The war against drugs is truly a war against those in chronic pain. Responsible management to allow us to fully live up to our potential is not too much to ask for. I hope that all chronic pain sufferers band together to do what it takes. This is a travesty. -

As a nurse I am seeing the harm first hand. I see these people in there homes unable to function, because of severe pain. The doctors are refusing to prescribe pain meds, in fear of retaliation. I became a nurse to help people, instead I am watching them want to die. I can't stand it. I understand some people abuse drugs, but to make millions suffer is inhumane. Will we outlaw vehicles because some people drive reckless? My mother was just discharged from hospital after a triple artery bypass, she has a 18 inch incsion, they had to pull out her intestines to get to arteries. They sent her home with zero pain meds, said they can't prescribe them. It's barbaric.REPORT COMMENTS

I have degenerative discs and had 2 lower back surgeries. So, when doctors prescribed meds for me, morphine and oxycodone, I could live life as normal as possible. Otherwise, with no meds I drag my left leg. So, for dea to get on doctors now and treat people in same situation as drug heads is disgusting. What they need so is look at each persons medical records and not clump everyone together. Now, since lowering, way too much our meds, patients like us who have been on these meds for years are having to go through horrible withdrawal symptoms. This is just plain cruel. Yes, I understand that the majority or so of patients don't and never needed these sort of meds. But this is the doctors doing. Feel bad, of course for people who have overdosed on these meds, but I am not in the same category. So, please find another way to handle this than to make us go through this nonsense.REPORT COMMENTS

On 11-20-85 at the age of 21 I was working and a industrial fire extinguisher fell from the wall crushing my foot resulting in an multiple open compound fracture which resulted in my having R&D or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome total body. I was on a dose of pain medication that gave me my life back but 2 months ago the DEA shut my pain doctor down forcing him into retirement or arrest. The new doctor reduced my med school 70% leaving me bed bound unable to walk in complete pain! They tell me that the DEA is taking the 30mg oxycodone pills off the market so I can not get them. So I ask this question WHO THE HELL HAS THE RIGHT TO TAKE MY LIFE AND MY ABILITY TO WALK AWAY FROM ME? ???????????? I am so depressed that I no longer want to be here. I can't live like this. I'm 52 and have to crawl to pee! Are you serious? Am I a human being or an animal? Without the correct doses I may as well be dead! Thank you DEA...*******S!REPORT COMMENTS

People with chronic pain, this is not a joke. Saying that they are addicts is just pure evil. I am praying for you to feel my pain and know what chronic pain is. Then you will know how to be apathetic, sympathetic and concerned. At one time I was taking 7 drugs just to manage my lupus. 2 for fibromyalgia. 1 for gout and 1for neuropathy and degenerating joint disorder. The medical reports saying that doctors thought that blacks can take more pain than whites is ludicrous. We just have a better connection to the lord. What is going on with medical treatment for chronic pain is: Medical genocide... That's what comes to my mind. If you are poor, disabled or a minority ... Just let them suffer and die. That's right we are useless people to you. May GOD have mercy on us. May GOD show mercy to you... maybe NOTREPORT COMMENTS

On a side note, you need to fix medicaid, especially in Missouri. My primary doctor was horrible, took him three years of seeing him to get an MRI for a lifelong condition. He took months to do physical therapy and pain management referrals.Once the pain management doctors find out medicaid won't pay for the physical. ther. or the $500-$800 steroid injections every 2 weeks, worse yet demented experimentation they call surgery; for example burning the nerves in your spine. They want nothing to do with you.Your only option is meds. That makes us a liability they don't get enough profit from.Don't get me started on the fact an anesthesiologist is even part of a pain management clinic. This is a farce so a surgeon with a little extra training can get richer.Greedy, they can go to he'll in a handbasket with the other demented, diabolical so called experts that are supposed to help.Primary care docs on phone during your appt. with personal calls, mine sweats n stutters n spends an he. In the bathroom like he's speedballing. And uses up my time to do paperwork.Must be nice to have that pharmaceutical buzz from your buddy doctors while he sits on his*****all cushy pushing pencils.REPORT COMMENTS

This is a copy of the letter I sent out yesterday. Dear President Obama. Thank you for taking a stand for those who's only sin is that they are suffering in chronic pain. Veterans especially are being tortured by the VA and having their pain medications refused especially in states where Medical Marijuana is legal and if a Veteran is using it, the VA is refusing to give Veterans the pain medications they need for quality of life. It goes deeper than that Sir. It's a direct attack on Obama Care as you and your legacy will be blamed for health care in this country failing and it must fail when we have clinics closing, doctors refusing to care for patients who have pain out of fear of being criminalized for treating them in the way they know is best. Mothers who can no longer care for their children and are afraid of losing them, bread winners who can no longer work and support their families. Those of us like myself with disabilities can no longer care for ourselves and stay independent and who is going to pay for all of this? Obama Care will be blamed for it all. Please take a stronger stand for those Americans who are suffering and being tortured by our own government. Thank youREPORT COMMENTS

I have 3 small children and I sit on the couch or in bed. I've been on medical leave for 3 weeks from work bc I can't do it due to the pain. Have you ever had your wife or husband walk you to the bathroom, pull you out of a tub, clean house cause you can't do anything, pee on the side of your bed in a urinal bc once your in bed you can't get out??? This is stupid the ones who need it are being taken off and the ones who are dope heads get help like crazy! Where is the justice. I also have IC look it up my bladder is being eaten with the pain of a cancer patient! Grow up and learn to do your job instead of making our lives unbearable! I don't know why we waste time writing this as you'll do nothing as always....who the hell made you God. I hope sometime you experience what we go through and NO ONE helps you.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a healthcare worker that works with our elderly. Over the last couple of years I have noticed a drastic change in the pain my patients are forced to live 28th. People with cancer, broken bones, contactures etc.. They are being given 1 500mg Tylenol every 6-8 hours. If they are actually seen and heard by these doctors they might get a tramadol. So basically they are left to suffer and for in intense pain so they won't for addicted. Ha what a laugh. This whole medical system is a joke.REPORT COMMENTS

My dr. is closed. and now no one can get any medications. or find a new dr. all being accused of being opiod addicts? This is throwing many people into withdrawals and every bottle of every script says DO NOT STOP without consulting yr dr!. but there is no dr. only articles about how everyone is an addict and will now seek out street heroin for pain? HELL no I and most others in chronic pain will NOT seek street drugs. they ARE seeking drs. and drs now are too afraid of prescribing for legit painfilled people. Pain meds are for pain. bp pills are for high blood pressure you dont stop taking them without getting to your dr. So no dr in nv will help anyone now. you cant go to the er and get interim relief so they FORCE everyone to go through deadly withdrawals? how is that fair lumping all people in pain together as drug addicts? its just wrong. Pain management for 10yrs, same doctor. Ankylosing Spondylitis, has fused my entire spine, no surgeon will do surgery, to complex, I just got the "crisis" education last month from my doctor, who agreed to put pain pump in at the advice of those surgeons, me trying to hold out for a miracle is waiting, now he asked me to go from 4 wk refills to 6, I can do 5, but the real bs, he said try to take a half of a pain pill. A doctor I trusted to stand up for what he believes in, which should be his patients has left me defeated. I was left undiagnosed for years, with the AS, I cried for help, to be told was all in my head, my pain doctor finally found it, and Mayo Clinic confirmed the dx, it is not my fault drs didn't take me serious and let my spine get damage, but I like many are paying the price!!REPORT COMMENTS

I go to pain management as well and been through such craziness over the last few years getting worse and worse by the day. They are now cutting are medications back so far we barely can make it through the month I don't think many of us are even making it through the month without suffering and secluded ourselves inside our own homes. Unfortunately I've been on this medication since 2006 I've come off it and had to go back on it many times over in the beginning to the point that I was on it all the time just to have quality of life in the bare minimum. Now we sit here having to find new doctors because they screw with the doctors you go to and you get to start all over and you wonder why there is so many suicides! One day one day maybe the give two s**** but I doubt it. I'll be honest with you every month I go to the doctor get charged full price they don't take insurance when we're told they're supposed to the ones that take insurance don't want to see you and if you had a bad doctor in the past that was not your fault it still ends up being your fault so tell me when's this going to end? I only wish they would start helping us instead of profiling for no reason especially when you have 10 years of medical records 15 years of medical records 20 years of medical records it doesn't matter what you have they don't care! Well I'm out of breath so that's all I got to say about that.REPORT COMMENTS
