I already posted a comment, but don't know where it went. I have 2 medical insurances and can't find a doctor to treat me because of what an ex doctor has put in my record. It's strange everyone on the planet knows what's in your medical record except you the patient. All I can say is KARMA. That is my only hope (which is fading fast) and defense at this time. Prayers to All who are in legitimate pain and follow the rules. And those who haven't and use to get your high shame on you, Karma's going to get you.REPORT COMMENTS

The prescribed medication is controlled and distributed by Pharmacies. I have been without medication for 6 months, and it's about to get seriously crazy and I will take all measures necessary. Wait maybe that is why there are so many deaths, because if we can't get from our Doctors, we can just call the Street Pharmacies insteadREPORT COMMENTS

I have been in pain management, with legitimate medical conditions, adherent to a pain contract with zero issues and have been told I can no longer have my life saving meds. I am now totally disabled and have requested disability. I have also gotten my affairs in order with a living will so that I will never be resuscitated for any reason as the pain is too great. I'm out of money waiting for disability and seriously, for the first time in my life, I am seriously considering, even planning suicide. I know it can be accomplished with OTC meds along with alcohol, all easy to get. So what has this all accomplished? I hope the lost lives of many pain patients weigh on those at the DEA, CDC, et. al. for this barbaric, inhumane treatment. This is medicine in America? Shame on all of you. The blood is running in the streets. Which one of our "public servants"'will be the hero and stop this attack of chronic pain patients? Someone must have some compassion? Or not?REPORT COMMENTS

The "War On Drugs" has been a HUGE FAILURE!!! There's countless people who are suffering greatly due to the immense pressure that the DEA is putting on physicians. It is extremely WRONG to pull chronic pain patients off of their pain medications, especially cold turkey. One would have to be completely heartless to do so. Insurance companies are now questioning the legitimacy of a patient's pain, and use of pain medication. If a physician determines that their patient's chronic pain treatment includes opiod pain medication then NO ONE, especially the patient's health insurance, DEA, etc should have any say whatsoever. Pain management and treatment needs to be left up to the physician!REPORT COMMENTS

My pain clinic just got closed by the DEA. I have been a patient since 1999. Without any warning it is just closed for good. The doctor was older and small town & may not have kept records within the never ending required changes. (At least that is what I am guessing) He was a good doctor who dedicated his entire life to helping others. He truly cared so much for all his patients. This is the thanks he received after such a commitment. It's shameful! Now I am being told that I was on too much medication and there is nothing anyone can do to help me. I have severe back and knee pain. Degenerative disc disease, bulging discs, arthritis, nerve damage, ect... That's just my back. With my doctors help I was able to keep working, take care of my family and home. I was a productive person and contributed back to this great country. I realize the medication I am on is strong narcotics but I didn't get on them overnight. The dose I am on is from several years of treatment. What happens to me now? How am I suppose to be able to function. The pain is already starting to get bad because I have been taking less meds to try and make them last as long as possible. I have called my insurance, pain clinics, doctor after doctor and nobody seems to really care. The one pain clinic I do have an appointment with and isn't even for any medicine. It takes weeks to get started in that direction. I wont be able to even barely move by then. Not to mention the severe withdrawals I'm sure to be in. Yes I said WITHDRAWALS!!! Of course my body has become addicted to the narcotics. I have been on them for over 10 years. That is just the fact and truth about treatment with narcotics. Which by the way my doctor educated me on that before I even started them. However, what is also factual is the relief from the every day pain that was truly disabling me .With out pain medication I will not be able to work. Then what? I am so scared and I just don't know what's going to happen to me and my family. If I am supposedly on too much pain meds than I should get help with that, right? I should be taken down safely by a doctor. It shouldn't be this dangerous. I am not a healthy person. I now have diabetes now too. I am scared! Scared for my health and scared for the quality of life I will have. I feel like I am being punished. But why? I just can't believe this is really happening. THIS IS WRONG, CAN'T ANYBODY SEE THAT?REPORT COMMENTS

I was declared disabled before I even went to him. What makes me outraged the most is that he didn't have the courage to talk to me, no, I get a certified letter. The way that pain patients are being bullied and treated like criminals is an absolute outrage. Why is this allowed to happen in a free country under Our Constitution? It is so unconstitutional. What they are doing includes the following. Bulling patients off of their medication, telling the patient that their pain no matter how bad, does not warrant treatment any longer. No other treatment has been helpful and the patient is just dropped. Called a liar told that they need to try all kinds of spiritual sometimes even seen against peoples religious beliefs, Required over strict unreasonable pain contracts, Required Urine Analysis for treatment, Discrimination against people who use Medical Marijuana, Dropping patients for what is perfectly normal behavior for a person tormented by pain. The list goes on and it is not right, in fact it need to be brought to Justice this direct attack against people who are clearly going through hell as it is. What an easy target someone who is suffering. Can we get someone to stand up and call FOUL! Someone who is going to get something done about it, No Race Creed Color Sexuality Or Disability should be discriminated against. I have CRPS. It happened after my left foot was put in a cast that was too tight. could barely function. Pain meds did not stop the pain. I could not get out of bed, nothing could touch by swollen mottled foot - not even a sheet. I had to sleep with my foot in an upside foremen box so nothing touched it. was not living life, nearly existing. Then a doctor prescribed Suboxone. My life changed. I could function normally. After a year on Suboxone 8 mg, I was walking 3 1/2 miles 3 times a week. I began practicing yoga and became a certified yoga teacher. I take Suboxone daily but just a tiny bit of one tablet is all I need. But now my doctor is scared to prescribe it. I have to go to a pain management doctor - wait for over 3 hours in a room filled with addicts - -and amyreated like a drug addict. I have never abused drugs in my life. I don't get that feeling of euphoria others seem to. I'd love to feel euphoric one or twice in my life - I just don't have those receptors. Anyway, I hate this. I hate being treated like I'm less than a person because - through no fault of my own, I have CRPS. My doctor hates being afraid to prescribe it for me - he is partners with several other docs and their policy changed to where all chronic pain patients must see a pain doc. Pain docs treat addicts because that's where they go to get their meds.it is absurd that my doctor - who has been my physician for years is afraid to write my prescription off-label for pain. The government has gone too far. I actually saw a pain doc who told me he could not write it for CRPS because he has had to have an extant showing the injury to prescribe it for pain - but if I was. Drug addict, he'd be happy to write it for me. Is that ludicrous or what? I've thought about just not taking meds anymore, but the thought of returning to life the way it was - I'd rather be dead. So if I'm a drug abuser, I can get the meds I need. I can be treated like an addict and get the meds I need. But I can't just be a person with chronic pain who functions beautifully and get the meds I need from my own doctor. The government has gone too far!REPORT COMMENTS

She has has several knee surgeries and replacements over the last 15 years, all because the first one got infected at the hospital where she had it done, and the doctor left it in too long. As I said, my mom cannot WALK without her pain medicine. Her dosage also has been drastically cut, and now she is being told that the pills she does take may not even be given to her by the pharmacy because the government is ordering a drastic decrease in production, and it's up to the pharmacy who will get their supply: my mom who would take it all or multiple people who take lesser amounts. It's not fair. The doctors put her on this medicine and now that everyone is dependent on it to thrive, they take it away.REPORT COMMENTS

It's my personal opinion that the DEA has found another target for their failed war on drugs. Unfortunately, because of a few unscrupulous individuals, a large segment of people who suffer with moderate to severe chronic pain who have tried many other treatments, but found that opiates extremely increased their quality of life without abusing their medications have been lumped in the same class as addicts. I have been suffering with chronic pain for many years. My doctor would see me on a regular basis and prescribe my painkillers. Never once did I ask him for more before my prescription was due. My quality of life improved and I was able to perform my ADL's. Then one day he pulled the rug out from under me. No more prescriptions for narcotics. I suffered from some withdrawals along with the never ending physical pain. Now, I have to sign a contract, pass a **** test, and have a pill count done. Thanks but no thanks. Pain Management doctors are scared to go above the "recommended" highest dose even when they know it's what the patient needs. There is a difference in tolorance and abuse. My husband is dying of HRS Syndrome (kidney and liver failure), has a blood clot in his wrist, infection in his legs, 4 bulging disks in his back, is on dialysis. He was in the hospital for 2 months. They prescribed him some pain meds upon discharge from the hospital and told him to follow up with his primary physician for pain meds. We went to his primary physician last night - she refused to give him pain meds. The hospital put him on 2mg of hydromorphone every 3 hours (basically round the clock); he was discharged with a prescription of 60 pills 25 days ago; the bottle said 1 every 3 hours; but he only took 3 a day (which would be 1 every 8 hours). When trying to get a refill they said he shouldnt have used them and suggested a pain clinic. I told the doctor that they gave him the pain meds so that he could walk around with a walker and go to the bathroom. As his pain increases, he soon cannot walk, cannot get himself meals and cannot go to the bathroom (requiring a bedpan). With the meds he can perform these functions. I told the doctor I cannot afford a nursing home for him (he is 59) at $6,000 a month because they won't give him $25 worth of pills. My husband's diagnosis is bleak, although he desires to keep using dialysis and not simply go to hospice. Prognosis? Maybe 3 months before dying. And they treated us both like we were drug addicts looking to score a high. I couldn't believe it. It was embarrassing, humiliating, angering and ridiculous. The doctor finally consented to give him 10 pills (to get him to his new internal medicine doctor appointment, and i assume more begging). The man is dying! Give him his pills! I'm sure the doctor will have no problem accepting her $300 payment for the office visit with the side benefit of humiliating us. Patients in honest pain deserve treatment. What good is having medical options available if you can't use them? If some ppl used a prosthetic leg to bash someone over the head and kill them, would we then tell all new patients who were missing legs that well, they've been used as weapons before, so you can't have legs, you can crawl?REPORT COMMENTS
