Start looking into restricting the cattle ranchers rather than eliminating the wild horse population. WE MUST NOT LET IT BE ALL ABOUT MONEY, PROFIT AND GREED.REPORT COMMENTS

Not only has Ken Salazar failed to enforce the Wild Free Roaming Horse and Burro Act of 1971 that the BLM has been ignoring for years, he's actually made matters worse with his idiotic idea of moving ALL the wild horses to "preserves" in the east or Midwest, throwing away even MORE millions of dollars of tax payer money to do it.REPORT COMMENTS

Ken Salazar is a disgrace for a ""public official". He has totally disregarded the wishes of the public and is going out of his way to destroy every last wild mustang who roams the west. Our nations symbols of strength and freedom are under siege on his orders. He needs to go and all BLM holding facility and range managers should go with him.REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a Coloradoan, but unless he cleans house in the BLM, I find it impossible to support his policies. By his words and inactions, he is condoning the "explorers and plunderers" who work in the BLM. They are only bent on wiping out the wild horses and burros and exploiting the public land at their leisure and greed.REPORT COMMENTS

It's time to CLEAN HOUSE.... Our precious Wild Horses and Burros have made the ultimate sacrifice with their very lives...Foals have lost their mothers and have died a horrendous death. Is a LIFE worth a useless piece of green paper? We MUST SPEAK on their behalf...FEDERAL LAWS ARE BEING BROKEN LEFT and RIGHT... Someone needs to be held accountable... When wild horses are removed from the range because BLM claims there is not enough grazing and turns around and puts cattle on the VERY SPOT the horses were removed from, then HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!!!! CLEAN HOUSE NOW!!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

The first thing Salazar SHOULD have done was clean house in the DOI and BLM. The last 8 years of the Bush admin. destroyed more public lands, national parks, forests and wildlife INCLUDING wild horses and burros that any other administration for the sake of his oil and Rolex Cowboy buddies and the almighty dollar. There is NO SUCH THING as intergrity in this department, it is who can sell off our public lands, sneak as many horses to slaughter to the highest dollar and get away with it. Obama's campaign for change sure has fallen on it's face regarding this appointment and department, it's nothing more than business as usual...the Bush way. I guess he figures he has 3 years left to trash what is left of our public lands, horses and wildlife, and let renegade agencies do their misdeeds, break the laws set by congress and in general thumb their noses at John Q. Public.REPORT COMMENTS

We cannot allow Secretary Salazar to continue his actions (and inactions) that are destroying our public lands and the life on them, which is causing burdens, hardships and cruelties elsewhere - at the public's expense. We must stop him now before he abuses any more of our tax dollars, and any more of our wild horses and their environment. IMMEDIATELY.REPORT COMMENTS

?They [wild horses and burros] belong to all the American people. The sprit which kept them alive and free against almost insurmountable odds typifies the national spirit which led to the growth of our Nation. They are living symbols of the rugged independence and tireless energy of our pioneer heritage... The committee wishes to emphasize that the management of the wild free-roaming horses and burros be kept to a minimum both from the aspect of reducing costs of such a program as well as to deter the possibility of ?zoolike? developments. An intensive management program of breeding, branding, and physical care would destroy the very concept that this legislation seeks to preserve. ? leaving the animals alone to fend for themselves and placing primary emphasis on protecting the animals from continued slaughter and harassment by man.? -- Senate Report (Interior and Insular Affairs Committee), June 25, 1971REPORT COMMENTS
