Don't blame a BREED, blame the DEED and the idiots who raised the dog that way! Your blaming of the breed would suggest you not allow your soldiers to have guns in the home then, since some of your soldiers have used them against their own families.

We adopted a Doby from Doberman Rescue to be in our house with my elderly mother when we were away. He was the best thing that could have happened to her. At her death (91 years) she weighed 68 lbs. Max, our Dobe, weighed 130 lbs (lots of treats). None of our previous dogs were as gentle. I was in the Air Force (1973 - 1979) and would hate to think that Dobes weren't permitted on base. It's disgraceful!

From what I remember about base housing, I would not want my dog to live there. Perhaps no dogs at all would be better.

This is absolutely ludicrous! How they forget that this breed fought with our men in wars. There are NO bad dogs, just ignorant people.

The Doberman has served in many wars and saved many soldiers lives. Please rethink your decision.

There are only Bad Dog Owners, not Bad Dogs...its up to the owner to teach there dog socialing skills at a early age... For the most part, any dog can be a biter no matter what the breed, if it is mistreated and not socialized.

These are wonderful, gentle dogs when raised properly. Please do not condemn the breed.

There should be no dog discrimiatnation. American Eskimo's are more likely to bite someone then a doberman is. Dobermans have served our military in several wars and protected our soldiers. They are one of the greatest dog breeds around. The way they are breed has some to do with it. But if you buy from a breeder that does their homework on their dogs. Then the rest is up to the new owner of the dog. Proper socialization from puppyhood on up through adulthood along with the proper training. Then there should be now problem with any breed of dog. Even pit bulls. As a professinal groomer I have yet to see a vicsous pit bull. With my knowlege about dogs. I find that you will get more dog bites on your bases from small to medium dogs that think that they are big dogs. So please don't band Dobermans from you bases. Or any other breed for that matter. Thanks and sorry about the spelling. Sally Fisher Adam the Doberman Teenager(my theropy dog) Sally's Pet Spa and Salon Redmond, Oregon

I don't own dobes, but know a few they should not be on this list. What a payback to the breed that did so much for the military.

How insane that a breed that saved so many lives during war is now banned from US Military bases. Shame on the American Government!

After all that Doberman Pinschers did for this country in their war efforts, I can not believe that you would try to elimate them from your bases. Dobermans are one of the least likely breeds to bite. They will jump back and think instead of react like most breeds. If you check the stats, you will see that Labradors and Golden Retrievers have a higher instance of bites than Dobermans.

Certainly the military needs to be reminded of the memorial erected to this breed.

It is very important to take into consideration the number of serious and fatal attacks made a specific breed of dog before making a ban on them. All large breed dogs are "potentially" dangerous but I am very interested to know how many of these attacks have been made specifically by dobermans in order to outcast them this way. I have no problem with public safety but making decisions like this without appropriate guidlines is unexceptable. Thank you.
