I have Lupus with chronic severe RA PAIN. Doctors have prescribed me so many different kind of drugs that do not help and have so many different side effects that cause more problems for me. I am 51 with 3 kids and I can not be a normal functioning parent for them. My Doctor refuses to continue prescribing me my roxicodone any longer which helps me very much and does not have the acetaminophen that causes many problems that I don't need I was taking them as prescribed not abusing them. And just because several other people abused them or sold them I have to suffer the consequences and pain for the rest of my life. Its not fair why must I be punished because a few bad apples and the rest of the chronic pain patients have to suffer it's very hard to live like this not being able to function like everyone else. Suicide has crossed my mind several times this is so unfair.I cannot believe I live in the United States of America, I am ashamed of our government.Sep 23rd, 2014Someone from Mount Morris, MI signed.

Your actions are muddled by warped, misguided govermental rules to punish the already health compromised individuals! I'd fear to have your karma for your cruel deed!REPORT COMMENTS

I am a very intelligent and outgoing person who had a wonderful childhood and had so many dreams for the future... Then I developed a horrid disease (won't go into what for time sakes) in which multiple brain surgeries were preformed and one was botched which made things much worse and required many more surgeries and more metal in my head to fix. I have had to drop out of college, haven't been able to work a single day since I was 18 and have no social life at all anymore after being able to do little more than sit in my apartment in terrible pain. Thank God for animals, books and music. Throughout this whole time I have had to suffer much more pain than necessary (while worrying and panicking like crazy) due to the DEA's incursion into medicine and their idea that Doctors are drug dealers and pain patients are addicts. Everyday of my life I suffer horribly and with the direction things are going I may simply have to flee this country (if not flee this life) and look for a country that actually respects the civil and human rights of those with painful medical problems. God Bless all others with pain. We never asked nor wanted this, please don't treat us this way... God Bless all those with horrid intractable pain and disease.REPORT COMMENTS

In January 2014 I had to stop working as my pain level no longer allowed me to. I have a twisted scoliatic spine, 5 lumbar/thoracic disks, 2 large bone spurs, bilateral sciatica, spinal stenosis, Ankylosing Spondylitis etc., etc. Severe osteoporosis complicates it all. I kept working pt through an AARP program in nonprofit and government until a car crash in 12/13 finished a partial rotator cuff tear, making it a complete one, tearing another and further injuring my spine. That was about the time Florida entered into the DEA'S "watchdog" system, which had every legitimate physician, patient and pharmacy scared to death of going to jail for exceeding their allotted amount by even one pill. Until that time, I was able to work and to help and provide services to many in more pain than myself. Now because of the fear, rising costs and limited availability, I usually drive up to 250 miles to fill just one of my two prescriptions every month, am treated like a drug dealer (at 65 old with white hair and walking with cuff crutches). My Dr., bless him states that the USA is one of the rare 'Opioid Phobic nations' completely blinded by how many lives these medicines can prevent suffering and create a positive outlook for many individuals. Thank you for your time. As a post script I would like to add that what our government has done is dramatically increase the sales and use of street drugs, especially heroin, which has climbed 13% since 2012 in my area. It is cheap, readily available and dangerously potent.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been in a few car crashes... And due to that and also a work issue where I was hurt and got both knees screwed up... My knees back neck shoulders are pretty much hell to deal with. And I have been on pain meds for 14 years and due to that... I am treated like a criminal. I am told they will not treat me.. I have been told they would ween me off meds.. I have been told that I don't have pain that my issues are because of the meds I am on. Seeing as I was on no pain meds for the first car wreck and for almost 6 months I could not walk and gained 50+ pounds.. Yea sure.. I don't need pain meds.. HA!.. Then I found a great doctor. Helped me out.. But he retired and now I am SOL... I have been going around looking for a doctor or pain management doctor to help me. But each time they say the same thing.. I will only give you half of what you take now.. So now my dose is at a 1/4th or less of what my doctor had me on.. And now I can't even get around again.. I can walk but I don't do much of it.. Everything hurts.. I have 2 kid's who I can't even spend much time with.. So they will grow up with a dad who just sits there.. I give them my full attention and talk to them and play with them sitting down and do everything I can to show them I love them.. But they don't understand.. They know daddy is in pain all the time and always hurts.. But it's not fair to them... They said.. But you use to do stuff with us.. Why can't you do stuff anymore.. The doctor helped you and you could do stuff. I told them that he retired and he does not work as a doctor anymore.. Because he is old.. So daddy can't find a doctor that is willing to help. Even with proof of the car wrecks and everything.. I still am labeled a criminal... And I am made to suffer.. My only way out is to kill my self.. I have been thinking of it a lot.. Just the thought of not hurting anymore sounds so good to me.... So I have 2 choices... Live my life in a crazy house locked away because I don't want to suffer and they treat me in house... Or I live out here in pain suffer and be called a criminal.... And live a life full of wishing to die and just end it all... I don't want to die.. But it just seems that's the only way out today in this world.. No one cares.. No one will do anything. There are only 4 pain places in my area.. And I found out that once you go to a pain management doctor.. Normal doctor's will not even write you a script... Sucks.. So 1 of the places are not accepting new patients.. One wanted to take me off my meds and stick pins in my skin to heal me.. wtf??.... The other one I am seeing now is the one who cut me down to less then 1/4th of what I was taking to function. And the last place that isn't an hour drive away.. Seeing as I can't drive because of the little I do take... I have no way to get to anywhere else.. So the last place I made an appointment for tomorrow.. But I heard they do the same thing as the rest.. So I know I will just be seen as a criminal just like eveREPORT COMMENTS

OK a quick back story for me is as follows. At 11 years old i was given 4 hydrocodone 10/500 a day for a severe shoulder condition involving instability and multiple dislocations and separations a month. Flash forward to me turning 18, my primary doctor did a physical with urine testing and sure enough my liver sustained severe damage from all the acetaminophen. I was switched to roxicodone which is solely instant release oxycodone 5mg 4 a day. Within 4 months i was on 4 30mg tablets because of a back surgery i went through. My issue here is separation of powers, the federal government and state government. DEA will always be a federal agency so they invade the states in an effort to waste billions of dollars. There are plenty of drug seekers i have always been a huge advocate of databases along with regular urine toxicology tests and pill counts. With those rules you will be able to get your medication and doctors will be able to weed out the bad apples. Doctors are scared because they risk everything even writing a few control 2 drugs for pain management. The drug enforcement agency should be bringing down giant pill mills for example search Doctor Gosy buffalo NY, they just raided his office here in my hometown for what i believe to be a evidence gathering expedition to present to a grand jury so they can bring indictment's down on him. Good luck to those who need treatment.REPORT COMMENTS

I am in chronic pain every single day of my life. I'm only in my 30s, and facing a life like this is more than depressing. But at least I have pain medication that keeps me from being completely bedridden. If I did not have it, I would certainly be on suicide watch. I never asked for this pain, it's from an accident. I don't smoke or drink, and I'm not overweight, and even if I was a heavy smoker who drank and weighed 300 lbs, it would still be cruel NOT to treat my pain. I did everything "right" (so-called), everything parents raise their children to do. I was an honor student, got a good job in a high-demand field, etc., and now I'm being treated like a potential drug addict because of something that happened to me 2 years ago that was not my fault. Please know that people like me have an *excruciating* existence... literally. Intimidating doctors into not treating our pain is immoral. We need to be given the benefit of the doubt.
