Salazar also proposes to make zoo-like preserves in the east to hold all the captive horses that belong out on the range. Instead of managing them in the wild to maintain the species, he proposes to sterilize all these captive "zoo" horses. Not only is this contrary to good management of these animals "in the wild" as dictated by the 1971 Wild Horse Act, it will cost taxpayers hundreds of millions more in tax dollars. His inhumane roundups/herd reductions which are performed without scientific foundation already cost us many millions per year, all so he can put them in pens, sterilize them - or worse, there is speculation that the captives are being sold for slaughter surreptitiously. Since Salazar is at the head of the agency which has been withholding public information about our publicly owned horses and wild ranges, people have been asking for years for access to these tens of thousands of wild captives to make an independent census. Those requests are ignored. Why is that? If one has nothing to hide, generally an innocent person will allow inquiry and oversight.REPORT COMMENTS

K.Salazar has failed the horses and failed the public. His " Cattleman" mentality is taking our horses off the land. What next.? Tell us we have to ship to slaughter?? Get rid of Salazar and tell Obama to explain transparency. BLM doesnt seem to know.REPORT COMMENTS

Ken Salazar has no idea how to preserve and protect our magnificent wild horses. He obviously has a hidden agenda and that should be exposed. Please remove this totally incompetent individual as the Secretary of D.O.I. Thank you. Jo De GeorgeREPORT COMMENTS

You should have been working for the people and not the special interests that want to gut our natural resources for quick money. Wild horses are no threat to energy exploration they are definately a barometer of how you view this country's laws and protections and desires of its citizenry.REPORT COMMENTS

Wild horses were put on this earth just like you & me. If we didn't have cows, chickens, vegetables, we would go extint. Is this really fair? I think not. They are peaceful animals that don't eat much. Let them live, or maybe we should be the ones to go extint!REPORT COMMENTS

I was stunned when I heard of this man's appointment as Secretary of the Interior. He has for years answered our letters asking him to support the ban of horse slaughter by saying he was a supporter of horse slaughter and the removal of the mustangs. I wondered then and I wonder now just what President Obama was thinking when he appointed him, and how sincere was he as a supporter of HR 503, or whichever one it was. We've have the bill to stop all of this in the House and Senate for so many years I've lost track of the numbers. Definately remove Salazar and take his cousin with hinm.REPORT COMMENTS

I am almost ashamed to say that I am from Colorado, being that Salazar is too. He has taken the BLM to the lowest of lows and will continue to do so if he is not stopped. We have so little American Heritage to hold on to. He wants to take the last piece of what is rightfully OURS and what belongs to us ALL! Let OUR Mustangs & Burros be where they belong, wild and free along with our American Spirit! Step Down Ken, do the RIGHT thing!REPORT COMMENTS

Leave our horses alone. We have proven, over & over again, that there is room for the horses. They are a part of our foundation, our heritage. Those holding offices today are moving to destroy our country. We need to go back to our roots by replacing those destroying to those supporting. Ken Salazar needs to go.REPORT COMMENTS
