I am completely embarassed by how badly the BLM manages our wild horse polulation. Repeated attempts to work out viable solutions have fallen on deaf ears. Ken salazar need to resign or be replaced with someone who will listen and will work with the people that understand the importance of our wild horse herds. Our public lands are should NOT be used to pad the pockets of private industry. (Mining, cattle, etc..,) our wildlife needs to be protected before they are gone. Goodbye Mr. Salazar.Dec 18th, 2009Someone from Mifflintown, PA writes:
He does not represent "change" he represents disaster for the wild horses and burros. He cares not about public opinion nor expert opinion. He must be removed as Secretary of the D.O.I.REPORT COMMENTS

The current actions being taken by the BLM with regard to the wild horse and burro populations are an absolute tragedy! Not only does Ken Salazar's ranching background create a significant conflict of interest, but there is also not a shred of scientific data/evidence to substantiate the need for round-up and removal of these animals. As someone who has traveled extensively throughout the wild horse areas of the Western states, as well as done a considerable amount of fieldwork in a couple of the areas with "supposed" overpopulation issues, I have not seen a wild horse or burro since I was a child in the 1970's. My spouse also happens to be working in some of the most remote areas of the Nevada desert, often having to be helicoptered into individual jobsites, and has yet to observe even a single wild horse or burro...let alone the massive overpopulations claimed by the BLM and Ken Salazar. The American public is being taken for a ride by Ken Salazar and his cronies, and the wild horses and burros are suffering the dire consequences! These animals are being treated inhumanely, injured, killed, and/or sold to slaughter kill buyers, while lobbyists and other individuals are getting fat pockets because of it. It's time to "clean house" at the BLM...starting at the top.REPORT COMMENTS

This sicken me, not to mention angers me. That land is for our wild Horses not rich cattlemen's cattle. How stupid do you think we are? We know what is going on and we are sick of it and sick of government. I personally don't see anything new from the obama administration. So much for obama's promise to the animal rights community.REPORT COMMENTS

If I were to act with as much distain and lack of respect for the people whom I worked for, I would expect that my term of employment would be MUCH shorter-lived than Mr. Salazar's has been! How DARE he be allowed to continue what amounts to equine genocide!REPORT COMMENTS

The horses are healthy and doing fine in the wild, please stop the pending Nevada round up. We taxpayers do not need any more penned horses to feed and they are not harmful where they are. We were cattle ranchers for 30 years in Idaho. We have bred and raised horses for 35 years... it is cruel to cram horses in pens without shelter or room to roam.REPORT COMMENTS

It is an American disgrace what the BLM and you are doing to the wild horses. The law in 1971 was passed to protect them and you are not obeying the law and you all should be fired and then sued for civil damages for all the lost horses since then, 270,000. Your jobs are all at risk unless you turn this department around and make it do what it is suppose to do, protect and preserve the wild horses and burros of America.REPORT COMMENTS

If you want to do more, call and write the President and your representatives in Congress. Each letter received counts as 10 voices. The BLM is mandated by law to do what they are doing, but they have wide discretion in it's application. Ask for a moratorium on any roundup until independent scientists can look at the "devastation" and assist the BLM in their decision making. Lastly, join one or more or the many horse advocate groups. Send money if you can. Some of them have active lawsuits pending right now to try and stop or slow down the removal of wild horses. GOOD LUCK!!REPORT COMMENTS

we must get rid of salazar before he gets rid of all of our wild horses. He has no clue what he is doing. I take that back - he does know what he is doing and that is getting rid of our wild horses because he has the cattleman's money flowing into his pockets. He has his own agenda and it is against the horse- he will not listen to reason - he just does what he wants to do and will not listen to reason - he must be stopped - get him out of office NOWREPORT COMMENTS

Remove Ken Salazar from his position of power as The Department of the Interior's Secretary of The Bureau of Land Management, immediately. The conflict of interest concerning management of America's wild horse herds and his direct intimate self interest in the cattle industry is a travesty and a disgrace. There should be now tolerance for this kind of corruption in our system. Shame on the Obama administration, if the President and Congress do not remove this bunko artist NOW.
