How can fathers continue to pay child support, if they don't have a license to drive to work. Whoever made this law need to rethink it.

My boyfriend's x filed a peitition to amend the child support with a 10% penalty for failure to pay. He was incarcerated at the time, and was never served. The court entered the order on his default. He has been out of jail for a year and unable to find employment. He is a welder by trade and finally has some interviews set up. All these jobs require that he has a license. Because of the amendment to the order, he now owes $17k despite having not earned any income. It is hard as hell for an x felon to find work. now that his license is suspended, it is impossible. This law - suspending licenses is counter productive and just another badly thought out law by a brainless bunch of morons.

She took my son after i took care of her family for years. I never get to see my kid even when i was paying. This law is destroying our lives and hurting the kid while she makes over $1,000 /month in entitlements while she lives with her mom.

I lost almost everything since getting put on child support, now they are trying to take my license because I cannot find employment after years of looking, however in between time I have been taking college courses, to enhance my job prospects, now if I don't have a license to drive, I cannot continue with my classes, because they are at various times. And to add insult to injury, i don't even know if the child is mine, because Tenn want give me a right to have genetic testing. The mother till this day will not even let me see him nor talk with him. This system is not helping no one.

Repeal the law, this benefits no one. When you revoke a license it cripples the payee and no one wins. Debt accumulates, employers won't hire people without valid licenses and they end up further in arrears.

I have worked and paid child support, and riverside county child support would not release my license, because I could not afford to pay a lump sump from my past due, I worked for a year paying them every month on the current, was pulled over one day for not wearing a seatbelt, lost my car, then lost my job because no transportation, I no longer pay any child support, I do not work, I will continue to drive a car regardless of your idiotic law, you can keep impounding the 500 dollar piece of shits and I still will drive them on your roads unregistered and uninsured, what did this law really accomplish

One has nothing to do with the other! Clearly this is legal extortion for revenue. I don't know why the city, county, and state feel they have some "at will" autonomy over our personal lives. I understand collecting debts but interfering with our ability to be gainfully employed is wrong! In most of the state of California, driving to work is essential because for the most part public transportation is inefficient at best. I don't know who ever thought this law made sense in the first place. Laws like this hits the most vulnerable/poorest worker the hardest. It is this socio-economic status that, more than likely, created the infraction in the first place. So the answer is....make a bad thing worse by making it nearly impossible to earn money to satisfy the debt and the incredible interest??? How stupid could these lawmakers have been?!!! Sounds like our current stupid congress. Drivers license needs to be taken out of the punitive equation for non-driving issues. And interest? Really???

I don't see how this helps with making payments f child support, I have been hit with after loosing my job and currently going through this after being in accident where I lost my foot and was unable to pay but that I am trying to get back on feet I can't even try to learn how to drive because I don't have license. They are quick to take money from my disability before I even get it and but have not given back the license.

My license is set to be suspended on 12/18/13 for not keeping up with my total child support payments every month, the balance is $1300. My sons mother and her high dollar attorney, that her husband pays for, refuses to sign the modified orders that will keep me from having to pay for half our sons preschool each month, which I'm ordered to pay $100 extra on top of my child support each month. Did I mention our son hasn't been in preschool since May 2013! I now need to go into DCSS on my own since I don't have the money for an attorney, Not to mention the mother doesn't work, drives a new Mercedes, and oh yeah I have 48% physical custody which I spent all my money in family court to get. Our system is a joke and our government and the family court racket is to blame!

THIS LETTER HAS BEEN SENT TO GOV. BROWN AS WELL AS ELDORADO COUNTY. ATTACHMENT TO FL-150 To whom it may concern, I'm am writing this letter as an attachment to the FL-150 form I filled out. It is a strange form for me to fill out as I am homeless, have no assets or money and have not had any for years. The following letter explains why this is the case, and why I'm having difficulty with the compromise amount. This last decade has been quite difficult for me and this letter explains a little more in detail. Please consider that every time I landed employment I contacted the appropriate people in your office, updated them and made payments on this account, whether it was Laura Waters and/or Laura Borek; both out of the South Lake Tahoe office. Some years back I spoke to Laura Borek and she notified me of the FL-150 (offer of compromise) to reduce or eliminate my debt to California for It's paying years of welfare to Lynn Marie Hughes despite her using the money for alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, and criminal activities; as her criminal record with show. At the time, in my eternal optimism and rigorous accountability, I declined to filling out this form. I believed, and still do, that this was my responsibility as a patriotic man who has respect for the state of California. I've seen too many Californians take advantage of their state and wrongfully collect unjustified state assistance. I have a term for these people, ?oxygen thieves? and in the sake of not being a hypocrite, I vowed to never do this and I never will. Years later, as I find my self in the present, writing this letter, homeless, unshaven and in dirty clothes, at a public library, on a computer I do not own, I have come to the harsh realization, that the possibility exists that I might never be able to pay this debt. The hold on my drivers license being the one of the reasons among the now many reasons why this is the case. I have thought about this long and hard, and the following parts of this letter will explain the reasons why. As a trained and college educated professional and formally A.S.E. certified automotive technician, I had always been a gainfully employed, tax paying, and ethical automotive technician. Sometime around the year 2000 or so a hold was put on my drivers license due to a laps in paying my support. This caused me to lose my job as I was unable to test drive vehicle anymore. At the time I was under the impression the full amount of the debt had to be paid for the hold to be lifted. I managed to land jobs from employers who were willing to look the other way on the license issue. These jobs never stuck as the industry began to change and repair shops began to watch their legal responsibilities more and more, and not having a drivers license is a liability. Living in Lake Tahoe afforded less opportunities for work, as the population in a mere 27,000 people. In an attempt to save my own life, I switched to and ent

My husband was unemployed for a couple years causing him to accumulate quite a bit of debt in child support. Now he is trying to obtain a professional license so that he can work to support our family but due to the past due child support, he license is set to suspended in 150 days if he does not pay thousands of dollars in past due support. This law makes absolutely zero sense, if one cannot work then they cannot make payments. If they have no drivers license then they cannot get to work to even be able to make income to make payments. This law us retarded and every way you look at it & is designed to put you in morr debt plus interest.

My ex got an illegal support order that is over 100% of my taxable income. Helped by a very bias female Judge "Tara M. Desautels". Despite the fact my X is facing nearly 50 counts of contempt of court for violating custody orders...I'm still gonna loose my license while I have to appeal the illegal decision!!!! Justice? I think not. No real penalty for mothers that are gatekeeper parents!!!!

I lost my job in May of 2013. During my 8 years there I paid my support on time and ensured my daughter had medical/dental/vision, which by the way her mother never used. Then i lost my job. I've been searching with no real luck but am looking at obtaining a job as a city bus driver. Chances look good, but now I'm told that because I'm 800.00 behind on support my license will be suspended. How is this supposed to make things better for me. If I lose my license and the city looking to hire me catches wind of it, I'm out of contention for a good job that will bendfit all parties invloved..... this law is bogus.
