they would tell me if I tried this then they would give me my pain meds, if I didn't I was cut off from any pain medication only to end up worse off than I was before they started with their demanded part of pain control...The demanded part of pain control they gave me made my pain worse so in effect the pain medication that I was taking that was helping me somewhat is now not helping me at all. This is our bodies, when are we going to be able to chose the route of treatment we wish to take instead of invasive treatments that we don't wish to take chances on making us irreversibly worse. That is where I stand now due to Doctors forcing me to take treatments I know is going to hurt me rather than help me. It was either take the treatment or be cut off totally from all my pain medications. After all, these are our bodies and over the years you get to know your own body. I could say a lot more but I will end with this...No matter what a Doctor tries to to force you into and you know or have a feeling about that treatment do not go there, you may end up like me, with damage that can't be reversed or can not heal itself. And if you have been a housewife all or most of your life you can't get disability...your only other option is Medicaid and that is based on your spouses income and I don't know what the income brackets are but if something happened that an extra income was needed you are in trouble financially. Much Love to all the Chronic Pain Sufferers out there and thoughts and prayers for you all! Let stick together here...

There are many Doctors who label their patients unfairly, demean these patients and degrade them because they are victims of chronic life long pain. This is archaic medicine and does more harm than one can imagine. Physicans are afraid to treat patients who are victims of pain. The DEA targets them and instills fear in how they choose to treat their patients and what they prescribe. More and more, Doctors are refusing to treat their patients who have chronic pain. Patients are far too often considered "Malingering" or "Doctor Shopping". Doctors far too often refuse to even communicate with these sufferers and label them as a LTDU ( Long Term Drug User) This is unfair, harmful medicine, and and causes llife long damage, both physically and mentally. It has effects on family, friends, co-workers and often causes the sufferer to withdraw from society. Through no fault of the patient, they withdraw from daily activities with their spouses, family and friends. Much like the Abortion issue, you force these victims of pain into back door alleyways, store front pain clinics and worse. They receive no counseling on how to take their medication and often don't know what they are taking. Like in the past, by treating victims of pain this way, you force them into seeking help and relief outside of the Law. It is one issue to target illegal clinics but another issue entirely to target Physicians who should be allowed and should be treating their patients who have pain. Instead, Physicians are forced, out of fear of prescribing pain medication, to send their patients off to some "Unknown" pain clinic where they suffer yet more humiliating labels and discrimination. Pharmacists often feel the need to "interfere" and embarass the patient when they pick up their medications. They are treated like second or third class human beings. Why is it that Doctors are no longer treating the 'Whole Patient?" Not addressing the underlying causes of chronic pain? There are many instances when there is NO clear cause for pain but that is not to say it doesn't exist. Pain receptors malfunction. Injuries can cause pain years later. Elderly patients who suffer every remaining day of their lives are told by their Doctors' that "They are concerned about a possible addiction". What happened to the quality of their life? Their right to live their life to live without debilitating pain? Their only option may be to consider suicide? The damage caused is a horror. Elderly commit suicide rather than live with this pain. Physicians are taught (since the very beginning of medical school) that any patient requesting pain medication is to be Scrutinized" and to be "Wary" of them especially if they tell you they can't take anti-inflammatory drugs, that is a sure "SIGN" of addiction. I was told this by my own Doctor. "What to watch out for when a patient requests help with their pain." They actually have a class for new Doctors on how NOT to treat patients.
