As a person with narcolepsy, I have personal experience with both career and social ramifications of that disease in my life. It is very difficult to commit to any obligations because of the sleepiness that can hit me at any moment, preventing me from even hearing my alarm clock. If I can wake up enough to take my medications, I might face a day when my mind will not completely feel awake, and instead feels very foggy. This disease has kept me from fully participating in my life. I feel like I am trying to run a race through deep mud, compared to others. Nothing I have experienced in my life has been harder than dealing with narcolepsy.

Hypersomnia and Narcolepsy both can be equally as disabling as epilepsy. It is unfair that people who have idiopathic hypersomnia or Narcolepsy don't get the same benifit as those with neurological conditions whoset symptoms are similar.
