The DEA needs to figure out a different way to keep Idiot parents from allowing access to the med cabinets! As an X Deputy Sheriff I am appalled @ the way this country sends are youth into battle over the flow of oil & opium and lie calling it a war on terrorism! Makes you wanna vote for Jeb Bush HUH! The DEA has labs that make street Meth with chemical markers to bust dealers. Mmm fighting fire with gasoline... What a f___ing double standard that is... If people need to be on narcotics for a legitimate Injury leave us the Hell alone!!! Scrutinize obvious criminals & Bad Parents, not the honest working class.

Why are people that don't experience the pain making the rules for pain patients? Why are the very rare doctors that treat pain punished? Why are so many people being forced to live in extreme pain?

I too am a chronic pain sufferer I was even granted disability for my pain! After 20 years all of a sudden my doctors are turning on me and refusing to give me any of my medications I now have to drive to another state to pain management and I feel like a drug addict taking urine tests signing this and that that I won't sell my meds. These self righteous up above people should be made to have chronic pain where they can't move for a day and see if they still want to take away our quality of life!!

In 2002 I suffered severe injuries in a mugging. I have lived with severe pain ever since. We have had to move to another state due to Kansas being a state that does not allow narcotic pain medication to be given. If a doctor does give pain medication, the local DEA is allowed to raid their offices, take their license to practice away without ever proving that they did anything wrong. This is an outrageous law that goes against any federal laws and violates the doctor's right to treat their patients. The DEA is allowed to do this to doctors just on a whim. What happened to innocense before being proven guilty? This state law is a violation of both Doctors and their patients constitutional rights! But nothing is being done to help those who often cannot speak for themselves for they are too sick to do anything about it. Who can blame a doctor for not treating a sick patient who is suffering from severe pain. Cancer patients are allowed to die a slow agonizing death often brought on sooner by pain. It is no coincidence that this law came into being immediately after the state had a study conducted that proved that cancer patients lived much longer if they had adequate Palliative (pain management) care. There is a federal law that requires all doctors and hospitals to provide adequate palliative care for all their patients following a series of studies that proved that pain kills and kills faster than the disease or injuries that caused the pain in the first place. These studies proved that adequate pain management increases the quality of life, as well as, the length of a patients life. In fact, sometimes proper pain management actually saves life. In essence, adequate pain management, called Palliative Care, is a constitutional right of all persons and it is also the federal law! It is sad that we had to get a Federal Law passed to give sick and dying patients their Constitutional Rights to pursue happiness. No one is happy when suffering from severe pain. I know, I am one of those people and the road has been long and hard to receive just enough pain medication to make life barley livable. While living in Kansas, where still pain management is illegal, I filed several federal complaints citing several real casses to prove my point that Palliative Care was being wrongfully denied in the state of Kansas. One case, was of a neighbor whose father had end stage brain cancer. This poor man was only being given Hydrocodone 7.5 three times a day and he had lost his ability to swallow food so he was on a IV! So in other words, he was receiving no medication and this was while he was in the care of Hospice! This peeked the federal governments interests and an investigation was in progress when I moved. The interesting thing about this unlawful Kansas state law is that these Palliative Care studies that instilled the Federal Government to create the Palliative Care rights bill is the same studies that Kansas used to decide to crea

One way to cut medical expenses is to cut out required referrals to pain doctors. When I saw the lab fee charged for a urine test at the Pain Doctor's office---0ver $500 for one time. Why because they don't have the proper raised stool and urine receptacle for handicapped person. Have not asked my Primary Care Doctor for pain meds as I don't want to get him or myself in trouble. I explained why I was leaving the pain doctor when I went to get my "contract" back. We are not addicts. We do Not sell our pain meds. We only use to maintain a life without horrible pain.

I have been in chronic pain since a bad fall in 2011. OTC meds just dont help at all. I take Norco for pain relief, I take tramadol ER and baclofen for fibromyalgia. I can't take anything strong and dont want to but this is making it very hard on people that are really hurting.

What the laws that DEA and FDA become extremely harmful, the public must and I mean must get involved. We have politicians making laws that now are so stupid, I can't believe it. We Need To Boycott, so they hear us loud and clear. We will not stand for this kind of treatment, the laws must make sense and these don't. With over a million or more in chronic severe pain, we have to let our voices be heard. Enough suffering for what.

I really hate writing about myself. I rarely do and when I do it is for a reason. I have no other choice but to tell the story as it happened ? and unfortunately it happened to me, although you could say that I have set myself up for ?martyrdom? by being involved with Activism in any aspect which has to do with Cannabis. That is my sin ? I smoke Cannabis. I know that it helps my anxiety but I also knew that Cannabis alone most likely would not be able to handle my ?condition? and that it was ?illegal? to use. O.K., that much is fact. In 1979 I was diagnosed with Chronic Major Depression, Dysthymia, and Acute Anxiety. This is no secret as I have not tried to hide the fact that I suffer from this condition. Skip forward to 1990 when I finally was placed with a Psychiatrist that was very knowledgeable in his field and I took to him quickly. I was glad to have someone that knew more than I did prescribing my medication. I never hid the fact that I was an Activist from him. I never hid the fact that I used Cannabis from him. I left a pain clinic in 2003 where I tested positive for THC and the only medication they would prescribe at that point was Methadone which I had ironically enough just been able to detox myself from and was not taking anymore. Hence, my reason for leaving. My Psychiatrist, Dr. Theodore B. Feldman who works for U of L Psychiatric in Louisville Kentucky told me at that time that I did not have to worry about obtaining my medicine from him because he would never hold the THC against me. My main two medicines were Zoloft and Xanax. I had been tried on a multitude of drugs but this is what worked for me and I have been using the same medication since 1986. He even filled out a form to send back to the pain doctors saying there wasn?t a reason to withhold my pain medication because of THC. http://louisville.edu/medicine/departments/psychiatry/faculty/feldmann The first part of April this year I called in to get an appointment. I had missed two previous, because of weather, When I called in I was told that I was NO LONGER A PATIENT OF DR. FELDMAN THAT I HAD BEEN DISMISSED FOR MISSED APPOINTMENT, This is where I will go backwards a little bit. I had also been a patient of Dr. Chandra Reddy here in Cave City. He had been my primary doctor since I moved here in 2011. He had filled my medications as needed for the most part ? until I was caught by a drug test by him back in 2014. Now, I move forward to current time. The Physician I went to after Dr. Reddy was out of business was located in Glasgow. I was referred to him by T.J. Samson Hospital . I will not use his name because he is currently still my physician. He has done no wrong. He is just doing what he has to do to keep his license. When H.B. 1 was passed in KY in January of this year all the Physicians who were already on edge, increased their drug testing and removal of patients who smoked Cannabis,

Yep all this is true so why offer the drs 1 more thing to control cannabis should be free it is not a substance nor a drug or med just a simple herb from god yes it can help but first you have to be completely off thw opioids. 2nd thing to think about their really are no doctors i this country anymore anyone that has a DEA number is in fact a DEA agent so why would you go see a police officer for a medical condition? Weird but yes it is true. Better to seek help outside their realm than deal with their cruelty.

I have been suffering from a severe chronic condition that unfortunately includes severe chronic pain, as if the other numerous symptoms weren't enough. It began eight years ago while I was in the Navy from which I have since retired. In the midst of numerous ER visits and hospital admissions I was told by military and civilian doctors alike to get a pain management doctor. Once I accomplished that many of those same doctors were angry that I was in pain management. This is only one example of the idiocy I have to deal with. Sometimes I have flare ups that I cannot control at home so as per doctors orders I go to the ER. Immediately I am interrogated about my pain meds. My illness doesn't seem to be the concern even when my condition is so bad that it causes renal (kidney) failure. I am treated like a criminal even after being admitted for a 3 to 5 day stay. I have been on other meds such as topomax, ultram, depakote, Haldol and many others all of which make me very ill or don't work at all. Most of the doctors seem to be content with that, as long as it's not opiates. Even after they see my 8 year history and the success opiates have with my condition, many refuse to let me take them. I would say the success rate is about 90% with occasional break through flare ups. Much better than being in the hospital 3 to 5 days a week and not just for pain alone. I always have at least 2 to 5 other symptoms actively present but to them it makes no difference. My case is unique in that there is no damage to my insides that show why any of the symptoms especially the pain is present. Literature regarding my illness stated that this is to be expected. The very severe attacks I have do cause my wbc count to get as high as 47,000 and sometimes renal failure accompanies it. Some of the pharmacies/pharmacists are just as bad, CVS in particular. I keep odd hours and work at night, sleep during the day. CVS now has a rule that pain meds cannot be picked up at night even though they are 24 hours. I was told it was for their protection but they can't tell me what from. I didn't ask for this illness and I certainly didn't ask for the harrassment I get regarding medication. The one example that burns me up is when I'm at the ER and the doc asks me what medication I am usually given/works for me. My reply is met with hostility and one time a visit from the shrink. If I was a Senator or Congressman I bet there wouldn't be a problem. They're not even required to submit to drug testing because it violates their civil rights/privacy. Thats right, look it up. Who is sitting on all This medication? Why are we treated like criminals? Why won't the President do something about it? The war on drugs is a failed action and the legitimate folks are paying for it everyday. We suffer at the hands of idiot doctors while the real criminals walk free. Please help us Mr. President, we're sick and tired and after reading these letters many folks have had

Because of the "laws" my pain medications have been cut more than half. I know my body, and my doctor seems more concerned about his medical license than helping patients. Pharmacies downright lie and I have witnessed this. Pharmacists are trying to play God. The medical profession is ran by bureaucrats and I, for one, am SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED AND OF HAVING NO QUALITY OF LIFE. I'm not going into my medical history but it is significant. Last month, I was taken off Xanax cold turkey because it wasn't in my system the month before. I take it as needed so at the time of my urine screen, I felt decent which is rare. Then, boom, 3 deaths in my family in 3 weeks, I started taking it again but where my urine was sent off, I don't get this information until my next appointment so I was cut off on the spot. I have suffered nearly a month now and he doesn't care and basically told me so. How callous and cold is that. This medication works in conjunction with my pain meds plus helps my anxiety due to the pain. He is worried about having his license pulled; wait until he or someone in his family develops a medical or mental condition and they are treated like I have been. Sad....

It's getting close to presidential election time, this issue that's affecting all of us American chronic pain suffers and there must be millions of us, let's fight this on a political level. my rights are gone it's like living under a regime, because im taking opioid meds for my chronic pain. There will always be people dieing from drug over dose and now people dieing from like of help from the medical community because of the Government intruding in all aspects of our chronic pain treatment. we the people need to stand up together to fight this madness and the insurance company's are now telling us what to do, why do we have Dr's just go see the Government and let the insurance company tell us what meds to take. PLEASE someone in.congress help give us back our freedom. And educate or children in school's what drugs like Narcotics can do to somone that uses these types of drugs the wrong way.. Make it possible that any ligament chronic pain suffer can get the help they need. I could go on and on, but is anyone listing to us crying for help????
