GREAT IDEA- I get sick of the disruptions everyday.Feb 9th, 2011Someone from Grovetown, GA writes:
Cell phones are a disruption during class. Students are off task texting during instruction. Phones will sound with a text or an alarm. The entire class is disruptive. .As a teacher, the ability to do this would completely change the atmosphere of my classroom, and in turn my ability to focus on positive instruction rather than constant behavior monitoring and altercations.REPORT COMMENTS

The surreptitous use of cell phones in class is a huge problem in our schools. This development would be a major step in helping us combat this problem.REPORT COMMENTS

As a teacher, I can attest to the text messaging and cheating that we have caught in our school due to cell phones. It would be nice to be granted permission to shut them down via an accepted protocol.REPORT COMMENTS

Cell phone/texting is a daily problem in clasroom. Students disrupt class; low grades, refuse to listen to instruction, refuse to put electronic device away; cell phones, i pods, cameras. It does no good to collect electronics from students. Due to fact that teachers are responsible for soemthing that should not be used during classtime. Parents are easily angered when these devices are taken from thier children. Teachers should be able to teach without hinderance from students/parents.REPORT COMMENTS

Cell phones are just a major disruption for many reasons. Kids DO NOT NEED to have them at school - esp. in our school where every teacher has a phone in their room that's available for kids to use.REPORT COMMENTS

This is a great idea. The ability to use them for 911/emergency situations is a great addition as well as the parental emergency numbers. Now its just getting it done.REPORT COMMENTS

We need this as it is usually parents calling and texting their students. The students feel obligated to answer- blood is thicker than water- so if we can do this then there is no issue.REPORT COMMENTS

This solution sounds like a reasonable way to balance student rights, school security, and manage the classroom.REPORT COMMENTS
