Learn Spanish you dumbass. You are NOT entitled to a job, nor are you entitled to dictate who the employers hire. If you do not posses the skill of being fluent in Spanish you lack the skill for the job. End of discussion.

"Bilingual preferred" translates to "Mexican employee preferred," and all the other races who speak Spanish - Puerto Rican, Colombian, Spaniard, etc. It would be the same with "Mandarin preferred" which translates to "Chinese employee preferred"

Where is the SSL (Spanish second language) classes for non Spanish speaking individuals? Workers with years of experience and education are being forced out of the job market due to lack of being bilingual in Spanish. There are many government programs for non English speaking individuals to learn English, obtain a high school dipolma or GED, tuition free college classes, job training and even job placement. These programs should be offered to all regardless of their native language. Race, gender, or language should not play any role in employment, compensation, income tax credits or qualifying for government assistance. Let's put all Americans on a level playing field.

I think it's unfair as a none Spanish speaker who cannot seem to land any job in Florida. Just about 80% of the application that I've seen required Spanish speaker. This is against people like myself! I am not racist or anything like that, but it is already hard for myself trying to have financial support. Yet all these hispanics around here seem to get the jobs!!! Like someone else said, many immigrants had to learn English! Why not Latin Americans? SERIOUSLY!?

It's unfortunate that in our own Country that has fought multitudes of wars to maintain democracy, our own Government asks us to press 1 or 2 to continue in English. You must be bilingual to be accepted for this position! The language for AMERICA IS ENGLISH! Most importantly, why isn't this serious issue ever a topic by our media. It's very sad when President Trump is possibly valid in wanting a wall to separate Mexico, how else do we undermine needing to be bilingual. The only way is to stop Americans being a minority in our own Country! When we have to close our borders because we have become a minority in our own Country, as an American, I become very saddened.

Like I have all day to wait on phone thru a spanish menu till it gets english- and then the person answering major stores- barely speaks english and can't understand what I am simply saying! THEN!- They don't have any idea about anything. It's time to leave Gangifornia WE ARE AMERICA! If I move to a Latin country- "then" I NEED to learn and speak spanish, but not in mine. Competent is communication to understand, not get 1/2 of every food order or wrong change or wrong amount on wrong gas pumps. TOO MUCH HEADACHE- Where is America going? Let's set some boundries and work on a normal country again. It's getting worse every day. Lets find good solutions for "ALL". (Please) No Comprende-

English is the Business Language of the world. The Unites States is the Business Capital of the World and is English-speaking. People who built this country fought and died in the Civil Rights movement for fair access and rights and justice against discrimination, under the laws for housing and EMPLOYMENT among other things. So what is this monkey business going on where it is REQUIREMENT for employment, for so much of the workforce, to be bilingual? Especially in certain parts of the country? America has gotten in over its head with terrorism, including moral terrorism because of the words inscribed on the Statue of Liberty that have been abused in granting with an invading foot against our graciousness. Our welcoming arms have been tied up and shot down and this is where it begins- in subtle, ingratiating ways that reverse our intent and beat us on the head with it. Are we now second in access- in consideration- "press 2 for English", in our own land? That is not consistent with the American spirit of responsibility, respect or true liberty. Responsible legislation will take into consideration the worst of motives and possible outcomes with honest and professional maturity and reverse the trend for take-over that is being demonstrated against our country which starts with a form of reverse discrimination in housing and employment ads and offers designed against those who fought the hardest for these rights. Legislation must correct these illegal excesses and abuses and take care of its own first because that is first obligation and the first rule of safety.

Bilingual communication is a skill . Being able to communicate with out interpretation make a worker more efficient and compatible for many situations. Quit crying should have paid more attention in Spanish or moved to a place you could have used French or German as these are the most languages spoke world wide below Spanish and English

This is going on more an more. It is totally unfair for Americans to be shut out of a position because they are not bilingual. At my company one of our warehouse workers was moved into another position to train in the shipping department. The Hispanic girl there (she has the day shift, the guy would do the night shift) doesn't like this guy (she wants one of her friends to have the job) so she complained to HR that the drivers and warehouse people couldn't understand him (because they all speak Spanish). She only partially trained him in hopes to get him out of there. The manager likes the guy, but is now being told by the higher-ups to tell this guy it is now a requirement that for this position one must speak Spanish. They are now moving him back to the warehouse. Fortunately they are not letting him go... as of yet. Very unfair...

It is totally asinine to educate an entire population in English and then have so many jobs require Spanish. If you truly moved here for a better life, maybe part of the reason the USA has it is due to the fact English is spoke allowing us to be placed on the global stage~~ There is not one country that speaks Spanish that is self reliant. It is difficult enough to find jobs I qualify for, yet in Las Vegas, so many require that you speak Spanish. We are not taught Spanish as a second language. It should be illegal to require that someone is Bilingual for a job. It prohibits qualified people from applying and getting a job. Please make this a law Donald Trump.

I have been turned down for several jobs because I did not speak Spanish. It should not be allowed to discriminate against people who only speak English. This happens at fast food restaurants, banks, most customer service jobs where I live In Tampa, Fl. When I went on vacation to Mexico, I didn't leave a business or stop going to a bank or a restaurant because no one spoke my language (English) and by the way, NO ONE SPOKE ENGLISH. I just carried my translator book around and fumbled like most tourist do. Business are hiring "bilingual" workers because they THINK That they are providing a service to the Spanish speaking community. What they are really doing is doing a huge disservice to the Latin community by under estimating their ability to assimilate into society. Part of that is to learn the language. They are also doing a huge disservice to the MAJORITY of their customers and fellow Americans who are English speaking. It is unconstitutional to require applicants to be bilingual. It just is.

it's very saddening, especially being born and raised in Miami, FL. It's so hard for me to find a job after just graduation college. Since most jobs in my area require you to be a fluent Spanish speaker. I find that completely fair because even though I'm more than qualified than, the competition. They normally get selected for the job, simply because they're fluent in Spanish. When we're essential in America were English is the primary language.

In America, English needs to be the only language to get a job in America, I see it everyday at fast food restaurants and I promise this is not racist, ok? I am stating what I see and that is you must speak Spanish whether they admit it or not, because all the employees speak fluent Spanish, so if you speak English only you won't be hired at many restaurants and especially fast food type places.
