My doctor is so against treating my documented pain disorder that even when I was discharged from the hospital he REFUSED to follow my discharge instructions. I now have a bleeding stomach ulcer from trying to treat my pain with OTC nasids.Aug 13th, 2015Someone from Cleveland, OH writes:
Im a victim of this madness! I seen my patient medical history chart and I have notes from one of my physicians saying tons of lies and I have physical proof and proof from someone that was with me. This is so embarrassing .I just went to the dr because of a knee dislocation and he treated me so terrible. And I didn't even ask nor did I want any pain medication. This needs to stop. We patients have rights.REPORT COMMENTS

It is getting rediculous when my wife who just had a total knee replacement and also has scoliosis on top of that needs paid medicine and is prescribed the medicine by her Dr. But the pharmacist tells us that he just didn't think that she should be taking this medicine because it is a high dose pain medicine even though he knows nothing about her or why she needs it when did it become the pharmacist job to refuse to fill someone's medicine that the Dr. Says you need. I think they are far overstepping their bounds when they are not Dr's nor do they know your medical situation.REPORT COMMENTS

Ohio' Proposed New Rule 4731-11-11 ASSUMES the worst of patients who are guilty of having a Rare Disease and Intractable Pain! It WILL result in more deaths of people ending their suffering due to ZERO "Common Sense" about uncommon diseases! Sometimes we MUST travel out of state or extended distances! SOME diseases make our behavior "APPEAR aberrant"! Sometimes we APPEAR impaired or sedated BECAUSE of our disease! Sometimes we MUST travel in a a group with other patients! Sometimes we DO need to make frequent visits to the emergency room! SOME disease have pain JUST as severe as cancer! SHAME ON YOU OHIO MEDICAL BOARD! MOST doctors will NOT write down our diagnosis so we are denied treatment and pain relief! Many have NO CLUE about our conditions! Inexcusably inhumane and unethical Ohio! Oregon, California, and Colorado have compassionate Intractable pain laws! Oregon has Death with Dignity laws for we Ohioans who have NO hope, NO cure. And ZERO common sense or compassion from the Ohio Medical Board, politicians, or doctors! Tarlov Cyst, Dural Ectasia, Multiple Sclerosis, Osteoarthritis of the spine, shoulders, feet, hips, knees, and herniated C5-6, T6-7, L2-3, L5-S1. Try having ALL of that in YOUR body and a stroke at age 37 and going into shock from anesthesia, having severe adverse reactions to steroid injections, and a lidoderm patch, and see if YOU aren't angry over having NO pain relief. Shame on you President Obama, Senator Sherrod Brown, Senator Rob Portman, Ohio Representative David Joyce. Shame on ALL of you for not caring! Shame on you for NOT having Compassionate Intractable Pain laws to HELP us! I've had doctors LAUGH at me and SCREAM at me! I am angry and outspoken so I am ONLY allowed Neurontin and Mobic and they do NOT touch the pain from all of these conditions! Doctors IGNORE the tests and do not write the diagnosis from the tests in my chart! Why? To DENY their existence and thus deny me medical care and pain relief! THIS is what Ohio and the United States has devolved into?! God Help Us!REPORT COMMENTS

I am also someone in çronic pain for six years I exploded 4 disc in my back no longer can work I have had surgery which lead to nerve damage I am 48 years old been seeing same doctor for 4 years after other doctors wouldn't see me anymore they sent me to this pain management dr. Because I refused any more surgery I have been drug tested every 2 months they are the only dr I go too I take my medications just as prescribed .today I got a bill for 475.00 my insurance paid 3000.00 plus my 50.00 copay for a urine test I my dr knows I'm not on any other medication but what she gives me. I hurt everyday I'm not hooked on the medications but it is the way to keep my pain down so I can function .but when I go to the Dr every month she wants more Mr I test every other month then has my med down to the day to refill an a letter posted in her office she will not see you if you don't have all her money up front. It is very hurtful to prove yourself over an over still to be treated like you are a criminal by trying to manage your pain in all the years I've been seeing this dr. She knows I'm not doing anything wrong but all she dose is come into the room what is your pain level an have I had new Mri. Or do I want a pain shot which makes me hurt worse with the nerve damage, an wright's the prescription , I feel like for almost 4000.00 I should be treated with respect . An how many test do you need to take before a dr can determine you ok she's not doing any thing wrong. I hope there is a layer somewhere who would take this one because our rights are being controlled an people that can prove they are in real pain should not have to keep putting up with there pain , but even worse when you jump threw all their hoops an it still isn't enough . They tell you there is nothing wrong with the medications but then you go to their office an they treat you like they are doing you a favor charging like they do . An holding your medication over you because you can afford everything they want, then they refuse your medication , don't these people no we are all getting older an people with çronic pain it gets worse,an they all will be where we are one day. It is scary hurtful an very demeaning ,An also is why people can't afford insurance . I can't believe the insurance company's don't ask about these charges on these uncalled for test.god bless us all in Jesus name I pray for all people who are going through this horrible experience .REPORT COMMENTS

Chronic pain issues must be addressed. Since the DEA's interference in Indiana, Suicide, Heroin use and Meth use are rising substantially. Heroin is cheaper and easier to get for pain relief, than a prescription from a doctor who knows your pain and condition, but his hands are tied By the DEA. Now your trying to close the very specialty you created in Pain Management. Get the DEA out of the Doctors offices and back on the streets. Out of the pharmacies and back to illegal drugs, where they should have stayed. All tey have succeeded in doing is creating "new" drug addicts from "chronic pain" patients and doubling the price of "prescription" drugs sold illegally on the street(which is why heroin is on a major upswing).REPORT COMMENTS

I've experienced chronic spinal pain caused by Spinal stenosis, degenerative spine disease, and other injuries to my spine. Also even with injuries to my femur, leg and having a seizure disorder that leaves my body hurting badly and my cranial plate as a doctor called it? hurting massively because after each seizure my body is in horrible pain on top of the existing ailments. Anyways, the newer DEA and FDA restrictions and cruelty has led to me having to have no life anymore, not able to function as i once was when i was able to have access to Opiate pain relief. My career has diminished, my mood, my sex life, my well, everything has been put down to a level of almost not wanting to live anymore because of the pain i go through each grueling day, but yet there always seems to be the patients that can get these meds that i cannot even though they have nothing wrong with them and i even know of many and they brag about it, and yet those of us with real ailments and low quality of life issues daily because of pain, and not because of addiction, we have to be treated like some type of second rate citizen. Look, i understand that many people have addiction issues, but there are the principles of life as well, you cannot treat everyone as a whole the same as the singular persons that are committing crimes. Just like you do not punish all of the US because people are murdering others, make sense yet? Yet it is legal to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, and other forms of legal drugs that kill more than all overdosed patients in all of history combined and in only one month! Really, come off of the bs! You are making peoples lives miserable, you do not care, yet we still have a problem, but the problem is not the prescription medicines. The problem is this, the doctors! Yes i said that. I will tell you why right now, firstly, when this whole 'drug war' started, well let's go back to when the Prescription drug craze started big time, in 1995 OxyContin was released. Then after only a few years the death tolls started to climb, and why? Not because of junkies, the Doctors created the junkies!! Yes i said that too, it's common sense. The doctors would prescribe to anyone and everyone for little tiny ailments that most of us in chronic pain situations would love to deal with. lol And then furthermore making the problem worse, because then once those doctors are busted from the DEA then and ONLY then did and do they try and clean themselves up and then in return treat those patients like dirt! It was not even 80% of those patients fault in the first place! Look at the real statistics sometime ok? Those people were normal average people, they got injured or such and their doctor, someone who they had grown to care about and trusted with their LIVES gave them a very powerful Opioid that was mostly intended for chronic pain that is requiring OxyContin, which is the same thing as your Percocet as well, same ingredients minus the formula and binder, it is OXYcodone,REPORT COMMENTS

First of all what does the GOV have to do with our pain issues? A doctor goes to medical school for 8 years or longer and is the one that has the right to diagnose and prescribe for pain as needed with each individual as they see fit PERIOD. Part of the drug problems are coming from the manufacturing companies who have decided to make their pain meds less effective. This is causing people with chronic pain to need sometimes double the medication than they normally would!!! So to help us so called crimnals and druggies maybe they need to start testing the drugs these rip off artists are producing! As long as they get their money it's all that matters! Very frustrated with how our health system is turning in this awesome country where we are suppose to have freedom of choice and speech!!! STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!! PS the real druggies will still get their drugs regardless.REPORT COMMENTS

My wife has bone to bone arthritis and needs knee surgery, until then, two orthopedic doctors and 3 family practice doctors all agree that she is on pain management until such surgery is performed. The situation has deteriorated where she now cries to leave the bed just to use the restroom. How is she supposed to get to the doctors office more often now just to get a new prescription? I don't like seeing my wife in pain and I know if half the people that decided this was the greater good would have found a better way to combat the illegal use. I would think this just fuels the illegal drug market. God forbid a patient that really needs the pain medication and seeks an illegal source of the pain medication due to doctors fears of writing prescriptions or the hardship in getting to a doctor. Chronic pain management should have an electronic record displaying the need in a nationally accessible database (like drivers licenses & federal income taxes). We are in an electronic world nowadays, get with the program or seek another 3rd world country for your next political adventure.REPORT COMMENTS

I don't want to be here when it arrives. You are hurting innocent people. It costs 2000 to get a shot. Much more with the nerve blocks that last 6 months. It cost less than 30 dollars for a pain reliever a month. Something wrong somewhere. Why would medicare spend that amount of money " even the discount they receive " . Our safety is of no concern when they put this antidepressant as an only option. And that might kill you by itself. We are not idiots. SincerelyREPORT COMMENTS

Today I was in the emergency room with SEVERE neck and head pain. I was told by a "pain management" doctor to go to the ER when in acute pain. Another told me I just needed to "socialize more". After a shot of toradol, the doctor said he was writing a prescription for flexeril and Ultram, "a very weak narcotic" but instead wrote ketorolac and flexeril. 5 minutes later I was discharged and told that I needed to leave! The Cleveland Clinic doctor yesterday said "No MS" yet my MRI report says MS. Another said he saw "no reason" for my pain, yet MRI and CT scans show Cervical Spondylosis, Herniated C5-6, T6-7, L2-3, L5-S1 and a 1.5 x 2 cm Tarlov Cyst at S2. And "minimal dural ectasia in the sacrum". A bone scan says Osteoarthritis of the spine, shoulders, feet, hips, and knees. Doctors now ignore tests, lie to patients, but insist on Epidural Steroid Injections! A woman with a Tarlov Cyst was never told about it in 2008 by CCF, endured numerous ESIs and now has 7 Tarlov Cysts! ESIs are contraindicated in TC patients! You are "flagged" like I obviously have been, if you mention, EVEN WHEN ASKED what you were on in the past! Doctors write that you asked or mentioned a "specific drug"! I am only allowed Neurontin and Mobic for pain SO severe I awake, gasp, and pass out. I collapse if I am standing or walking. IF you call your Representative or the DEA you are told to "find another doctor" then "flagged" for "doctor shopping"! The ER found the brain lesion and "possible cancer" via CT and MRI scans, but visits to the ER "flag" you as "drug seeking"! Read the Ohio Revised Code. You have NO recourse or Due Process and representatives at the federal and state levels DO NOT CARE about pain patients nor will they rein in the DEA! Pain patients must be a sadistic culling experiment, because severe and acute pain is TORTURE and results in serious physiological damage. Read "diagnosing Tarlov Cyst disease" on Rare Disease Report. There IS pain just as severe as cancer! Arachnoiditis and Tarlov Cyst patients have ended their lives to relieve their pain! Unethical doctors, uncaring politicians, harassment and intimidation by an egotistical, overzealous, over paid DEA has created immeasurable suffering! Way to go USA. How humane of you!REPORT COMMENTS

Like the rest of you I understand completely the pharmaceutical companies should have to pay for the emotional pain they have caused us by giving us a drug that although is effective it is highly addictive. It's ridiculous when you'e having a good day you still have to take it. Any of you that are taking opiates know exactly what I'm talking about. I regret not quitting it when I had the chance I now have an inoperable heart condition which prevents me from going through the withdrawals, although I am determined to wean myself off of the drug, and I'm finding I am having some success. I am fed up! I have been signing this petition for a year now. When the hell is something going to change! I can't take this pain anymore. I've had several back surgeries, have several herniated discs, fibromyalgia, nerve damage, my list is endless. I had a quality of life when I was taking oxycodone 30mg every four hours. That got lowered three years ago to every six hours along with the ER medication. Four months ago my pain dr tells me he can no longer write scripts for them because the DEA/government has new guidelines..Crock of bs..Now im at 20mg . I am in so much pain Ive begged God to take me. What gets me is how my dr flat out lied to me. I know some of his patients and their meds weren't stopped. So I guess a dr can pick and chose who gets relief and who can suffer. Every month he tells me that he wishes he can give me what I need to get relief. Instead,he gives me******I can't afford and do nothing for me. Ive been down this road years ago. Tried everything, physical therapy over a year, injections, everything. I finally get the meds that work and because of the DEA Im not allowed to have a quality of life?!?! I want to call my dr out and tell him he's a liar, after ive been with him for years,a man I grew to trust and I thought really cared thru his compassion. Yes, i could tell him and move onto a trust worthy dr who isnt afraid to treat a patient, but that's the problem..Before finding the dr. I'm with, I called all over NJ, every pain Dr. around. As soon as you say what meds you are on, you immediately are treated like a drug addict looking for pills. Then you are either hung up on, told they don't treat with opiods, told they aren't taking patients, and the best was being told to "get off pills and go to rehab" Who the hell is anyone to judge me.I dare those who think living in chronic pain is a joke to walk in my shoes for a day, when I can walk. It disgusts me how chronic pain patients are suffering when they don't have to. Many being forced to the streets to get relief, or even worse, killing themselves. And by the way, I never failed drug tests either. The DEA and government need to stay the hell out of my medical care. Doctors are afraid to treat their patients anymore. Karma will be knocking on the doors of each and every one of you responsible for making legit patients suffer and I hope the pain is so bad you will Beg God to take you. Only it won't be God..Doctors due more harm then good anymore, by NOT treating their patients. This is America?!?! What kind of country do we live in, forcing people who have conditions that cause them great pain to suffer?!?!?! I've lost all hope in thinking their are still good pain dr.s out there that understand what living in pain is like and are not afraid to stand up to the DEA, afterall, pain drs paid thousands upon thousands of dollars to go into medicine, to help those suffering in pain. Where are they !?!?! Where are the ones that don't judge a person/patient based on the medicREPORT COMMENTS

THIS IS NOTHING MORE THAN A SCAM BY PHARMACUTICAL COMPANIES WITH BRIBING POLITICIANS TO PUSH THE PATIENT INTO A PATENTED MORE EXPENSIVE DRUG ALONG WITH INCREASES INCREASING THE COST AND HASTLE TO DOCTORS AND PATIENTS. The Government has no right and no business in getting between the patient and doctor. This is just the beginning of the decline of the American Healthcare System and designed to financially break the patient. IT IS ALL ABOUT CONTROLLING THE PEOPLE, BECAUSE CONTROL THE HEALTHCARE THEN YOU CONTROL THE PERSON. IT IS TRUE THAT EVERY POLITICIAN IS A CROOK, THEIF, AND A LIAR. THEY HAVE LOST MY VOTE AND TRUST. Thanks for taking any chance of quality of life away...THIS IS AN ISSUE TO BE TAKEN TO THE SUPREME COURT.REPORT COMMENTS
