Net impact of H4 EAD is positive economically as well as socially for US economy and growth. Also granting visa first and then revoking it later seems like a policy flip flop. No other developed nation precludes immigrants from participating in employment. Every individual has right to work and earn a living through dignity and respect. It’s a illogical to revoke H4-EAD. Lots of lives would be displaced and there will corresponding negative impact on businesses, spending in general and lost skills. PLEASE DONT REVOKE H4-EAD.

We came to the US more than 10 years back and we have started building our family here. We have kids who are US citizens and we have built our own little home here and have been living the american dream. My husband is on H1B and he has been waiting for his Greencard for the past 7 years now and still has a long wait for his Greencard because of the per country cap limit and the broken immigration system. I am equally qualified as my husband and have a dual Masters degree. I didn't get picked in the H1b lottery last few years and have been working on H4 EAD. We have been law abiding citizens and have been contributing to the taxes from our income. Revoking H4 EAD would put my career on complete hold till we get our Greencard (which seems like it might never happen till the immigration system is fixed) and getting back to the workforce might be almost impossible with the long break. Also bringing up our kids with a single income would be quite a challenge and we would need to consider relocating to a different immigration friendly country. We H4 EADs are skilled and are not working for cheap labor. Like me, other H4 EAD holders work in the top multi national companies and are filling in the skill gap. We are not stealing American jobs but are actually contributing to the economy to create more jobs. Please don't discriminate us based on our country of origin. Treat us equally for the skill set we bring to this Country and the economic growth. That is the America we know of and the Country we want our kids to grow up in. Please save H4 EAD.

Please don’t cancel H4 EAD as it is only granted to spouses of H1B holders whose permanent residency process is in place and they are stuck in the backlog. This EAD helps such families who are future citizens. H4EAD are lawful legal residents and pay taxes. They are highly educated resources who does not have IT background thus H1B is not an option for them. Revoking H4EAD will not solve any problem but rather will create a big one for future citizens lives and economy.

Several of the H4 EAD have kids that are American citizens. The current regulation provides a basic right to the spouses of h-1bs who have already been approved for green card while waiting for years due to an inherent flaw in the immigration law. The current immigration does not have any country wise limit for intake of h-1bs but have country cap for employment based green cards. So around 75% of the total h-1bs ( India) are assigned only 7% of the total employment based GC that results in an average wait time of over a decade, while the h-1bs from other countries get their green card within a few months. We have committed and contributed to the community for several years and are future citizens of the country. There are more than half a million jobs currently open across USA per BLS data so there is no logical reasoning that nearly 80,000 h4s take away American jobs. The repeal specifically discriminate against women (that make almost 90% of the beneficiary of the rule), while spouse of the immigrant on other visas such as l1/l2, J visa and asylum/refugee visa can work.

As you are planning for merit based immigration. Any merit based person will always have a highly educated and talented spouse. Having H4 EAD in place will promote talented and meritorious families to come to US.

Save H4-EAD. I am not a program participant - I am a US citizen. As an American citizen, let me tell you: I believe in the program, and I believe the program participants and their spouses are already properly vetted & contributing greatly to Americans. This program is important to ensuring that Americans both home and abroad have access to well trained, highly skilled professionals. Further, we cannot arbitrarily change people's lives just because of the current administration. Those whom we have already committed immigrant status in this country deserve access to have normal lives, including employment and paying US taxes, and education as required by the career they are pursuing. Changing direction now is poor policy and cruel.
