I suffer from Chronic disease. In Florida being disabled, still can't get treated without being labeled a junkie or told to take Tylenol or Motrin for level 6-10 chronic pain with regular dislocating joints unable to walk. I have hereditary chronic pancreatitis. All you have done is make my life more miserable. There is no cure for me. I could have my pancreas taken out except for the fact that medicare won't pay for the islet cell transplant which would cost me $80,000 that I don't have and also it is such a major surgery I probably wouldn't make it thru it. I didn't do anything that caused this disease. I need adequate pain control to have some quality of life. Since the new laws, that isn't happening now. This is unfair and inhumane.REPORT COMMENTS

Recently was in ER for acute shoulder pain . After going through "triage" intake. When a Dr. came in I was then subjected to a "field sobriety test" questioned on my use of illicit drugs , how many times I 've been to the ER, and told I was not going to be subscribed opiates!!! All before I was even asked about my condition. I was confused and humiliated. However,I followed up with formal complaint to their patient relations . This is new to me I will now follow up with letter to my congressman,Senator etc..REPORT COMMENTS

I have lived with chronic arthritis pain, epileptic nervous e pain, I have had open heart surgery, and post traumatic stress disorder. I have been seeing Dr Stephen Rodriguez, on Lake Sierra, Dallas, TX for about 8 years now and I was close to suicide because I couldn't get the help I needed to get rid of the pain. The government needs to allow these doctors that have the means and knowledge to take the pain away from patients like me to do thier job and stay out of the way. After all they do have a license to administer what they think is correct. Let them do their jobs.REPORT COMMENTS

They are doing more harm than saving people's lives that are in so much pain they have no life. I will call my Governor, Senators, and Congressional Representatives and give them an earful. I have a herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, and arthritis in my back. I am suffering through inability to sleep, work full-time, and a mom to 2 beautiful little boys. I have already had one microdiscectomy and will most likely have a 2nd. My doctor is refusing to treat me saying he is more concerned about his license. That seems really odd to me. He said he isn't too concerned about my being able to take care of what I need to. This is from my own primary care doctor at the VA. I am seen at the pain clinic and said it is up to my primary care doctor and that they 100% understand and that my MRI supports my symptom of severe pain.REPORT COMMENTS

The DEA has no place in the medical community, and needs to redirect it's efforts back to illegal drugs. Until an alternate, effective treatment can be found doctors need to be allowed to prescribe narcotics to patients in chronic pain - patients who are in pain every single day for the rest of their lives with no cure. The DEA is violating the basic human rights of patients in pain with their overly strict laws and scare tactics towards doctors and pharmacists.
