I wonder if the DEA would scrutinize doctors for prescribing these same medications to members of Congress or the POTUS. I bet not. Such a treacherous state of affairs!

I've been a CP patient for over 14 years - the entirety of my daughter's life. Every day I thank God my physicians understand my pain and are willing to treat it so that I can function as a person and as a single mother to my daughter. I fear - literally fear - the day that changes. This war on chronic pain patients MUST STOP NOW. We have the RIGHT to have our pain managed so that we can LIVE and FUNCTION as members of society instead of the parasites so many of us are treated as right off the bat, with no justification.

I can't even find a Doctor that even treats RSD/CRPS, let alone willing to prescribe pain meds. I can't travel the 10 hours round trip to see a doctor. I've already had a doctor prosecuted by the DEA unfairly. I have NEVER misused my pain meds in the 11 years I've had RSD, I've ALWAYS been trueful with my doctors if I've not used as much of my pain meds that month and had some left over, or if I had to use more. Why should those of us who truly need pain meds to function daily, to take care of day to day things, to be able to be "normal" parents to our children, have to suffer because of the ignorance of idiots that abuse the pain meds??? It's not fair to us!!!!

I have watched my neighbor, a fellow veteran of the Vietnam era...last year they a new "Drug Nazi" at m VA and the first thing they did was take away his most effective meds, and then up the doses on the more dangerous stuff...I used to be able to go over a few times a week and help him do some stuff outside around his house...now he's stuck inside due to the debilitating pain and can't even use anything else or he loses everything...it's heart breaking to see this honorable man go through this...he served his country with honor and distinction...and they should be doing everything they can to help him. I deal with chronic pain from injuries I sustained in Iraq, but have chosen not to take meds that could interfere with my right to bear arms...

It puzzles me how my medicare insurance does not cover migraine medications. 6 pills over $100. But they do cover pain meds. This makes no sense to me.

I have known the embarrassment of going to have my prescriptions filled, only to be questioned like a criminal. I have Fibromyalgia, severe Osteoarthritis as well as an auto-immune disease. I have already had one hip replaced and waiting for 2 much needed surgeries. I can't have those surgeries because of no insurance (but that's another issue) I NEED pain medication just to function, not because I am addicted but because the pain is beyond comprehension if I don't have it! I am only 41 years old, not an elderly person by any means and am made to feel like I am a drug addict by my pharmacist and the general public. This needs to change so lives are not lost to suicide because the DEA decides to target ANYONE using pain meds and scares the medical community into not prescribing meds that are truly needed!
