Can anyone come up with a legitimate and non-emotional argument against this? I think not! -

most working people private or public have to subdue to a urinalysis at least to obtain a job -- how much trouble would it be for welfare recipients to endure the sameREPORT COMMENTS

Most U.S. citizens are required to pass a drug screen in order to get a job, to pay taxes to support the welfare system. Why shouldn't those recipients be required to be a drug free, legal citizen in order to be eligible for the welfare systems and benefits.REPORT COMMENTS

Every job I've ever accepted I have had to submit a drug test within 24 hours of being hired. My boyfriend is tested randomly a few times a year for his job. If we are going to supply our tax money to give people a hand out they should be subject to the same requirement...and with a smile!REPORT COMMENTS

it should most definitely be mandatory! i should not have to use my tax dollars to help fund someone else's addictions. Because if you can afford drugs then you don't need welfare, and if you need welfare to afford drugs, you shouldn't get it. IT IS RIDICULOUS!REPORT COMMENTS

This note added to original author. Absolutely there should be mandatory testing. Prior to approval of assistance and weekly at best, monthly at a minimum without prior notice. Refusal to test should be an automatic dismissal of all benefits. Positive test should be offered 90 days minimum of rehab, refusal of rehab, dismissal of benefits, future positive testing, dismissal of benefits. Employees that have random drug testing if refuse get fired, immediately, positive test, some employers offer rehab, recurrent failure results in termination of job.REPORT COMMENTS

I've seen several comments on other sites about this somehow being unconstitutional. The truth is, the constitution was written at a time before both welfare and our drug problems here in the states. If it's unconstitutional, amend the da** thing. The constitution is something that should, and needs to evolve along with this country.REPORT COMMENTS

i get drug tested for work. most major company's require drug testing before being hired. while several others make it mandatory to be tested after an accident. and have random drug testing on random people throughout the year. why shouldn't we require it for welfare or any other government assisted programREPORT COMMENTS
