As a person with narcolepsy, I have personal experience with both career and social ramifications of that disease in my life. It is very difficult to commit to any obligations because of the sleepiness that can hit me at any moment, preventing me from even hearing my alarm clock. If I can wake up enough to take my medications, I might face a day when my mind will not completely feel awake, and instead feels very foggy. This disease has kept me from fully participating in my life. I feel like I am trying to run a race through deep mud, compared to others. Nothing I have experienced in my life has been harder than dealing with narcolepsy.Apr 17th, 2016Someone from Pearland, TX signed.

As a person who struggles with narcolepsy, I can testify how debilitating it is. It's impossible to establish a career because you simply can't be present enough to put in the time and quality of work necessary to get ahead. Because it's an 'orphan disease' there are few medications for, and none that is truly effective.REPORT COMMENTS
