Salazar has always had a vendetta against horses, wild or domestic, as he has a cattle industry background. In his position he should forget his past and do the right thing and protect that which is under his control. The BLM is suppose to protect the wild horses and burros and anyone in the cattle industry has a conflict of interest with the protection of those animals. The BLM should not be in charge of caring for wild horses as the BLM oversees the range and they get tunnel vision with the issues that come up under their jurisdictions which includes grazing permits for cattle to graze on public lands. Can you say "conflict of interest" -

He is allowing the cattle industry to run roughshod over the wild lands that were designated by LAW in 1971, for the "Free Roaming" Wild Horses and Burros Act. The wild horses and burros are an asset of the United States government. They are TAXPAYER owned assets. The BLM has provided any substantiation of any legitimate reasons to destroy them or remove them from their natural habitat. The BLM is so sure of their inability to justify their actions that they assisted Congress in exempting from the National Environmental Protection Act which would allow citizens to challenge their actions. NEPA was enacted to protect citizens, give them a voice in maintaining legitimate objections to actions by government that may have significant environmental impacts. Of course if the governments actions were completely defensible, they would need to silence the citizens who the BLM is employed by. Dump Salazar.REPORT COMMENTS
