Narcolepsy is not just an issue with sleep, it's a chronic brain disorder that does not get better over time but worse. The brain is the main component of the body so without that functioning normally how can a person function normal?Apr 14th, 2016Someone from Memphis, TN signed.

I was denied SSDI twice but approved based on Narcolepsy once I went before a judge. My children should not have had to live in poverty and my elderly parents should not have had to support me while waiting 2 years for the approval to finally come through. If there was a listing for me to meet, this would not have happened.REPORT COMMENTS

I have Narcolepsy as well as several other ailments. I went through the Social Security Disability process with a lawyer and was denied by the judge. I can't work because of the disorder as well as some other medical ailments. Narcolepsy makes dealing with every day situations very difficult and should be a qualifying ailment for Social Security disability. I mean there are people on disability who are a lot better off than I am yet they have their disability and I was denied because I have narcolepsyREPORT COMMENTS

I have a friend whose life has been severely disrupted by narcolepsy, and I really don't understand how this can not be an eligible condition for SSDI. She is unable to drive, or even try to cook when she is alone at home. She worked hard to become a lab tech; a profession she loved, and is no longer able to maintain a position in that field, or in any field. Her kids know all too well how to handle her episodes, which are accompanied by paralysis and inability to speak. Please help her and others like her with this debilitating condition; please recognize it as a very valid condition covered by SSDI.REPORT COMMENTS
